The cold of winter had been thawed by spring, and now as summer began to warm and wake the world Yonak basked in all of its glory. It took the hottest days of the Northern Peaks to ever reach this placid temperature. Here, in the last days of spring, it was already wonderfully warm. Today, Yonak perched a few lengths above the pool at the foot of his favorite waterfall, who seemed rather precocious today. The banks of the Yonak Falls were swollen with melted snow from the north, and it was fuller than he had ever seen it.

As the falls thundered into the pool below, Yonak laid stretched out in his human form on a narrow ledge as his hair pilled over the side. It was the best place to catch the sun, and he was near enough to the foot of the falls that he could feel the water's cool mist on his skin. The narrow ledge was a grateful recluse, from here he could easily keep an eye on his beloved falls with little fear of being noticed--well, so long as they did not notice the falls of white hair spilling over the side. He gave a lazy yawn, doing his best not to think about the day. He just wanted to lay in the sunshine, and enjoy the thundering falls. Even a social butterfly like himself needed a break every now and then.

Ivan couldn't believe their luck, their Father was on a trade trip today and took the twins with him. He and Sven were allowed to wander near the Yonak Falls by the Corelo Pride that lived near it. As the two walked out into the warm sunlight, Sven sighed as he walked over to large rock near the water.

"Careful about that rock, Sven. You don't know if its slick or not..." Ivan warned as he wandered further away from his brother downstream. Ivan was looking for a few good rocks he could sharpen into arrowheads or something. He wanted to practice archery when they got back to the community.

Sven had reached down as his messenger bag slid off the rock and thudded on the peebles below him, "Oh great..." as he reached he felt his body shift, "I---!!"

Ivan felt his blood run cold before he whirled and didn't see Sven, "SVEN!!!!"

((OOC: sorry about getting right too it there...but...somehow, Sven isn't one to wait for trouble...it just jumps him...))

((that's fine X3))

A sound tickled the korliyo's ears, the crunch of feet on loose stone, something called out in that strange human language. With a groan, he sat up. Well this was perfect. All he had wanted was one day, one day to himself, and here came a couple of humans trouncing in... He watched the two as they approached, sight seers he supposed. The smaller one made his way over to a a rather good rock. Yonak had laid himself out to dry there on quite a few occasions since the weather had warmed, but it had to be treated with care. Its surface grew slick with algae when the weather warmed. Yonak rolled into a sitting position, his posture curved as his hands rested on the ledge. The bigger one called out something.. Some sort of warning? Yonak had never endeavored to learn the language, but he was sure he had picked up a word or two. The smaller one stood just a fraction too close to the water, leaned a fraction too far. Yonak's gold eyes went wide, knowing full well what was about to happen. As the young man slipped into the water, Yonak leaped down from his perch. In any other situation he might have slipped into his feline form, but there was no time, and his spiderpaw form moved better through the water, anyhow. On some level he noticed that the larger human had whirled about and begun to yell, but nade no motion in response. The pools at the foot of the falls were greedy. Anyone caught unawares would quickly be pulled to their depths.

In a fluid motion, Yonak dived deep into the pond, gold eyes searching wildly. It took him a moment to find the human, and once he did he wasted no time. He kicked hard, his arms curling around the smaller man's chest as he willed the waters to bring them upward, to aid his own motions as he swam.

Ivan saw the white blur and knew it was a Corelo, he stopped short of the water's edge seeing that the current was way too strong for a mere human. 'Damn it...Dad's gunna kill me if Sven gets sick...'

He paced at the edge waiting for the two to surface...

Sven knew only the familiar enclosure of the water above his head before feeling something grip around his chest. His dark amber hair clashed with pure white before the youth felt blackness at the edges of his vision...

((bolded speech is english))

Yonak broke the water's surface, abruptly turning onto his back as he pulled the human to his own chest to keep him afloat. With a few strong kicks he had brought them both to the shallow banks. He kept one arm around the human male's chest as he hooked the other under his knees. The young man stayed frighteningly still, and Yonak let out a string of curses as he rushed to the bank. He paid no attention to the other one as he laid the still young man in the grasses. Yonak put an ear to the young man's chest, was he breathing?

