~The Male Shade Banshee ~~~~ Rayne~

Shade walked out of the shadows with Mika in tow. He blinked realizing he had never done this with someone before. Was Mika okay? He looked at him.

"Mika? Are you alright? I haven't done that with another. Are you alright? Did it hurt you to do that with me? If so I'm sorry. Please forgive. I didn't even think about it."

Split second there was concern and worry then it faded and he sat down and placed Mika on the ground next to him. Absentmindedly stroking his hair.

Rayne looked down at him. Blushing again thanking you couldn't tell. Rubbing the nuzzling boy lightly again. Looking at him without getting it. Though a smile flickered across his lips when Mika said he doesn't find him frightening or dark. He got to more at Mika's level. Smiling and blinked. Returning the touch with a mere brushing of his lips over the skin of Mika's cheek. His lips cool as ice.

"That is nice to hear. I do. I am glad you can read into what others can't about what I do or say."

He said honestly. He watched the tail staying around his wrist. Looking around with him. He looked back at Mika. Tilting his head to the side. He flushed and hid his face in his hadn. The only sign that Mika had made him blush was that motion. You couldn't see it. He lightly rubbed his hand over the tail.

"You think that about me? The handsome and attractive. I am loyal and in my own way caring. I know you do Mika...I just haven't heard such compliments my way about appearance. It is beautiful...like a rose. Perfectly poetic...in a youthful wonderful way."

Was his poetic response to that. The smile left again and he nodded his head. He looked at him. Tilting his head and returned the nuzzle without even thinking. He rubbed his ears lightly.

"Just stay smiling and happy."

Rayne began to realize things...as Mika spoke and explained things...he realized he had a heart. A shade's heart not a spirity one of a banshee. To him that was fascinating but didn't scrap the curiousity and fascination he had in this neko boy who didn't run from him. With this realizations he started to in his own way notice more things about Mika...that his ears were soft. He played a finger over one curiously. Listening to Mika when he spoke.

"People usually run because of my races...they are afraid to look a banshee in the eyes for legends say it will hasten in your own death."

He was trying to explain in his own way without scaring Mika away. He looked at him and rubbed the ears and tail more. Hearing the soft purrs that left and laid his head against Mika's. Listening to him as he spoke again. Human? What is that? Well if it makes sense to Mika it must be true. He decided. He couldnt' claim humanity. Which is why others ran.

His gaze looked to him. Small smiles? He didn't know he even knew how to do that much. He looked at him and blinked.

"I always heard the expression of cold hands mean a warm heart. You sound like you are telling me it is true not just a housewife tale."

He said in a distant yet pondering way. He hid his face again. This kid made a pulse he didn't have shoot through him. His face was warm. He listened to him silently. He wasn't used to these kind words. some kindness yes but mostly from those like Erynion. From those near his own age...not so much.

"I promise I will protect you forever and always Mika."

He looked at him again. The first part of the shade's promise was in place. It just felt natural. He blinked a bit. He rubbed the back of his head with the hand that had been rubbing the ears. He listened to him. Looking at him.

"You would be afraid of the banshees form...I wish you to never see it."

He said in a voice barely audible. He nuzzled the boy. He was too cute. Even if he didn't normally think that. He was cute and sweet and adorable. He would protect him with his life. He lifted his gaze to look at him. Still playing gently with the tail.

"If you are hurt I will make it better. If you are upset I will try to make you smile. If you are abused I will stop the person and save you. I will be your sword and shield and pillar of strength. I am your shade bodyguard."

THere it went without even realizing...the full Shade's promise. He felt warmth from Mika's shadow but didn't notice. He said mood by tail and ears. Up and tail sway is happy. Back and tail between legs is scared. Tails and ears flicker lots equal danger coming. Was there others?

"Is there other signs? Like sad or mad?"

He stayed with the other near. He didn't mind it. Normally he was afraid they'd run. Mika he was afraid he'd lose him.

"I guess...I have a Shade's heart after all...now I fear one day the banshee's scream will mean I must fight the reaper for you."

That was sad for him. He wouldn't ever let him be taken. He played with the ears a bit more.

Rayne looked at him.

"Not the eyes of my banshee. I never want you to look those lovely eyes of yours into the eyes of my banshee."

He listened to him speaking. He hld the cat boy closer and listened to him. He was lighter of heart hearing this neko's ears. He would. He nodded his head.

"Thank you...cover your ears and clsoer your eyes would hlep me feel better. Even if I trust you. I don't wish to be what hurts you."

He said honestly. He listened to him speak. Nuzzling him back and loosely moved his hands to rest on the others waist. He lolistened to him as he spoke. This kid was certainly one of a kind. He would never let him go for as long as he could. Listening to him speak and nuzzled the boy as the sign of affection he had learned from him.

"Sad is opposite of happy. You feel happy right now...right? Sad is a down feeling that isn't anger. Or fear. You can feel things even if sad. When people are angry they get scary faced or growling or tense. Their body postures speak danger I think. Though not always."

He didn't know if he explained that right. He held Mika to him.

Rayne nuzzled him a bit.

"I feel movements of my mouth at times that seem to indicate attempt at an action never before taken. Perhaps I am thus smilign...somewhat? I do know...I am feeling a warmth in my chest since meeting you that I have not felt...in as long as I have lived."

Was the response he gave. Nuzzling him as he spoke. Playing with the tail still.

"I will try but I am sure you know them...just not recognize them. You are very smart Mika. I am sure the knowledge needs to be awakened not taught. I will do my best. You sleep now. I will...rest with you."

He said. Picking the youth up and held him gently as he carried him over to his bed and laid on it. Leaving Mika on top as he gently rubbed his back.

Rayne held Mika as he slept through the night. He should take him to a class now. He just didn't want to wake Mika. He watched him sleep. He watched him and dozed in a sense until the next day. Gently he shifted up. Smiling slightly at the corner of his mouth.

"Mika? Time to wake up...we got class."

He said gently but didn't move the neko boy. Just spoke gently in his ear.

Rayne looked at Mika and nuzzled him. "You can sleep...I will carry you. You can sleep and I will keep you safe." He said with a sliver of a smile. He chuckled a bit. Then flushed faintly behind the inky blackness and mubmled a bit. He looked at him. "I don't really sleep but I did rest some and it was wonderful thanks to having you here." He said softly. Holding him close.
