The journey by ship was, for the most part, uneventful. War Monger had worked on his tan until the temperature dropped below freezing. Sei enjoyed watching a pod of dolphins swim near the ship for some time, but they disappeared when the ship entered colder waters. SirHiss simply enjoyed the passing scenery until their destination drew near.

The port city was simple, yet beautiful. The buildings and streets were dusted with snow. People scurried about in heavy winter clothes. Two ninja from the village hidden in the snow approached the trio. "Welcome to the Snow country." said the first snow ninja. "We received all the appropriate papers and greet you as friends. If you'd like, we'll show you to the inn you'll be staying at," said the second snow ninja.

War Monger piped up, "Sounds sweet. This cold wind is murder on my hair." SirHiss spoke. "I must respectfully decline your offer. We are here to train." He pointed to a mountain in the distance, "We'll be staying there." Sei smiled, "Silly Squishy. You can sleep and do your hair any day of the week." War Monger was shocked, "Sei! I don't think you understand the complex techniques and hard work that go into looking this good."

"Anyway," SirHiss said, "Let's get going. I want to get to the mountain and tell you both the objectives of this mission before dark." Sei snapped to attention, "Yes sir!" War Monger followed suit, "Aye!" They both smiled and followed SirHiss out of the village.

---Several miles and a few hours later---

War Monger panted, "I gotta hand it to you SirHiss... You sure can pick the training spots, but don't you think that halfway up a mountain in the middle of a blizzard is a bit much?!" SirHiss' reply was simple, "No." Sei stepped in front of War Monger, "Should we stop for awhile? Squishy's hair is in pretty bad shape." War Monger was near tears, "I know! It's horrible!"

SirHiss cleared his throat and spoke, "Now for the first three objectives of the mission. 1. Start a fire and keep it going. 2. Find food. 3. Build a shelter." Sei smiled, "That's not so hard." She took a deep breath in and made several hand seals, "Goukyakyuu no Jutsu - Great Fireball Technique!" She set a nearby tree ablaze with ease. Sei gave a thumbs up and said, "Objective number one is..." As she spoke, the blizzard quickly put out the fire she had just created.

SirHiss smiled, "Nice enthusiasm, but the environment makes things much more difficult than normal." SirHiss continued, "Sei, I'm putting War Monger in charge of the objectives for now. He needs the experience much more than you do. Try to help him out, we both know that he'll need it." Sei smiled, "I understand. I won't let him get hurt too bad."

There was a fire burning in War Monger's eyes, "Alright! It's this bishie's time to shine!" He turned to SirHiss, "SirHiss, go get me a..." SirHiss interrupted, "I've got some training I want to do on my own for a little while. I'll check on your progress later." He then disappeared into the snow.

War Monger smirked and turned to Sei, "Hey Sei...looks like SirHiss is giving us some time alone..." Sei glared at him, "Try anything and I'll make so you won't be able to be a bishie anymore." "That's harsh, Sei," said War Monger, "anyway, time to get to work."

"Next objective, find some food!" Sei said. "So....Since we have a barrier protecting the fire, let's just get out!" They exited their camp area, and began to search.

"Wait, we'd need to hunt down a rabbit or something," War Monger said. "It's winter, you can't expect any bushes or trees to have fruit." Sei looked down.

"D-do we..have to?" She asked. War Monger looked at her in surprise.

"What do you mean?"

"I-I don't want to eat any defenseless creature like a rabbit or a squirell!" Sei cried.

"Hmm...No one mentioned squirell, that might taste good-Ouch!" He War Monger said when a snowball pelted him in the face. Sei glared.

"Oh no, don't you dare, we WILL find something else. It's only a matter of looking in the right places."

"Yet you eat Ramen all the time," War Monger pointed out.

"Check again Squishy, I order mine without meat...." Sei replied. "Anyways, we'll go look for something other than rabbit or squirell!" She dragged War Monger off.

Hey! Sei, come on now, where are we going to find berries, while it's wintertime? Trees don't produce fruit in the wintertime!"

"I know we can find something!" Sei said. She stopped dragging War Monger, and set him on the ground. "Now let's search Squishy!"

"Sei, we're not going to find any berries-" War Monger started, but Sei looked at him, with an evil glin in her eye.

"Search!" She commanded. "Or I shall rein on you with snowballs!"

"Okay! Okay!"

Rougly 20 minutes later, a loud growl was heard from both of their stomachs. Sei sighed, and WM groaned.

"Please, there are NO berries, can we just go hunting now?" Sei looked at him.

"Fine!...But, on one condition...Make sure the poor thing doesn't suffer," she whimpered.

"Okay," WM said, getting up and smiling. "I'll kill it too, so you don't have to worry about anything."

"You're so cruel!" Sei wailed. "How can you be so nonchalant?"

"A man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do when he's hungry. You women folk are complicated. Ouch!" Another snowball pelted.

"Let's just get this over with..." Sei sighed. "We need to set up a trap..."

"How about we just knock a tree over some poor unsuspecting creature-" WM started, but Sei interrupted, wailing.

"Squiiishy! I hate you! You're so cruel, go get some food on your own!" And she jumped into a tree, and sat, her head turned the other way.