Sven's breathing was shallow at best, his asthma getting the better of him making it difficult for the youth to properly intake air. As Ivan stood off to the sides he tried furiously to think of something to say to the Corelo thinking of nothing he muttered, "Please help him..."

CPR was almost out of the question, forcing air into Sven's lungs like that would only spark an attack which without medication Sven would have to ride out. Ivan didn't think that in a disoriented condition Sven would be able to do it. He bit his bottom lip as he watched the Corelo male, hoping the male could do something...

Yonak's face creased into a frown, the young man's lungs were filled with water. He took a steadying breath, and began a process he likely would never have started if he would have had the time to think about it. There was as jul, rather well known, that would pull the water gently from another's lungs. He had seen it used on cubs when he was younger. His juls on the other hand were all flash, big and theatrical. He wasn't even sure if he had the control to do something as delicate as pulling water from lungs... But with next to no time to think it through, he began the process the way he had seen others do.

He curled a hand around the back of the young man's neck, letting his head tilt back to open the airway as much as possible. Yonak took a breath, and focused on the water swimming in the young man's lungs. He could tell where it was, but for the life of him, couldn't get the water to move. The korliyo let out a string of curses as he began to try again. When he was a child, the elders of the rpide had taught him how to use his water shanak. Yonak had been.. well a late bloomer so to speak. In the beginning, he had needed to touch the water in order to begin its movement. With time being of the essence, he did not exactly think things through--he simply did. Yonak lifted the young man as he crouched over him, his face lined hard in concentration as he gave the young man a gentle kiss. It was so difficult to differentiate between what water came from the falls and what was of the body--the physical contact was enough to bring that familiar water of the falls back into obedience. He lifted away from the young man with gold hair, the water gracefully arching out of the human's mouth, connected to Yonak's own. He had meant to send the water back to the falls, but as the water came clear of the human's lungs, Yonak's tentative grasp upon it failed. He was left panting, exhausted by the complex jul. Gentle and subtle had never been his forte, and now he found himself rather drained.

Ivan's jaw slowly dropped as he witnessed the Corelo's power, well...he did ask for the male to save his brother. He quickly looked behind him to make sure that their Father didn't witness as well or else all hell would break out. His attention was back on his younger brother as he heard sharp intakes of breath. He was at his brother's side imediatlely as the Corelo seemed to become drained of strength.

"Sven, Sven...its all right. Your out of the water now...breathe. That's it little brother...easy in and out." he said, coaching the younger into breathing normally or else risk an attack.

Once the younger had regained his breathing pattern Sven turned to look at the Corelo, "Yo rinikka." he knew the basics of Fiyuri, a good greeting, Family Terms, to give thanks at the proper time and other things...

Ivan nodded in agreement with his brother's Thanks, he didn't know even half of what his brother did in Fiyuri but knew that what he brother did know saved their skins a few times.

Yonak sat back as the other human seemed to take over helping the smaller one breathe again. He rested his forhead in his palm as the adrenaline slowly tapered out of his system. His ears twitched as a thank-you in his own language was spoken, and he looked up. The mild surprise was rather plain on his face, the koliyo too tired in the moment to mask it properly. Yonak had been ready to give the humans an irritated telling off in a language they likely didn't know, for so foolishly putting themselves in such danger. What he hadn't been ready for was one of them speaking his own language, and rather well too. He knew this in english. He was sure he did, but it still took him a moment to find the words. "You are welcome." His accent was thick, and it was rather apparent that he had little experience with the human language.

"You should be more careful. You will get yourself killed with such stupidity." Yonak's face turned hard, somewhere between irritation and worry. It wasn't quite the severe anger he'd intended, nor was it the firm telling off he'd wanted to give. Somehow, he was just too tired. besides, he got the sense that the humans might have learned their lesson--after all, one of them had nearly drowned. He searched again, looking for the right words. "I am Yonak." He spoke slowly, hoping he had pronounced them right, and not made himself look like an idiot.

