Since this is a forum for mothers, expectign mothers, and simply those who are proud to have mothers, or simply hear becaue they want to be, we need a section on Prenatel Care, things the mother can do to make her self as comfertable as possible while pregnant

Lots and lots of Aveno products! For some reason my skind was SOOO itchy during my pregnancy. It's not good for the fetus to use too much cortisone cream so I relied on Aveno baths and lotions. It was really a lifesaver.

wow They made you gain weight? they are yelling at me right now...

Funny thing is for the first 4 months of my pregnancy I was loosing weight like crazy and lost about 10 lbs in a month becuae I was so sick (this was in my fourth month... So when I gained back 10 lbs over winter break the doctors yelled at me. crying

Is there anything safe to take for Heart burn? I've been getting that almost hourly lately... >.< And I can't take Tums. sad

Hmm no tums? I would say just make sure you stay upright after all meals and eat smaller amounts more often. It should help a little. I relied on tums during my pregnancy.

And yeah, they made me gain weight. I ended up gainig like 40 pounds and my son was only 2.4 when he was born. But don't worry, I lost it all smile

Extra care on your teeth and extra calcium in your diet.

I brushed every day several times, and took prenatal pills...but with my first pregnancy my teeth just crumbled as they weakened. No one told me I needed to do anything extra...and I was annal about dental care so I was a little pissed that I wasn't warned that it could happen. So just pay attention and be sure your dentist is in on the pregnancy, too.

no tums????!!!!

yuck since I am lactose intolerant, I ate those Tums [generic only, tho, cause tums taste awful] for calcium and for leg cramps.

Yogurt, maybe? although it gets to a point where the little bugger is just kicking you in the stomach and lungs, there is no cure for that except to give birth.

When i was preggers with my first child i had heartburn for just over three months (triggered by an amtrak trip... never again) and tums just wouldn't work. Thankfully I am done with the baby thing (one of each... I'm done) at least anytime soon... anyway, i asked my doctor... and sometimes babies can cause acid reflux and you just have to deal with it.

Anything that helps heartburn and swollen feet!! Thats what was the worse part of both my pregnancies!

i didn't have trouble with heartburn but was told that in addition to eating several smaller meals, drinking milk and avoiding spicy foods is supposed to also help. against swollen feet you could try nettle (Urtica dioica) tea and resting your feet and legs high as often as possible.

Try to avoid any fatty foods or fast food. Whenever I ate that I had horrible heart burn, and gas (lol). Plus, it's not good for the baby. If you do go out for a meal, try getting a salad or picking the healthier items on the menu. I know it can be hard though, I had the worst cravings for cheeseburgers in my first trimester. And I was a vegetarian before I was pregnant! (I took up meat again for the protein).

If you're all prego during the summer, eat some popsicles. Really helped me out on those really hot days. For swollen feet, stick them in a pool or a tub of cold water, feels really nice. Keep them up as well (that's what the doctor told me), it'll help with the blood flow.

I gained about 43 pounds and have about 15 left on me. But I didn't get in trouble for my weight gain, but my sister did (and we had the same doctor). So she's really watching what she eats this time with her second. Avoid sugary foods (that's what did it to her).

Hope this helps out!