"Oh, Sei, please! I didn't mean it!" WM said, but she wasn't listening.

"Oh, okay. Fine, but I'm make that thing suffer-OUCH!" A snowball with a rock had been pelted at his head.

"Don't you DARE," Sei said menancingly. "I'm coming with you."

The two set off, but by this time, it was already late afternoon, with all the bickering and work time they had wasted.

"We have to hurry, SirHiss will be coming back soon," WM said. He stopped abruptly. "Look!"

A rabbit stood on a log, it's pink nose twitching. and it's large dark eyes looking around. Sei whimpered.

"I can't stand this, YOU go catch the rabbit," and she shoved War Monger.

He sighed. "Women....Fine, I'll go catch the rabbit."
PostPosted: Fri Mar 17, 2006 1:00 pm

War Monger looked at Sei before chasing after the rabbit. She was on the verge of tears, obviously troubled that this poor, defenseless critter was going to meet an untimely fate. He sighed before slowly approaching the rabbit, not thoroughly understanding what the big problem was.

He picked up a rock and looked at the bunny's eyes. They were kind, deep, jet orbs, no sense of hatred or malice lurking within. Just a peaceful little guy, munching on some leaves and enjoying the cool weather. War Monger turned to Sei, who was getting ready to say her final good byes, until War Monger stood up, tossed the rock aside, and started walking back. Sei looked at him questioningly, until he said, "Do you have any problem with fishing?"

Sei smiled gleefully and shook her head. "Looks like Squishy has a heart after all!" War Monger blushed a bit and said, "Did you see him? You'd have to be merciless to kill that rabbit... Though I do hear they taste delicious."

War Monger and Sei set off to find some materials to create a fishing rod. "I don't suppose you've ever done this before?" Sei asked him as they searched for a thin piece of wood. War Monger quickly replied, "Yup." Sei paused for a moment before asking, "Do you know what you're looking for?" War Monger answered, "Yup." Sei thought of another question, and continued, "So... Have you ever dressed up like a girl?" War Monger thoughtlessly began, "Yu----- Wait, what?" Sei patted him on the head as she walked by, saying, "Silly Squishy..."

War Monger had found two suitable pieces of wood after about ten minutes. He explained to Sei exactly what they were going to do, only to be asked, "Two things WM: What are we using for a line, and what are we using for bait?"

War Monger sat down, fiddling with his makeshift fishing rod, before saying, "Well, That's what I haven't decided on... We could try and catch a lot of smaller fish, or we could go after one goliath fish. It's up to you." Sei thought for a couple of minutes. She didn't like killing a bunch of fish when they could just take out one, so she said, "Let's get us a big one!"

War Monger, enjoying her enthusiasm, thought of the best way to do this. There needed to be a strong, sturdy line to handle the fish's teeth, and there weren't any real pliable materials around here... Except...

The thought almost made War Monger cry. "So much work would be wasted..." he told himself, but there really wasn't any other choice. Taking a deep breath, he turned to Sei and said, "Sei... I'm going to ask you to do something that will come as a complete surprise. Please don't question it, just act."

Sei took on a serious countenance, ready for the big news. She nodded as War Monger said, "I... want you to... *sigh* cut my hair."

Hearing this made Sei's heart beat incredibly fast. The thought of ridding him of his hair, often a topic of conversation, would be enjoyable indeed. She maintained her composure though, not wanting to scare him away from this decision. She hesitated before asking, "Are you sure?" His face was wan, but he nodded and turned around, ready for her to get this over with. Once he could not see her, Sei let loose with a huge grin, ready to trim with a certain lack of precision that would be deeply satisfying.

**Five Minutes Later**

War Monger was staring at the nearby ice, using it as a mirror to observe Sei's skill at cutting his hair. He took a couple of sharp rocks to finish the job. He stopped after achieving an ear-length look that was somewhat satisfactory. He smiled at Sei before saying, "Not bad with a couple of stones!" Sei was collecting the hair into a pile, not looking up while commenting, "See? That wasn't so bad. The crying wasn't necessary." War Monger wiped away the last of the icicles forming below his eyelashes. He walked over and took the remaining hair, tying it into a long, thin rope. Sei was about to question this before War Monger spoke, "My hair is as strong as any fishing line out there. This will work perfectly!"

He had created a fishing line of about thirty feet after a few more minutes of work. It was surprisingly thin, but would serve its purpose. Sei suddenly had a revelation, which she shared with War Monger, "I don't think these twigs will hold any kind of bait." Looking around the area for a more suitable rod choice, WM ran over to a tree and tore off a rather thick limb. He tied one end of the hair to a knot in the wood, and the other end around his waist. Sei started laughing at the sight of this. She asked, "So you're the bait? It'll be a bit cold, doncha think?" War Monger winked and said, "Well, unless you've got a more delicious-looking object to put on the end of this rope, yes." Sei walked over to War Monger, shook his hand, and said, "I ran out of pigs. I guess you'll have to do. Have fun!" Sei pushed War Monger into the hole he had kicked into the ice, letting him fall into the cold water. She sat on one end of the branch, waiting for any sign of a catch.

