On another account, I bought an item on my wishlist, for the lowest price available on the MP. Later that day, the owner PM'd me, claiming it was mistakenly sold by her friend and she wanted it back. She also initiated a trade to refund my gold. However, I wanted the item too, and canceled the trade. She PM'd the next day asking for it again - very politely but fervently, I might add.

So I replied,

I'm sorry, but I bought it fairly from my end. It's a shame that your friend made a mistake, but I am keeping it, thank you.

And she responded,

If there's ever anything you like from my store, please don't hesitate to ask me about it. You're always welcome. smile

OK, so here's what I don't understand...is this for real? It seems too nice and understanding to be true, after the urgency with which she wrote before. I'm having a Sheldon moment, wondering if this is sarcasm. Or maybe she's hoping that at some point I will trade the item for something else she has?

Anyway. Not a response I would have expected. Can someone explain?

I would take it for what she says it is. She made a mistake, she tried her best to correct it, but to no avail. She's being mature about it.

You never know. It's possible someone donated some money or that same item to her, maybe after hearing that she had made the mistake, so it put her in a good mood, so she decided not to antagonize you for it.

I would have reacted pretty much the same way. It might be a long shot, but if I realized I had sold an item meant for a friend, I would figure it at least wouldn't hurt to ask, but if it doesn't work, life goes on.
