Steam billowed out of the boiling pools of water and swirled about the large cavern. The only light coming from the palest of glowing crystals upon a rather overly consumed corleo. RenackTtal scooted closer to the pool, the corleo laying on his belly near its bubbling edge. Watching a bowl boil never got old. Especially when one needed to watch for the exact point of saturation. Just a little bit more now...a little bit more of the mineral dust and it would be ready for seeding. Ears perked, he scooted even closer in order for the pale glow to dimly illuminate the steam. His tail flicked back and forth like a clock. Any second now...yes.

Channa'Se wandered the cave, look for clues to the past, hidden in it's depths. So far, nothing was apparent, but nothing was lost by searching further. Surely some one else had to have come here at some point. The scanner in her eye piece searched for the smallest traces of technology or life, but thus far, it had nothing. But then it did. A faint reading, but a reading none the less. Not technology, but life. And perhaps that would lead to something else. Following the traces led her deeper into the mountain, where she began to think it was some form of wild life she followed, but soon the tracks of another Korliyo were obvious. It was with very little warning that she stumbled upon him.
Observing him for a moment before she spoke, she saw him entranced with whatever it was he was doing. "What is it you have there?" She asked, almost surprised that she had done it out loud.

Today's adventure had thus far been a fruitless expedition. It was the same old, same old. But Lia could never be truly bored of her expeditions as she was always followed by her loyal Sonal. Every minute he got to spend with her she cherished, just as much - if not more - as Sonal must cherish being with her. Their life was perfect now, complete.
"I'm tired." She began with a whine that got swallowed by a massive yawn. She blinked. Slightly confused at the two actions happening simultaneously. She hated being interrupted even by herself. She stopped. It took her a good second to gather her thoughts and figure out how she felt about the situation. "Home!" She demanded and stormed off in the opposite direction. Sonal sighed. Today had been an especially long and drawn out "adventure" which had not entailed anything remotely out of the ordinary. But this was his life now. He wondered if anything would ever change or he would forever be following about Lia's paw prints. He inwardly laughed at her obvious inner conflict. Most Corleo's had inner conflict about pervasive moral issues, goodness knows what Lia was having internal conflict about. It certainly wasn't anything as heavy or intellectual as morals. As she demanded they return home, he smiled. Bed sounded nice.
He began to follow her, when a strange glowing caught his eye. He turned on his heels and began to satiate his curiosity. It was very unlike Sonal to leave Lia's side, but something about this glowing was so magical he desperately needed to find out what it was. He did not even give a second thought as to whether Lia would follow him or not. He reached the cave mouth and entered. What a sight he beheld! It took Lia a good couple of metres before she realised Sonal was no longer beside her. She whipped about, this way and that, frantically searching for him. He had never left her before! What did he think he was doing? She caught sight of her companion slip into the mouth of a cave. "Sonal!" She called after him. But they were going home! It had already been decided. She had said home, so that is where they would go. She waited, but he didn't seem to have any intention of returning to her. "Sonnaaalll!!! She yelled louder incase he hadn't heard her the first time. She lost sight of him, the darkness in the cave swallowed him up and was replaced by a strange purple glow. She wasn't sure what to do. This hadn't exactly happened before. Sonal always just...followed her.
She had to do something! At a loss she thought of nothing else to do but run after him. Now that was a change! She suddenly was very afraid of being left here alone so she quickened her pace also and tumbled into the cave after him. She gasped as she took in the scene unfolding in front of her.(( sorry not done! Done! Had to move a fridge.))

A few more seconds...yes. A few more. RenakTtal had been so focused on his on the saturation point that he had completely ignored the rest of the cave as well as its contents. So of course as the words poured out of the others mouth, RenakTtal twitched. His ears turning all about as they took inn not only this ninja's presence but two more as well. And yelling? Was all that really necessary? The cavern echoed with the simple word of Sonal and RenakTtal grumpily forced himself upward and turned to face his unexpected company. How far in the caves were they? Far enough that he had hoped others would either get lost or fear to venture this deep. The getting lost part was preferred. "Peace...Peace was what I had....which I no longer poses. And you? Playing make-believe with long dead relics as the other ninja has taken upon the talent of noise pollution?"