War Monger swam about underneath the ice, ignoring the cold and searching for a meal. He saw a five or six foot shark swimming around one hundred meters away. He smiled at the thought of a challenge, and thrashed around a bit to grab its attention. The shark turned to analyze the situation and quickly made a choice. "Okay," War Monger thought to himself, "Eighty meters... Seventy... Sixty... Fifty..." The anxiety was a bit much to contend with, but when the creature was twenty meters away War Monger pushed water to his side and darted to the right of the shark. He gripped the dorsal fin and got ready for a ride.

Sei could feel the line starting to move, and she got ready to hold back against the force. The rope almost brought the trunk into the water after the initial thirty feet, had it not been for Sei holding onto the other end. It only took a few seconds before the branch broke at the halfway point, sending the wood unresisted into the water. War Monger would be carried away by the shark.

Sei ran through a bunch of ideas to help War Monger, but none were plausible for the situation. A minute hadn't gone by until Sei could feel a deep series of vibrations from beneath the ice. Her instincts told her to step back, which she did just in time to avoid an implosion of the surface. The ice cracked in multiple places and collapsed in on itself, leaving a gaping hole near the edge of the water. Sei gasped when she saw a shark larger than herself being pushed onto the surface, with War Monger not far behind. A layer of ice instantly formed on his skin from the cold breeze. Doing his best to ignore this War Monger dragged the shark ashore, taking care not to break the surface ice, and tossed the beast near the wind blockade. He would have collapsed on the ground had it not been for Sei, who supported his weight and brought him over to the fire. Sei brought a spare blanket from her pack over to War Monger and wrapped it around him. War Monger, shivering from head to foot, said, "I... sh-sh-sh-shoulda... b-b-b-b-b-brought... a coat..." Sei smiled and said, "Silly Squishy..."

She looked over her shoulder to see SirHiss walking towards them, having completed his own training regimen. Upon seeing War Monger in a blanket, a shark, and a mass of fallen trees, SH ran over to assess the situation.

SirHiss approached Sei and War Monger, "Well, you got a fire built and found something to eat. Not bad at all." He stepped behind the wind blockade and said, "This is kind of nice, but it won't really do as a... War Monger, you look different." War Monger spoke through clenched teeth, "That may be because I'm freezing to death." SirHiss replied, "No, that's not it. Did you do something with your hair?"

Sei's face lit up, "He did! Err...we did! We used it for rope to catch this fish. It was tough work." War Monger spoke up, "That's right. Sei had to cut it with a couple of rocks. It was painful...but my hair died for a good cause..." SirHiss thought for a moment and said, "I applaud your resourcefulness, both of you, but I must ask. Why didn't you use your kunai to cut his hair? They are the basic ninja knives that no shinobi should be without. Another thing, why did you even need to use hair? Combat strength grade string is also a basic ninja tool." War Monger looked at SirHiss in silence for a few moments, then said, "You mean my hair...died for nothing...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

After War Monger had recovered, he spoke, "Hey SirHiss, since we took care of the first two objectives ourselves, are you going to contribute anything to the third objective?" SirHiss smiled, "I suppose it's only fair that I handle the last objective. Shelter, I'll take care of it." Sei had a quizzical expression on her face, "Before you run off, what were you doing training by yourself earlier?" War Monger looked curious as well. SirHiss said, "I could tell you, but it's more fun to show you."

SirHiss walked some distance away, then turned to face Sei and War Monger. He formed a lightning fast string of handseals and called out, "Hyourou no Jutsu - Ice Prison Technique." As he spoke those words, large sheets of ice sprang from the ground and formed a house. When the ice was in place, SirHiss said, "Instant shelter. Three bedrooms and a living area large enough that we can move the fire inside without it melting the walls."

War Monger was excited, "Nice! That training allowed you to make a house worthy of my bishie-ness." SirHiss shook his head, "Sei, help Squishy out please." "You were practicing handseals," said Sei, "that's why you were able to do them so quickly." "Correct, as usual," was SirHiss' reply. With a hand to his sword, SirHiss said, "I'll start preparing our meal. You two take a break for now. You both did well today."

"Yaaay," Sei said. She flopped on the soft, snowy ground, and lay on her back, staring at the icy sky.

"Why didn't you guys just catch a rabbit?" SirHiss asked, as he cooked the fish over the fire. "Why waste time fishing?"

"Well....."Sei twiddled her fingers. "Um...The rabbit, it was just so, cute, and, um...you'd have to be completely heartless to kill such an adorable thing! Isn't that right, War Monger?"

War Monger nodded. "Exactly! No one could harm something so innocent!"

SirHiss chuckled. "If you say so."

Sei sighed. "I'm bored."

SirHiss raised his eyebrow. "We're supposed to be in training you know."

"Who ever said training couldn't be any fun?" Sei said.

War Monger groaned. "Right now, training isn't any fun. I'm cold....And I can't get over the fact that my hair's ruined..."

"Oh pipe down Squishy, it'll grow back," Sei said. "SirHiss, is there anything else we can do?"

"Not really," SirHiss replied. "But the fish is about to be done."

