Just a little snipet of a story I started and never finished/continued to work on. I like it, but I don't want to continue it if no one is going to read it.

The Ivory Woman
amyln
Fires burned brightly, alighting the night sky with a devilish red glow and the stars overhead became clouded with smoke. Screams of fear could be heard by all and the vicous war cries of the attacking enemy was not nearly enough to drown them out. Men groaned as their heads were severed, women screamed as their bodies were plundered and children cried as they were snatched away from their families, killed or taken captive. One particular child stood staring almost calmly in front of the mangaled body of her father. Reaching out a small little hand, unfased by the activies around her, she touched his bloody forehead. "Papa..." she said quietly as she pulled her hand away. Blood stained her hand and she looked down at it in amazement. "It's red..."
"Hah, look! Another one of those fair-skinned brats! A pretty little thing ain't she?" laughed a harsh voice as two figures loomed overward. She glanced up, staring at them with her wide blue eyes. "She's make a good slave-girl I think." A man with light colored hair and dark colored skin knelt by her and reached towards her with a grubby looking hand. The little girl did not flinch as the man touched her face and pinced her arm. "Healthy enough too. I say we take her." He grasped her and gathered her up in his arms, standing. Looking at his comrade he smiled. "Captain'll be pleased wit her. Reckon the royals will want her? Then we could get tons of coin."
"I suppose," said the younger man. His hair was not so light and his skin not so dark. The little girl looked at him for a moment and then back at her father. She was silent as they started to walk and then she looked at the second man.
"Has Papa gone to Other World?" she asked innocently. "Is that why he was bleeding?" Both men blinked and the man carrying her laughed.
"What a smart little brat! I would have to say her papa broke the law and actually taught her something!" he chuckled. "Chare? What do you think?"
(more to come if wanted...)

I feel so bad for the girl, so innocent put into the hands of those cruel men. I liked this so far and I think that you should continue with it.
