Lost Tide Island is a rather large island in Atlantean waters that is also rather flat. At low tide most of the island is above the water, and high tide, the highest peak on the island is 3 feet under water. Most houses here are built on stilts so that the inhabitants can keep them dry and keep the vast majority of their belongings in their homes. Every forge on the island must have everything elevated a minimum of 4 feet off the ground to keep the fires going and the crafts from cooling or rusting prematurely. The islands soil is sandy and rocky, the ground filled with salt carrying in by every tide. The only crop the islanders are able to raise is seaweed and kelp. They harvest these saltwater plants monthly, but the biggest cash crop the island has is its salt. The islanders harvest salt from the soil daily and each month they trade it to other islands and other communities in exchange for fruits, vegetables, and various supplies. Despite the size of the island, it has very few inhabitants, no more than a few hundred.

During high tide flounder and manta rays come up onto the island as far as the highest point, and roam freely. The Flounder are harvested for food, the manta rays, well, best to be careful where you stand. Some people have been knocked over, others have domesticated manta rays as pets for small children to ride on. The Eastern side of the island has a shallow water cove with very shallow crystal clear waters. At shallowest the waters are 2ft deep, and at the deep end where it connects to the open sea the water is four feet deep.