"Food!" War Monger said gleefully. Sei frowned.

"Geez, don't you ever worry about your weight? You can get fat from eating so much!"

"Oh you women folk are always worrying," War Monger replied, and a snowball hit his head.

The three of them had finished eating. Sei was huddling around the fire as SirHiss and War Monger engaged in a game of letters.

"Is that the best you got, Squishy?" SirHiss asked the pondering Jounin, a hint of mockery in his voice. War Monger laughed and responded, "I'm not done yet. You have seen but a portion of my word play!" After a moment of thought he continued, "Okay. 'C'... Hmm. Ahh, Chidori!" SirHiss gave him a surprising look, expecting a much longer skill example. He thought for a second and said, "Easy. Counseling Hatake In Doujutsu Often Results In Decapitation." War Monger gave him a very strange look before saying, "You certainly are a strange one, but well done. Hmm... 'D'. How about..." Sei interrupted and called out, "How about 'D' for 'Dang, War Monger's getting owned'?"

SirHiss broke out in laughter as War Monger sat back by the fire, resting against the ice wall behind him. "Well, so much for that game. Now what?" Sei threw a small rock to grab SirHiss' attention and asked, "Yeah, what now?" SirHiss tossed the rock back at Sei and said, "Well, the initial part of our training is complete. Now we get to have some fun."

Sei smiled and exclaimed, "Yay! Where to?" SirHiss asked, "No where. This part of our training will be done right here."

War Monger looked at the limited space and asked, "Uhh... Wouldn't you like a little more room to move?" Sei looked at SirHiss before saying, "I'm guessing the lack of movement will be a big part of it."

SirHiss gave them a passing smile before walking outside and showing them the results of his handiwork. He had removed all of the shark's teeth and brought them into the ice cavern, asking War Monger and Sei to step outside so he could test his idea. Just as Sei was about to comment on WM's hair a shark tooth shot out of the far side of the wall, rocketing into the trees. War Monger slowly walked back to the door to spot SH, who turned to him and said, "Hmm. Too hard."

After several attempts at throwing teeth, SirHiss brought Sei and War Monger back inside. He explained, "Okay, here is how this is going to work. I will stand in the middle of our makeshift home here while both of you take turns at dodging these teeth. You both know me well enough to know that I will not let up for safety's sake, so stay on your toes. Now, who wants to go first?"

"Well, that's certainly reassuring..." War Monger said as he stepped forward, "I'd like to go first." Sei jumped in front of him and said, "That's nice Squishy, but you can't always get what you want. I'll be first." SirHiss looked to War Monger, who just shrugged and stepped aside, allowing her the opportunity. SirHiss led the energetic Sei back into the room, while War Monger was left to keep himself entertained outside.

SirHiss asked Sei, "So you know what to expect, right?" With a silent nod of affirmment Sei took a defensive stance, waiting for the oncoming barrage of enamel.

**Outside the ice hut**

War Monger had wandered over to the tree line just as the training exercise was about to begin. His thoughts had wandered elsewhere for the moment, remembering what it was like to sport hair worthy of the gods. The thought of potential styles for his new look was interrupted when a piece of wood smashed against his back. It was little more than a nuisance, but the surprise of the assault caught him off guard. He hadn't detected any strong presences around or he would have been more wary. Turning to spot his assailant, he saw a young woman, probably no more than seventeen or eighteen, ready to hit him again with a similar piece of wood.

"Umm... Can I help you?" War Monger asked, ducking to avoid the incoming plank. She said nothing and continued to swing at him. War Monger continued, "You seem to enjoy giving out pain... Do you know SnJ?" It was at this point that SirHiss emerged from their home, congratulating Sei on a job well done. His back was to War Monger, so he did not see the girl attacking him right away. Spying Sei's questioning countenance was enough to warrant a turn, and he saw War Monger diving out of the way of some woman trying to smash his head with pieces of wood. Sei commented, "Friend of his?" SirHiss replied, "If that's one of his friends, remind me never to help him fight his enemies..." SirHiss sensed that something was wrong with the situation. Tapping into his Byukagen, he concentrated on the girl long enough to realize that an illusion was controlling her mind. He asked Sei, "Could you go collect the teeth please? I'll handle this." SirHiss slowly approached War Monger, "So, looks like you couldn't avoid this ex-girlfriend, eh, WM?" Rolling to his left, War Monger replied, "I swear I've never seen her before!" "Sure you haven't. Would you mind stepping back for a minute?"

War Monger leapt backwards just as SirHiss released an angelic razor from his trademark black gloves. The razor wrapped around the girl's leg, lifting her into the air and above their heads. War Monger walked over to stand next to SirHiss, "So, what no----" He was interrputed by a board slamming into his head for a second time. Sei had finished gathering the teeth and returned just in time to see War Monger being attacked. Laughing as she walked over, Sei quipped, "I take this as a sign that people shouldn't date War Monger?" Standing erect again, War Monger spoke, "Hey! I happen to be very happily attache----" He stopped as he was whacked in the head again, noting that SirHiss purposely lowered the height of the attacker to within striking distance.

