There was a Christmas charity ball going on in the heart of Gotham. All of Gotham's richest and finest were attending the ball for Christmas. Not only was there dancing involved, there was also a silent auction taking place to help the children of the city as well as those who are in need during the holidays. Familiar faces of celebrities, to athletes, famous theater actors and actresses alike were attending. This place was also a good place to catch scandals that were going on behind closed doors. Who knows what else the rich and wealthy were trying to cover up by slipping important investments and under the table revenues under the red carpet?

Trying to blend in the with the rich and famous, wasn't exactly her thing. She could pass it off, because she was a natural born beauty. Having the ability to draw in her audience, by the way she carried herself and presented herself by the way she spoke and acted. She was not there to show off herself, not this time. This time, she was looking for someone and she figured eventually she would bump into said person. Because the person she was seeking, has a known history for showing up to events such as this. Patience is what she had, time however was a different story.

In the past, there were days that Dr. Cecilia Reyez never got to venture out into the public eye unless there was some sort of investigation going on. Let alone taking some personal time away from the league. Then there were times such as today, that she got to experience one of the many special perks of working for the league. Being undercover, as well as being someone else for a change. By stepping into someone else's shoes and seeing the world from a different set of eyes. Not at all used to being all dolled up like a superstar model. Her hair was straightened for a change and pulled back into a loose french braid that was stuffed with exotic flowers. Makeup that was carefully brushed into place along her features, to help add to the mystique she was already displaying. Wearing a beautiful creamy colored Versace lacy top, that was adorned with precious rubies. The rubies were sewn into the material of her top as well as her bottom, flowing skirt. To keep her warm from the cold, was a vanilla colored Russian fur coat. A ruby colored heel made impact with the cold concrete of the street before stepping up and onto the red carpet lining the stairwell leading inside, one of Gotham City's historical buildings along the square. The chandeliers inside provided enough ambient light to show the world the absolute exquisite, divine taste of the wealthy being displayed for all to see. Dr. Reyez stopped at the steps and turned her head around to glance over her shoulder towards the handsome man approaching her.

Bruce was in the master bedroom of Wayne Manor, looking at some old pictures he had in a drawer. Relieving old memories of his younger days, something that he rarely did. All of a sudden, Alfred walked in, telling him about the Charity Ball/Gala that was going down in Downtown Gotham. Bruce stood up, sighed, and walked to his closet to get one of his best suits. Well Alfred, a Ball might be just what I need. Bruce said with a faint smile upon his face, to which Alfred replied that every once in a while it is good to go out and get some fresh air.
A couple of minutes later, Bruce walked out, looking sharp as ever, and stepped out into his car, driving towards the Gala that Alfred had mentioned. He didn't have many expectations when it came to this activity, but he was looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, whether good or bad, they were going to be there. Once arrived to the party, Bruce handed his keys to the Valet Parking guy and walked inside, only to see a flock of rich people all over the place; exactly what HE had in mind. Now the thing was to look for those familiar faces.

Balls? Not really typically his thing. At nights d**k Grayson usually spent his time in a skin tight leotard and a domino mask as his evening plans. Actually doing something more than it had been something of a surprise to him still. But something told him he should come to this one, he was going to Chicago soon and well he was sort of participating in somethings before he left. The Christmas holidays he thought as he fixed his bowtie around his neck properly. He could recall some Christmas' with his family on the road they would stop at a Diner and dine in and he would always get a special desert but every year he chose the same desert. It was a slice of cherry pie. His mother called him her little Robin bird in tribute to what they do and the coloring of the pie. He smiled in the mirror thinking about them and the thought of leaving Gotham was trembling around these times. Still as the first ward left his apartment and headed to the ball he would have got into the called limo and soon went to pick up his date. He too, although it wasn't a screen for his identity, was a playboy. Once he and his date arrived and walked in he wandered around taking a glass from one of the tenders in wonder of who was here.

Why not? It wasn't often he ventured out to Gotham City. What harm could it do? A night away from all the crime fighting and investigating from Starling City would be nice for a change. As well as provide some time for Oliver Queen to clear his head. Dressing in one of his finest suits, he decided some time away from the family would definitely be a welcomed change of pace. Arriving in a polished black hummer, he pulled up to valet and handed over his keys. The flashes of cameras had already lined up along the sidewalk towards the entrance of the event. Smiling towards the news crew crowd, he made his way inside to get away from the paparazzi. Speaking mostly to himself, "Smell that? That's opportunity knocking at several of Gotham's wealthiest doors." Oliver's head tilted downwards, as he managed to take a quick glance out of the corner of his eyes. Who was that? What a looker! Was she looking at him? Or someone else. Not to appear rude, he straightened out his cuffs along the inside of his coat arms and slowly approached the beautiful lady. "Good evening, miss." He stated with a confident tone. Oliver was not the type to ignore someone looking at his direction. Always making it a point to make contact with them, even if it was for a brief passing and greeting.

Diana was already at the ball. Her golden invitation had pretty much been rubbed to pieces by now. Sitting by the piano parlor, listening to both the piano as well as one of the orchestral duets down the hall. She listened to certain voices of passing conversations that floated her way. Thinking by mere chance she might happen to see Bruce Wayne at this gathering. It had been quite sometime since the two of them last spoke. She wanted to see him, but did not know if it was appropriate on her behalf to approach him or if it was him who needed to do the approaching. Either way, she hoped to have a moment of his time at this gala if possible.

