There's magic when we hold hands When you slip your fingers into mine The memory always lingers
Magic always does happen Within the feel of your palm
There's magic when we stare at each other With no words spoken at all The fire always burns
Magic always does happen When I'm lost, staring at you
There's magic whenever we kiss When your lips feather mine I thirst for more of you
Magic always does happen As my throat constricts
There's magic when we make love On cloud nine to the skies above I yearn for more of you
Magic always does happen When you send shivers through me
I'm your tricky wand And you're my magician Please wield magic with me always

Darren looked up from his lukewarm cup of coffee at Levi who was sliding back and forth across the ice on the sidewalk in front of the bench he was sitting on. He watched the 17 year old dirty blonde boy do this for a few moments before looking back at his coffee. A small bit of steam was still rising from the hole in the lid but this morning was so cold that Darren's breath was almost too thick to see through. Darren focused on heating the liquid in the cup until a thick cloud of steam arose from the hole in the lid. He slowly shook the cup back and forth so that the heated liquid would even out within the cup while he looked back up at Levi.
Levi, having sensed the magic aura in the area grow, looked up at Darren just in time to see the steam rise from the coffee. "When are you going to teach me that fire stuff you can do?" He asked while still sliding on the ice covered sidewalk. "This fire stuff, as you call it, is Temperature Transfiguration, one of the oldest forms of magic and the first form written about in Liber Amet." Darren scoffed back at him. His voice was rugged and especially tough seeing as the sun hadn't yet come up and they were sitting in a park in the middle of one of the coldest winters New Orleans has seen in years. "I know, I know. You don't have to give me a history lesson. I'm off for winter break, remember?" Levi joked. Darren gave Levi a sarcastic chuckle and melted the ice from underneath his feet so that he stumbled and nearly fell into a large cloud of steam. "You really shouldn't be so careless." Darren retorted in a serious manner. "The last thing we need is another dead witch."
Levi regained his balance and faced Darren. "So what did you bring me out here for today?" he sighed as he threw his arms up and slowly spun around to face the river that bordered the opposite side of the park. "It's too damn early to be out here on a Friday. Too early any day for that matter." He turned back to Darren and sat next to him on the bench. "What's today's lesson, oh Great Master Darren Lange." Darren chuckled a bit and took a sip from his coffee. "You have too much energy for this hour. Do you really want to know what today's lesson is?" He asked as he tilted his head to the side and gave Levi an inquisitive look. Levi sarcastically shook his head no and readjusted his scarf. "We are here to watch the sunrise." Darren said softly as he looked back towards the river. "The sun should come up within the next few minutes. You can already see the sky turning orange." Levi slumped over a bit as he felt the need to slap Darren. "You mean to tell me that you brought me out here to watch the sunrise? What in God's name could I possibly learn from that?"
Darren sat for a moment thinking about what exactly to say to Levi. "Temperature Transfiguration, ironically." He replied. "One of the easiest forms of magic and the first of the 7 Wonders." He looked back over at Levi who was gazing across the river at a slow-moving cargo ship. "How can the sun help me learn that?" He asked, perplexed. "Well, in it's original form, Temperatus Transfiguratione is typically just the ignition of a fire using your mind and in most cases is discovered by a witch when they get extremely angry or emotionally distressed and they wind up setting something on fire." Levi smiled at this but regained his puzzled look and turned back to Darren. "I still don't understand what the sun has to do with this or why I am learning this now." Darren frowned and looked at Levi. "What better way to learn about starting fire than from a great big ball of it?" He smiled and took another sip of his coffee. "Focus on the sunrise. Clear you mind and think of nothing but the sun. Feel what little heat you can in this icy weather and imagine yourself absorbing it. Imagine the ice on the sidewalk just melting away as the heat surrounds it."
Levi and Darren sat on the park bench watching the sunrise. After about 30 minutes, a small cloud of steam arose from about an inch-wide hole in the ice that Levi had created. "Oh my god!" he shouted as he jumped from the bench. "Did you see that? I did that!" Darren smiled and coughed loudly looking around the park. Several passersbys were now looking at Levi like they would a crazed homeless man. Levi quickly sat back down and faced the river again to avoid further embarrassment. "That's enough for today." Darren leaned over and spoke to him, "Let's go back home and help with breakfast."