SirHiss smiled just as War Monger was about to comment, having him and Sei step back. "I'm going to bring her back into reality." Lowering her to his level, SirHiss released a light attack into the abdomen of the girl, resetting the normal chakra flow throughout her body, thus breaking the illusion. War Monger caught her as SirHiss released his hold with the razor. Looking up at War Monger, the girl gasped and hit him a few times in the chest, exclaiming, "No! No, leave her alone!" SirHiss appeared puzzled for a moment, until he suddenly told Sei, "I'll be back." He was gone in an instant, making good use of the flash step. War Monger carried the woman into their shelter with Sei following closely behind. They kept her company by the fire until she was comfortable enough to disclose any information.

Sei broke the silence, "So, can I ask what you're doing here?" The girl looked at War Monger, who gave her a passing smile. Blushing a little, she replied, "I... I'm not sure if I should tell you..." War Monger put on his best bishie act, saying, "You can trust us, no need to worry!" He ended the sentence with a wink accompanied by a smile, which was enough to coax her into disclosing, "I don't really remember. My village was attacked..." War Monger suddenly became very serious, "Do you know who it was?" The girl paused, trying to refrain from crying, before continuing, "It was a group under the Daimyo. They were recruiting for their army, and anyone who refused was..." Sei leaned over to comfort her, "It's alright, you don't have to continue." War Monger thought for a moment before asking, "Do you know anyone who was kept alive? We might be able to help." A pleading look crossed this girl's face, "You... You could help bring back my family?" Sei smiled before saying, "Of course we can. Just let us know how we can help!" Looking at the two ninja, the girl finally introduced herself, "My name is Reila... I would be most honored to have your assistance."

War Monger laughed and said, "Let's cease with the formalities, shall we? This deceptively wise girl to my right is Sei, and my name is War Monger. Nice to meet you." Reila looked them over and said, "I like your hair War Monger." Those six words rattled around his head like Naruto in a ramen carnival. He smiled and said, "I like you already, Reila!" It was at this point that SirHiss returned. He announced, "I couldn't find the person who put you in that illusion, Reila." The three of them expressed the same look of shock at his personal knowledge of her. Reila asked, "And... How do I know you?" Sei replied, "We find that it's best not to question where he gets his knowledge. Just know that he has it." Giving a questioning look to War Monger, Reila was affirmed when he said, "It's true. For example. SH, where is her village located?" He replied, "About 3.5 miles East of here." War Monger continued, "How long ago was the attack?" Replying once again, SirHiss said, "About five hours." Sei decided to join in, asking, "How many family members of Reila's are alive?" He said assuredly, "Her mother, sister, and brother. So, all of them."

Reila was absolutely speechless. War Monger said, "You'll get used to it, trust me. Now, shall we get going?" Offering her a hand getting up, the four of them wandered out of the ice shelter to begin their journey to Reila's home town. She asked WM, "How did you get your hair like that?" SirHiss did his best to conceal a smile while War Monger answered, "You can thank Sei for that one. She's a professional." Reila was ready to inquire about this to Sei, but noticed a shark skeleton upon turning to face her. She jumped backwards, obviously surprised, before Sei said, "Oh, the shark... You can ask War Monger about that one."

Reila looked back and forth between the two, finally landing her glance on SirHiss, who said, "I'll leave you three to get acquainted. I need to take care of something. I'll meet you in town in about two hours." With this he sped off into the woods before anyone could question otherwise. Sei looked to War Monger, who just shrugged and started walking. Sei asked, "Reila, care to lead the way?" Reila turned to Sei, who walked next to her and gave her a hug, saying, "It's alright, we'll get your family back."

(Sorry for a late update, finals are coming next month, so I need to buckle down and get prepared. Please excuse my absence.)

They made their way through the forest, jumping from limb to limb.

"This isn't going to be too bad actually," Sei said. "I still hope we don't get in trouble for this..."

"We won't," SH replied. "Are we nearing the village?"

"We are close, but SH, it's best if you activate your Byakugan, we don't want any surprise ambushes."

"Alright then," SH replied, while he scanned the area. He stoppd abruptly, "Smoke..."He said. Sei turned to him, confused.

"What?" She asked, and WM pointed and gasped. "Smoke!"

"Oh no!" Sei said. The black smoke was rising up from where the village stood.

"It's on fire! We have to hurry!" Sei said, and the three hurried even faster than before.

----

-----------

"Oh, I hope they'll be coming back soon," Reila said. She glanced at Fafnir. "What if the Damiyo finds us?"

" Hopefull, they won't," Fafnir said. "Even if they did, I'd be able to fight them off." His ears perked, and his nose twitched.

"Get down," he growled. "Someone's coming. Go! Into the bush!" Reila crawled and huddled herslelf into the bush as far as she could.

Two men dressed in maroon and gray uniforms appeared a minute later.

"Stupid girl," one of the men muttered. "I know I saw her escape somewhere into here..."

Reila's eyes widened in fear, and Fafnir quickly moved nearer to her, to sheild her from the men.

"Why even bother going after her? She seems to be of no great importance," the other man said yawning. They stepped into the clearing, where Fafnir and Reila were.

