I joined Gaia back in 2005 or so. I was in the 6th or 7th grade. I was active on this site through middle school and into high school, and then my attention was taken other places.
No one has posted here in a very, very long time, and that's okay. I teach middle school math now to a group of 8th graders, and it has made me remember my own experiences in the 8th grade. I lived far away from my friends and I would come home from school every night and sit in my room on my computer. In the 8th grade, one of my friends committed suicide. This, as you can imagine, messed me up. I was a very, very lonely child. But then I met all of you and this guild and this group of people pulled me through. You were my friends, you were guides, you were somewhere to belong to.
You don't know how valuable that is. I miss all of you and the times we had here, and I just wanted to remind you of how much of an impact you can have on other people's lives, just by being you. I hope you know how much of a blessing you all were in a very, very difficult part of my life, and the insides jokes and the people I met here are still things that I carry with me even now.
