This young lady is fascinated with humans. She has one important question: "How come humans don't have cores?" Answer this question for her, and you could win her over! She will look like this when she grows up.
The winner will be selected based on creativity and awesomeness of the answer. ICly this girl herself will be choosing the answer, so try to make it appealing to an audience her age! You could get scientific, philosophic, or just plain silly. It could be long (but not too long, or the girl might get bored) or it could be short. It doesn't have to be true... but it has to sound convincing to a child.
The deadline is Dec 15th, 9:00PM PST.

Ah, young Corleo, the answer to that is as simple as it is complex. Our cores are the gift our great ancestors left for us, building with our spirits for countless years. The Humans are still young, and they do not have enough ancestors to fill their spirits with the memories that ours hold. Maybe when their race has grow much, much older they to might have our gifts.

"Well..." Azael trailed off before returning her attention to the young Corleo, "it's quite simple why humans don't have a core. Humans lack psionics. There is no such power circulating our bodies."
She glances down at herself where her imaginary core would have been. "Yep no psionics equals no core."

Confused, and slightly amused, she looked down at the child, "What do you mean humans don't have cores?" She bent her knees and ran her fingers through the soft, new fur, "Sure, our cores aren't as......visible, or beautiful as your cores.....but we have them."
Not moving her working hand from the corleo, she spread her free hand over her chest - splaying her fingers over a spot on her left side. "They aren't called cores, but they're basically the same things." She noted, glancing at the girl. After finding the spot she pointed to it on her chest, "It's called a heart, if you listen closely, you can hear it. It doesn't give us psionics, or any magical powers, but every once in a while it will provide us with the power to make important decisions, to stay alive, and to show us what we truly want....To fall in love" The woman smiled, and scratched behind the child's soft ears, "They might not be exactly the same, but our hearts are the cores of who we are."

Cores? You mean that shiny stone on your chest? Well, our maker is quite forgetful and just didn't give us one. Silly of them, but hey. Not much we can do to fix that mistake of theirs, so we just live without them now.

Well...human don't have cores are because those cores are too heavy for human to carry around. Human's strength are not as strong as you or your kind, my lovely Lady.

Anne sat down, puzzling to herself as the little corleo looked up, waiting for an answer. "Well..." She bit her lip as she thought. What the heck even were those core things? "Your core, it's like your heart right? Where all your power comes from. We have those." She smiled, pressing her hand to her heart. "They aren't as pretty, and they aren't as durable either. But every one of us has one deep inside, right here. Its what pushes us to do new things, and try impossible stuff. It's why we end up in crazy situations, and end up doing things we shouldn't be able to. ...There are even stories of some humans who could use things kind-of like psyonics--all sorts of magic. It's why even when we're hurt very badly, we still get up and keep going. Even when the odds are against us, and what we want or need is impossible to attain, we keep trying.
...It's not the same. But I'd like to think it's pretty close."

"How come humans don't have cores?" Shanra took a moment to ponder the small corleo's question then sat down.
"Come little one, sit by me, and I shall try to answer your question." She waited for the young lady to make herself comfortable next to her and then began....
"The Creator is the one who decides what gifts each race will receive, and for you and your kind, he gave you the gift of psionics, therefore you carry with you your core. Without it, you would not be able to use your gift. For humans, he chose to give us a variety of gifts. Some were given the gift of knowledge, some of healing, others the gift of leadership. Those are but a few of the many gifts my kind were given. Each human must determine for his or herself, what their gift is. I realized early in life that my gift was that of storytelling, and music, so I became a bard. One day little one, you too will discern your calling in life."

Auric narrowed his eyes at the squirt. Did she not see how busy he was? The cranky man strongly considered shooing her off, but then he thought of a better way to punish her for bothering him.
"How come humans don't have cores?" he repeated, making a point of being loud."I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HUMAN CORES!" Dramatically, he pretended to glance around nervously. After confirming that there was no one around to overhear, he leaned down and wrapped an arm around the young Corleo's shoulders. As though sharing a deep, dark secret, he whispered into her ear, "Don't listen to what anyone else tells you, okay? Humans definitely have cores. We're just hiding them. It's a long story, but since we're alone, I can tell you."
"For starters, human psionics work differently than yours do. Our abilities are fueled by something called 'money'. There's barely any money here, so that's why you never see us using our powers," he explained, making things up as he went.
"Well, centuries ago, the great wizard George Washington went to war to defend the human race against a bunch of red coated monsters who tried to make us give them all of our money," he continued. "He won the conflict, but in the process he was forced to chop down his ancestor's great cherry tree, the source of his power. So even though the Red Coats were gone, we were left defenseless. Without a protector, slowly but surely the evil he had been warding off crept back into our nation."
"Our leaders became corrupted and started stealing our money. At first they took it in small amounts so no one noticed, but eventually they just started taking it all for themselves. Then they allied with a different group of monsters called Bankers. Now no one is strong enough to stop them. They're so bold they'll steal everything you have right out from under you if you're not careful, even your core!"
"Now we hide ours away where no one can see them because we are afraid that we will be robbed of them. We also aren't supposed to let your kind know about them, but you seem trustworthy. Anyways, I've already risked too much by telling you this, so I won't show you mine, but if you don't believe me, you can check any other human here and see that I'm telling the truth. Try looking underneath women's shirts or down the front of men's pants. If it's you, I'm sure they'll assume you don't know what you're doing and won't be very upset."
That ought to be enough to keep her busy... and maybe get her in trouble, too! Good. He hoped curiosity would kill the cat.
ooc| I'm so sorry...

"How come humans don't have cores?" The older one looked at the small cub and smiled as she thought of what to say to one as curious and inquisitive as this one. It would need to be something really good to help keep the drive to learn alive and fresh within this feathered one. The older one thought for a while as the young one squirmed and pawed at her to get her attention and to hind out the answer. "Well little one there are many reasons that humans do not have the amazing cores like we do. They can't handle all that goes along with the cores. The magic and wonder of the ancestors that are all around us. There spirits or souls do not yet contain enough life and experience to sustain themselves and a core as we can." Hums and pet the cute little one grinning at all of the questions. "Also humans have other things that sustain their life within them. Like their heart which beats strong and seems to hold their core. It is what makes them tick and keeps them alive." The little one perked up. "Are they like clocks?"
She laughed and smiled. "No they are not clocks what I meant was it's what keeps them going and holds their inner strengths and secrets. Their magic and strength comes from within them while ours comes from our core. Their core is different from ours and is inside of them. It doesn't sit outside on their chest as they need more things between it and the world to have the core stay protected. They don't have claws and canines like we do to protect it. They also don't have fur to help keep the core safe so it is under their ribs and skin. This helps them stay alive while the core stays safe from the other elements. And they don't have the same connection to the elements that we have." She smiled and continued to talk with the pretty girl and answer her questions as they arose. This one would make for a wise and skilled one as it grew up she was sure of this and wanted to help nurture it.

humans lack cores for the simple reason that they just lack the ability to wield greater power. For their unbridled greed, selfishness, and chaotic natures have proven they cannot be trusted.