"We were ordered to recruit and capture as many people as we could, Hanir," the first man replied. He eyed Fafnir.

"Well, there's nothing here but an ugly wolf. Let's go Neeve" said Hanir. Fafnir growled menancingly, but the men laughed.

"Fine," Hanir said, and they exited the clearing.

"Stay in there," Fafnir said. "We must be on our gaurd..."

--------

"Oh no..."Sei said. SH hook his head sadly, and WM looked down.

The village was ruined. The fire had already consumed some of the huts, and there were dead corpses....

"Let's hurry and put that fire out," SH said. "As terrible as it looks, at least not the whole thing is burned down...Sei, go fetch some water." Sei nodded, and started running. SH turned to WM. "Go with Sei, I'll search around for more people." WM nodded, and rushed off.

"Alright!" Sei called out to the group, "Let's put out these flames as soon as possible, so we can move on to a search for survivors. I'll be using my water jutsu, SH will be using ice, and WM will be..." She stared at War Monger for a few seconds before saying, "You... don't really have any fire-fighting abilities, do you?" War Monger thought for a moment and responded, "Nope. I have an idea though, trust me. Let's get to work!" SirHiss and Sei looked at each other, shrugged, and went to work.

War Monger looked at Sei and SirHiss as they sprinted off to different areas of the street. They began to extinguish the flames on each house with their respective abilities. WM thought, "Alright. There's no reason this shouldn't work. So, down to business!" He turned around and got into a crouched position. "This has to be done perfectly..." After taking a moment to gather himself, War Monger spun around and performed the sexiest pose he could think of. He winked and made a kissing face toward the flames, giving his abs a gentle caress, which instantly pushed the fire into submission. He stood there for a moment before smiling proudly, "Ha! Even the power of fire's resistance to my beauty is futile!" Sei strode over to SH and said, "How in the world did he do that?" SirHiss replied, "Let's keep the Daitoppa - Great Breakthrough that I just used to put out the flames a secret. Let him have this one." Giggling as she returned to work, Sei could see War Monger smiling proudly at the feat accomplished.

"Once was enough, let's get more serious!" War Monger exclaimed as he crouched again. He let out a near-silent trill and jumped into the air, giving enough time for a small parakeet to land on his arm. "Pete, welcome. We've got to put out a fire, alright?" Pete chirped and flew into the air, waiting for the proper commands. War Monger said, "Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" Several replications appeared before him, and he instructed them to follow suit with exactly what he was planning to do. On the count of three WM yelled, "Konoha Reppuu - Leaf Violent Wind!" All of the clones copied the movement, causing a massive wall of dirt and dust to be blown into the air. Pete got a flying start and darted straight into this dust cloud. His speed was great enough to push the dust cloud over five of the surrounding the buildings. It settled in a matter of seconds, and the effects were just what War Monger had hoped for. The dust/dirt cloud was enough to put out the flames.

"Nice, onto the next spot!" War Monger called out to the clones, and Pete gave a quick peep to agree.

**25 minutes later**

The city was now peaceful. Rubble was a welcomed sight after the fire. The village could be rebuilt from this, and now survivors could be treated. Sei, SH, and WM found a total of twelve people hidden amongst the remains of the buildings. All others were gone or already deceased.

Sei and WM looked at a few of the bodies. Sei silently muttered, "It seems that they were killed before the fire..." "Aye," War Monger responded, "They have wounds from various weapons that a fire couldn't make alone." SirHiss solemnly nodded before asking, "Sei, you are the leader of this mission. What do you propose we do?" She looked at the two of them carefully before declaring, "The injured have been cared for. Now we hunt down those responsible for this." "I'm way ahead of you," SirHiss began, "My byukagen has located a camp about a mile and a half from here. There is a group of shinobi holding some villagers hostage." Sei turned to War Monger, who's eyes began to glow. He addressed the group, "We made a promise to get Reila's family back, I don't intend to go back on my word." Sei nodded as the three ran down the dirt road, their destination straight ahead.

SirHiss stopped the group about two hundred meters from the enemy camp. "Sei," he asked, "What is our plan?" She thought for a second before saying, "War Monger, you need to be the initial force behind this attack. Head in with nine Kage Bunshins and target the enemy directly. SirHiss, you will take the back and surprise the group from behind after War Monger has engaged them. Keep the battle away from the villagers. I will free them, and then the three of us will escort them back to their home." WM and SH looked at Sei and responded, "Sounds perfect. Let's go!"

Two guards were visible at the main gate. "Hey, Hayan... When does the shift change?" A young shinobi glared back at his comrade, "Whenever those lazy idiots get out of bed..." The two men suddenly became more alert as they saw a lone figure approached their location. They drew their shuriken, "Hey, you! Stop or die!" War Monger let out a raucous laugh, "Drawing weapons on an unarmed guest... I would expect such an action from the scum that destroyed a peaceful village." One of them shouted. "You've spewed your last insult!" The enemy on the right threw four shuriken at him. A replica came from behind a tent to catch the weapons. Both War Monger and his clone laughed again, hurling the weapons back at them. The enemies were both caught on the left arm by two shuriken. More enemies arrived as the brouhaha was heard, leaving about fifteen enemy ninja to be dealt with. WM's voice could be heard, "Ahh, now things are getting interesting, aren't they?"