Oliver was not the type to ignore someone looking at his direction. Always making it a point to make contact with them, even if it was for a brief passing and greeting. Cecilia felt like a deer caught in a high beam of headlights heading her way. Her eyes widened a bit in surprise mostly. She had did not realize she directed her gaze at this man when it was Bruce Wayne she had seen entering inside right behind her. That's who she was originally smiling at. The Dark Knight Crusader A couple of minutes later, Bruce walked out, looking sharp as ever, and stepped out into his car, driving towards the Gala that Alfred had mentioned. Not to deliver a low blow towards the man who greeted her, she turned around fully and smiled. Albeit now that this moment was awkward to her. She had no idea who this man was. "Oh! Hello there sir, I'm sorry I did not see you." She needed to make a swift recovery from this sudden fall from grace. Obviously embarrassed, "Forgive me sir, I must apologize to you, I may have misdirected a signal towards you, when it was intended for my friend who just entered into the building." Now she felt like an a**. Cringing and quietly tsking, to herself wanting to crawl away and die somewhere. So much of a recovery. Waving her hand over towards Bruce Wayne, "Greetings Mr. Wayne!" Hoping he did see her, the doctor desperately needed to be rescued even if it was for a moment.

Not even 5 minutes into the party, and Bruce had located a lot of familiar faces in the event. He saw Dr. Reyez from afar waving at him, yet there was a non-familiar face with her, perhaps trying to get at her? Of course he wouldn't have it. Even if he wasn't Batman tonight, it didn't mean that he wouldn't aid his allies. He made his way to where the good doctor was and greeted her like he would any of his female friends. Cecilia, so good to see you. He gave her a gentle kiss on her cheek and hugged her as well. How have you been? How are things at the clinic? Bruce began small conversation to have her not pay attention to the awkward moment she had just gone through.
The other well dressed man was still a couple of feet away, drinking from his glass, watching Bruce and Cecilia from afar. Bruce was well aware that he was still around, so he had to stay sharp and figure out what he wanted, as well as every detail that he could find about him. He wouldn't let this ruin the evening for him. It was a special night and he was going to enjoy every moment of it.

There he was, a man who had come back from the dead. Parading about in his old ways, she gathered. But, she had no right to come to a conclusion like that. Maybe he knew the woman he was speaking with, she knew not. Let alone did she care. Making sure he did not see her, she moved on through the crowd blending in quite well with the surroundings for the time being. It was only a matter of time, until she found him standing alone. That would be when she would move in for the kill, as some would say.

She had not been hugged by anyone in such a long time. The feeling was welcomed, more than Mr. Wayne realized. Smiling as she hoped her blushing cheeks wouldn't show too much, as she returned the hug but made sure not to hold onto him for too long. Placing her cool hand against the side of his face, smiling appreciatively back at him. Dr. Reyez owed him for coming to rescue her just then. She would have to think of a way to repay him later. Plus, she felt so much better in his company than the company of the strange man who had approached her. It wasn't as if she had felt her life was in danger, she just had one of those off feelings that made her listen to her instincts. "Oh, I'm doing fine, thank you for asking. How are you doing since we last spoke?" She said genuinely in return. Tilting her head ever so slightly off to the side, the simple roll of her eyes, "The clinic is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three-hundred-sixty-five days a year including leap year. Never a dull moment." She emphasized the last bit of that statement before laughing quietly. Cecilia did not sound nervous, let alone appear that way. The good doctor seemed like herself in Bruce's company. She was grateful that he stopped by, to carry on small talk.

Bruce said while with a small smirk in his face. He then looked around briefly, looking for some glasses of champaign. Grabbing two, he gave one to the good doctor, and slightly raises his. Cheers then, for success in our own respective businesses and that they may prosper now and forever. Bruce said with a smile in his face.

"I'm glad to hear that you are doing well. I also know that you always keep on your toes with the family business. By making sure everything runs smoothly. Your family is in good hands, Bruce. I know that for a fact." Caring a great deal for her friend. Cecilia admired Bruce, he was more than an iconic figure in the league, he was an actual down to earth kind of guy, genuine to the 'T'. A rare find in this day and age. Watching Bruce capture a few fluted glasses of champagne, handing one to her. She delicately clinked the rim of her glass against his, before raising it in a toast. "Well said my friend, here! Here!"

Bruce gently clinked the glasses together before taking a sip from the champagne; delicious. Bruce had noticed that the strange guy had distanced himself a bit, acknowledging the fact that he wasn't 100% 'welcomed'. But who were they kidding? It was a charity ball, anyone who was anyone had been invited to the ball, so clearly this strange man was 'someone'.
Diving back into Bruce and Cecilia's world, they were catching up on what appeared to be months without being in contact with each other. Aside from his 'other life' having to deal with unwanted wounds and injuries, Bruce seldom came in contact with her for either lunch, tea, or just because he felt like it. All of a sudden, he came to the realization that the 'host of this party was unknown. Hmm, mind me asking, do you know who was the one who threw this party? Normally the host would be out here by now, don't you think?