Smiling at his words, even as the rather annoying voice echoed through the cave, she turned her eyes to his. "Relics are all we are. Why not have fun with them? The high times of the Korliyo have long since past, and now we are but faint memories of a once glorious people. The relics I have help me feel closer to those who came before." As he had not directly answered her question, she stepped softly forward, keeping a safe distance as she circled around, seeing what it was that had help his attention. To her admittedly untrained eyes, all that was seen was a small pool of water. Perhaps something was in it? Hard to say. Turning back toward the fading echo, she said, "As for that one, I can not speak. I came here alone, seeking the past, or those who held knowledge of it."

Sonal heard Lia's calls, but ignored her. In a strange way ignoring her felt both satisfying and cruel at the same time. But really now, he wasn't her lap kitty. He knew she would follow him and eventually she would somehow make his escape all part of her plan and begin to lead the adventure again. Ah Lia, always had to be in charge. But until he caught her, he was his own master.
He followed the purple glowing through the caves. It seemed endless - a never ending darkness only permeated by the glowing light. And now a voice! Sonal perked up his ears. Yes it was definitely a voice. Hmmm, now this would make it easier to track. A thought crossed his mind. He wondered if this creature really wanted to be found? But it was too late. Either way Sonal had to find out. His instincts kicked in - he was on the hunt.
His penchant for loyalty took over for a second and he threw a quick look behind himself. There was Lia. Right on schedule.
"Sonaaalll..." Lia was closer to him now so it was less of a yell and more so a loud whine. She caught right up to his tail, not even stopping until she was in front of him. She turned to face him. She was annoyed. "Where are you going? You just, you just left me!" There was the sadness of an abandoned child in her small voice.
Now he felt a little bad. She seemed so dejected. He cursed himself for leaving her like that. He looked up at her and then past her. He knew how to make her come around. "Lia. Lia, do you hear that? Can you see that glowing?" If he could peak her curiosity maybe she would not be so upset he left? This was her opportunity to make this her adventure and that would satisfy her.
Lia pricked up her ears. She could hear that. A voice? Yes a voice! She couldn't quite make out what it was saying. What was it saying? She had to know. She whipped around to see the glow. Lia was so intrigued she forgot all about Sonal running off. "Come on Sonal we must find out where that voice is coming from!" She led the way and was again content with her life. Any perceived transgression had been forgotten.
After a few twists and turns the pair happened upon a most strange scene. A crystal encrusted Corleo faced them and a black ninja was in front of them. Lia walked straight into the space next to the black ninja near the most peculiar pool. She gave him a quick once over before staring in awe at the other. What was this all about? She couldn't contain herself.
"Woahhhh...What is this?" She motioned towards the bubbling pool.
Sonal was more than happy to follow along. Lia was happy, he was happy. Eventually he also made it into the larger, more open cave where a gathering seemed to be forming. He hung back, wary of new Corleos. He did not have Lia's brash confidence and naive trusting nature. As the ninja stood on Lia's right, he moved slightly to her left, but kept his distance. He was ready to pounce if the need presented itself. As far as he could tell everything seemed quite calm however and he relaxed slightly.