Sei had snuck around the side of the encampment to where the villagers were being held. The four guards stationed there scurried toward the front of the base, obviously going to back up the people who were fighting War Monger. The defenseless entry created little issue for forcing open the cage. Sei didn't even need jutsu to break open the lock, a kick was enough. She silently led the group out of the makeshift prison and into the woods, where they could hide until the fighting was over. SirHiss was waiting at the edge of the forest, waving at Sei to hurry over. Once she got there, he said, "By the time I went to surprise the enemy, there were six left. I was curious if you wanted to take care of them, since you haven't had the chance to fight for a little while." Sei smiled and hurried away without saying a word, leaving SH to watch over the group.

War Monger was just about to dispose of one of the guards before Sei leapt in and punched the enemy to the ground. She spun around and hurled two kunai into the chest of two more ninjas. Exclaiming, "Suirou no Jutsu - Water Prison Technique!", she immobilized two of the remaining shinobi in separate water bubbles. The remaining one attacked Sei, but she knocked him out with a swift kick before he could finish his seals. Finally slamming the two aquatic cells together with her chakra, Sei caused the two men to crash into each other. They fell silently onto the ground when she removed her hands from the traps. Sei turned to War Monger and smiled playfully, "You can't have all the fun, right?"

WM and Sei approached the area where the villagers were travelling. SirHiss walked over to the two and asked, "So... Did anyone get any information?" War Monger stopped moving and hung his head. He turned to Sei, who had the same look of disappointment at forgetting the interrogation part of their assignment. "Oh!" War Monger exclaimed, "They had a unique forhead protector. I remember seeing the same symbol on the Daimyo's--" Sei interrupted, "--cloak at one of the ceremonies. There's obviously a connection, so we can--" War Monger interrupted her, "--extract information from him at his village. It's about thi--" Sei interrupted once again, "--thirty miles from here."

War Monger and Sei looked at each other. Breaking the silence with a smile, WM continued, "So... Shall we lead them back to their homes?"

SirHiss and Sei nodded in agreement and began the march back to the ashen town, ready to greet Reila and Fafnir with the results of the rescue part of their mission.

"I wonder what Tsunade's going to say when she hears about this..." Sei said. She grinned. "She won't be too happy."
"Hey, we got the villagers back, right?" DonSnJ said. "And I'd rather not think about what she would do to us when we get back..."
"Hey, SirHiss," Sei whispered as they neared the village. "I mean, Reila's family is alive, and all these villagers seem pretty happy that they're alive...But-"
"But what?" SirHiss replied. Sei looked down.
"Their village...it's completely ruined. "What are we going to do?"
"They can rebuild it, it should only take them a few months..."SirHiss said. War Monger slid over to them.
"Hey, just what are we talking about?" He asked, grinning. Sei frowned.
"It just doesn't seem right...A few months may seem too long for the villagers..."
"We'll talk later, for now, look," SirHiss said. he pointed, and there stood Reila with Fafnir.
She was overjoyed, tears trickling down her cheeks, and a wide smile on her face.
"You, you all are well!" She cried. She gathered them into a hug, surprising all of them.
"Oh, it's good to see that you're safe!" Sei said, and she hugged Reila back. "You might want to go after your family, they're alive, and doing well," Sei added. Reila smiled.
"I don't know how much I could possibly thank you three," Reila replied.
"Hey, don't worry about it. We're doing our jobs, that's all," War Monger chimmed in. Fafnir's growl was heard. SirHiss looked at him.
"Job well done Fafnir," he said, rubbing the large wolf's head. "You can go now."
"Un, it's my job," Fafnir said. He dissapeared in a cloud of nin-smoke.

The village had improved considerably, since some of the villagers had already gone about, tidying up the place. A few small children ran around laughing, as if nothing had happened.
"Well Sei, does it look okay to you? It seems that they're getting along fine," SirHiss said. Sei smiled.
"Yeah...I suppose it was silly of me to worry in the first place. I guess they're pretty tough."
Reila came forwards suddenly. She clasped her hands togther and smiled.
"Thank you all for your help. We'll never forget you!" She said.
"Yeah, neither will we," WM said.
"You're just saying that because you think she's pretty," Sei said. She grinned slyly. WM's face turned red.
"Oh come on! SirHiss, stop smirking!" SirHiss turned away.
"I'm afraid she has a point, Squishy," he said.

The two continued on running through the fortress halls. "War Monger.." She said, and stopped. "Where are we going?"
"Good question," replied War Monger. He looked around the huge hall's surroundings. "I have no idea."
"Well....What do we do?" Sei asked. She bit her lip. "We could end up getting lost and then we'd probably have more enemies to fight..." She shook her head and sat down. "Come on Squishy, help me think of this," Sei said. War Monger sat down beside her.

