If he had to guess he would say that it was the ruckus kicked up by the battle, the smell of dragon's blood in the air, or just the fact that he was so traveling so close to the water. It might very well have been a mix of the three in fact, either way it wasn't all that long after his battle with the pair of Peisio that another one popped up unexpectedly. It came up out of the water along with a surge of water and charged across the sand toward him.
Merikh was a little surprised, not having expected another of the water dwellers to show up so quickly, but he didn't hesitate to jump into the battle. He saw no reason to hold back, not when the dragon had started the battle, and not when he wanted another of their orbs. While he had yet to decide if they were good enough offerings he still wanted them to decorate his room back home. He gave the dragon his full attention, not worried at all about Yolana, as he happily took the Peisio. They met in the middle of a charge and instantly the two of them were locked in heated battle. This dragon, like the other two that he'd battled with, was a fast one. It was likely being spurned on by a mix of adrenaline and the desire for revenge. It was something that forced Merikh to stay on his toes as the battle went on. He couldn't complain though, not when this seemed to be quite interesting and challenging.
His long sword slashed forward, biting deep into the dragon's weak points one after the other, weakening it with each blow. It didn't take as long as he'd expected before he was able to get in close enough to the weakened Peisio to make the finishing blow. It crumbled away into nothingness leaving behind yet another glittering orb. He scooped it up, tossed it to Yolana, and said, "I think we should considering heading home, if only to visit with my family and drop off the orbs we have gathered thus far." Yolana merely nodded as the two of them headed back toward the city. They would see about hopping on a ship and heading on their way, back toward home. He was eager to show off what he'd done thus far and perhaps get some advice from his grandfather as to where he should go next to advance his training.