((Since I dont have his profile up yet and I may have mislead...I just want to make sure and reiterate that the glow...is very very dim. The only reason its noticeable is because the cavern he was in was completely dark. So its only going to light up the tiniest aura about the affected areas. RenakTtal grew up in the dark caves so his eyes are naturally adjusted to the light. ))
Again with words that RenakTtal could care more than less about. The past? Relics? Wrinkling up his nose, he half glared at the ninja and huffed in irritation."Call me a relic again cub and I'll shove into that boiling pool of water. And what's so great about the past eh? If there was anything glorious about people my pride wouldn't have retreated into the caves for solitude. Which..." RenakTtal began to find his eyes wandering back to his boiling bowl in between words. For some reason he had a bad feeling about its contents. now. "...may I remind you..." He turned away from her and reached his paw out over the bubbling edge to pull it back, "That solitude I have..." His eyes narrowed as he scrutinized its contents before suddenly swatting it with his paw into the boiling pool and growling at the cub like ninja before him. before him " No more....I have solitude no more and my seed batch is ruined all because-"
"Woah? Really are you both children?!" RenakTtal couldn't help but notice the arrival of the other two and stamped one of his pawns on the stone surface beneath him. A small mineral cloud floating up into the air about him and refracting his gentle glow. "Do any of you know how long...it...it took to..." He was loosing steam even with the bubbling energy source right next to him. He could be angry all he wanted but that wouldn't bring back the separated mineral source he had collected for the past two moons. And this was to be his greatest crystal.
With a sigh, Renak flopped back onto the ground in a anouther cloud of dust. "Its a hot spring...a very hot spring. Why don't you try it out and relieve me of my misery."

Tilting her head, she listened carefully to his words, and watched his actions, trying to learn his intent, before he told her anyway. "Geothermal energy heating a subterranean water source, causing the formation of a natural hot spring? Fascinating! How is the water purity? It doesn't seem very clear, but that could be the lighting in here." She said, totally ignoring his gruff demeanor. This, was something worth investigating. Maybe not a clue to the past, but something that had a clear cause and effect. And that was worth looking into. Perhaps there was more to it then was immediately apparent. And what made this Jaku so grumpy anyway? Here he was in this fascinating cave system, with it's own little curiosities, and he was grumpy. How odd.
And then there was the new comers. The loud new comers. The loud new comers that were standing entirely to close. Instinctively, she started moving herself away from them. "Greetings. What brings you in here?" She asked, more to be polite then to actually find out, her mind still going over the processes of the cave.

"Uh, no thanks." She didn't quite understand why this male was offering her a bath, but she was not about to get her perfectly preened mane wet.
Lia could not believe the gruff and grumpy nature of this old, hostile creature. What was his problem? He was the one who had interrupted their adventure. If anyone should be gruff and grumpy it was Lia. Which was amusing in itself as there was rarely a time Lia wasn't gruff or grumpy about something. She glowered at the female next to her as it edged away, clearly intimidated by Lia's presence. She did have that affect on others. All this nonsense she was spouting! Geothermalthingymawhatsit and subterwhosybob? Who did this Corleo think she was? A bit of a know it all, thats what. Lia could not stand such people.
She'd had quite enough. And once she'd had quite enough, it was time to make an exit.
"Well it's been, pleasant." The words barely escaped through gritted teeth. "But we only happened upon this place by accident and must be off!"
That was it. She was done. She turned to leave.
But Sonal stood in her way. He motioned for her to stay. He was curious. Fascinating... The other female had said. Fascinating indeed. She asked many questions of the grumpy male, most of which Sonal did not quite understand, but from what he could grasp heat from the Earth was heating the pool of water. He wondered why the grumpy one was so intrigued by the pool and what benefits it was providing him.
He kept his distance, but moved in front of Lia to get a better look at the pool.
"We apologise sincerely for the loud intrusion," He looked to Renak bowing his head, and then to Channa'Se. "I was merely intrigued by the faint glow," He looked back to Renak. and your voice."
Lia had definitely made a mess of this situation with her rude and boisterous ways. It seemed it was up to the usually quiet Sonal to make up for her. Any other would have abandoned her and all her shortcomings long ago, but Sonal knew he would never leave her.
"So what exactly do you do here, in this solitude that we again apologise for so rudely interrupting?"
Sonal was completely sincere and genuine in both his apology and his question.