"Let's see...What was our mission?" Sei asked slowly. "We have to figure out who's the person behind all the trouble. And, we're probably going to have to defeat him."
War Monger spoke up. "Sei, what is the point of-" Sei held her hand up to quiet him.
"I'm just doing a little bit of organizing," she replied. "Now, to achieve our mission objective, we have to find the head honcho of this place."
"But we can't," interrupted War Monger. "We don't know anything about this fortress." Sei grinned. "A ninja must take into account his surroundings. I guess we'll have to sneak around this place and find out for ourselves." She got up and dusted herself off. "Get up and let's go," she said.

For the time being, we'll walk around and explore this place
. Something's bound to come up, Sei thought. They had explored the fortress for more than a half an hour. "No leads on the big boss yet," War Monger muttered. All they had come across were minor rooms. Of course, they still had more, much more, to explore.
"This is going to take forever!" War Monger said in frustration. "Don't you have a better plan?" Sei grinned. "I do now," she said, and pointed ahead.

They saw two huge doors. Sei grabbed War Monger and led him away. They both hid behind a pillar about ten or more feet away from the huge doors.
"War Monger," Sei whispered. "It seems that you'll have to move on." War Monger's eyes widened. "Wait Sei!" He said. "How can you be sure-?"
"I just am," Sei replied. "Listen, you go ahead of those doors. I'm really sure that the big boss is up ahead. Call it women's intuition, okay?"
War Monger just stared. "Women's intuition is never right though," he said. Sei smacked him on the head. "Ow!" He said. He rubbed the back of his head. "Okay, okay," he said.
"I'll go first, just to make sure," Sei whispered. She started walking towards the doors when three men jumped down. Sei looked at the ceiling. So, they were hiding there, huh? Staying on the ceiling so they could ambush enemies...Nice. Sei grinned. She had been expecting it though. She had sensed their presence from the very begining, which is why she had hid behind the pillar.
"Why hello there young girl," said the first one. He sneered at her. "What brings you here?"
"Your face," Sei replied. She looked back at the pillar where War Monger was. He was watching her. She smiled. Squishy's so nice. "I'll be fine!" She yelled loud enough so War Monger could hear. "I'll take care of you guys, so then I'll catch up later to the big boss," Sei said. The men looked confused.
War Monger grinned. "Okay then," he whispered. He'd sneak away as soon as he got the chance.
"What're you talking about?" The second one growled. He brandished his sword out. "Enemies are to be executed," he growled. The third one stepped forward. " Prepare yourself for your passage to the underworld," he sneered. "Oh, how sweet," Sei cooed. Her eyes flashed. "Bring it!"
The three charged at once. Only one had a weapon. Good. She formed the hand seals and yelled, "Kage Bunshin No Jutsu!" Two other Sei's appeared. "Bunshin Bakuha," she muttered. One Bunshin was set to explode.
The Sei's charged. Two Sei-bunshin's ran up to the man with the sword. One kicked him the stomach, to where he blocked with his sword. The Sei-bunshin flipped back, jumped, and kicked the man in the skull. It then grabbed the sword, and thwacked him using the hilt. The man fell. One down.
During that, Sei had been fighting two of the three men on her own. "Bunshin No Jutsu!" They both cried, and three bunshins of each man appeared. They all charged.
Sei dropped a low kick on one, punched another in the stomach and kicked another one. They poofed away. One managed a punch to her abdomen. She quickly flipped out of the circle. The kick had been hard, but she ignored the pain. It would go away. All the enemies surrounded her.
"Katon: Housenka No Jutsu!" The small fire balls collided into some of the incoming opponents. They promptly poofed away.
One Sei-bunshin, jumped into the large fight. Sei-bunshin number two jumped in as well, and Sei jumped back with them. There were three men left, obviously one was a bunshin. One man began forming the hand seals. "Oh no you don't!" Sei cried. She charged at him as quick as she could. "Katon: Housenka No Jutsu!" She cried. The fire balls distratcted the man. He flipped, dodging them. Here's my chance! Sei jumped up and delivered a roundhouse kick to his stomach. He flew back.
The other Sei-bunshin's had charged at the other two men. One wrapped it's arms around the man. "Wha-?" He asked. The Sei-bunshin exploded. Two down. Sei grinned. Her plan had worked! Now, only a bunshin and a man remained. She only had to focus on the real man as the Sei bunshin was taking care of the other one.
"Heh...So, you put up a well enough fight," sneered the man. He wiped blood away from his mouth. "Too bad you won't last long though."
"We'll see about that," Sei replied. Her chakra was low. It was to be expected, since her Bunshin's had done so much work. She needed to finish this now. The man rose and formed hand seals. "Kage Bunshin No jutsu!" He cried. Now Sei had five oponents. "Almost done," she muttered. She formed the hand seals. "Karyuu Endan!" She cried. A large jet of flame blew from her mouth. It obliterated the bunshins. She ran up. "Konoha Gouriki Senpuu!" She cried out, and delivered a roundhouse kick to the man. He flew back, just like the others, and was unconcious.

Sei looked back. War Monger was gone now. She sat down, and waited. SirHiss would be coming any moment now, and she needed to recover her stamina and chakra. Thank goodness I payed attention in those training lessons, Sei thought.

(Ha! Finally posted! XD)