Ivan smiled then sat back as Sven folded his legs under him to sit sideways, much like a girl would do. Ivan gave his brother a look but let the posture slide as he knew Sven was tired. The younger male nodded in understanding to the Corelo, Yonak. He didn't fully understand the words, but he knew the tone of a good and proper scolding when he heard one. The Corelo was most likely scolding him for his foolish movement near the falls...

He exchanged looks with his brother before speaking, "I am Sven..."

"As I am Ivan." Ivan said slowly as he knew the difficulties of learning a new language. He recalled their English lessons with less joy than Sven usually did.

"He's my Appan Nijul." Sven added motioning to Ivan, then mentally smacked himself for stating the obvious. Ivan rose an eyebrow in amusement as his twin senses were tingling that his brother just felt like a fool. He watched the Corelo, Yonak for his reaction.

Yonak gave a small chuckle. He honestly hadn't looked at the second one, Ivan, long enough to really notice that the two were twins. It was rather obvious now. "Batujol darunog-wi, Sven." He looked to Ivan, but it seemed that one knew no fiyuri. Instead, he gave the dryer brother a small smile, a nod, and the only english greeting he knew. "Hello." He looked back to Sven, his expression falling somewhere between curiosity and suspicion. "What were you doing so close to the falls? Did you not know it was dangerous for those who can not swim?" The young man had sank like a stone in the water. He was unsure about humans, but any korliyo who could not swim stayed clear awayfrom the water-especially so from any tumultuous current like that near the falls.

Ivan nodded back to the male before looking at his brother to explain. Sven caught a few words due to hearing his Father exchange words with another older Corelo the male had somewhat befriended. Something about...the falls, Sven looked back at the water. He hugged his middle as he recalled the experience before looking back at Yonak, "I forgot." he muttered.

Ivan nudged his brother picking up on what the other male was saying through the Corelo's facial expressions, "Speak clearly, Sven."

Sven glared at his sibling, "I forgot the warning my Father gave me." he restated throwing a hand towards the water and shaking his head. He shivered despite the warmer wheather. Ivan wished at that point that he packed Sven's light jacket as a backup, just in case the younger male got cold.

Yonak gave an almost dismissive nod, seeming to be more intent on watching the two than listening. Sven seemed much more fragile than his brother. Even in the warmth of the day he hugged himself as if cold. He took a breath, still slightly shaky for earlier, but stable, and besides, this was something he had done many times before--it was easy. Wit h a gesture of the hand he pulled the moisture off of Sven, out from his clothes and hair. It was much easier when the water wasn't stuffed inside someone. Still, where he normally would have been able to toss the collected water back to the falls, it only drifted away a few feet before splattering onto the rocks. He looked back to Sven with a curiosity that masked any concern that might have been evident on the korliyo's face. "Better?"
PostPosted: Mon Dec 30, 2013 9:10 am

Ivan nodded in thanks to Yonak as Sven turned his clear blue eyes towards the Corelo, "Yes. Thank you again."

Ivan stretched his arms above his head before looking at his brother, "Father will want us to at least get to know Yonak better...think you could ask him a few questions?"

Sven gave his brother a look, "Not really unless...Oh!" Sven got up more fuild than what one who think of a male and went to his messenger bag. He brought out his medium sized sketch book and returned to sitting between the two other males. He opened the book hoping that Yonak would regonize something that he had drawn. Since their Father learned to pick up the Fiyuri Language about a year into their stay, mostly in part to their Mother who picked it up quickly in the span of three months. She could carry almost a full conversation before she got sick and passed after their first year. She was teaching the twins how to start a conversation, but Sven was taking to it better than Ivan. Sven had been able to draw many different Corelo's who had talked with their Father, of course he asked first. Maybe Yonak would spot one he knew...or spot a location he knew. That way the Twins would get a better feel for his personality...

Yonak paid little attention to the book as it flipped open, until he began to recognize some of the pictures. He recognized a few in passing but soon the sketchbook came to a series of pictures he couldn't have mistaken for anything else. His face turned hard and aloof as he watched faces of the Uhawe pride go by. Quite a few of them he had known growing up. He looked up at the two young men, wondering how they knew the pride...
