 Loddigesia was bored today, and for some reason, there was nothing inside of him that made him feel like going on his daily patrols. Summer was really boring to him, no one to fling with, where were all the mares?The only mare he seen lately was his sister, and so was so reserved - more than usual since the foal arrived. A foal of his own. That was what he really wanted now, and he wasn't even invited to see his sister's. What a shame.
With this, the hippogryph walked around, crunching leaves and rolling his eyes as insects flew around him. It was like if they were asking him to fly with him, but no. He did not want to. But why did he not have the drive to fly? This really bugged him, and he hated it.
What if this was it? What if the spirits were telling him that flying was not as fun as it used to? He shook his head, and ran into a trot, jumping over dead logs, and eventually into a gallop.
Without must haste, his heart pounded louder, and the drive was back. His wings made way and then he was in the air, flying higher, faster, than he thought he would.

That's what she liked to think, anyway. She climbed higher, flapping her wings hard to send her up, up, up... When she saw a flash of green somewhere out in front of her. The skies were clear and blue and the stallion showed up brilliantly against it. Her heart jumped. Someone to fly with! Who seemed to enjoy it as much as she did! How rare a find. She folded her wings into a slight dive, and turned, showing off a little, trying to get his attention.
It would be so nice to have someone to fly with, and maybe spend some time with another hippogryph. It would be much better than time spent with anyone else. Not that she would admit that outloud, but those who could fly were obviously superior to those who couldn't.
She trilled a greeting to the stranger when she got close enough.

As he was in the air, all he could think about was how free he felt. He was weightless up here, and that was fantastic, considering the amount of food he consisted on his diets. The back feathers on him were stunning, and he loved how magical they looked, soaring behind him.
Something was different though, it was like if there was something absorbing the atmosphere. The stallion slowed down his flight, and looked at the stranger who was brave enough to share the skies with him. A lovely brown and white mare with black speckles. And not to mention the elegance that she was flying with. Finally he was not patrolling alone!
As much as he wanted to converse with her though, he remembered that he was on patrol, and while patrolling, a stranger would be considered an intruder. He narrowed his eyes and gave a nod in acknowledgement, giving a cry from the massive beak of his. He wanted to attack, but he also wanted a friend to spend the day with. The struggle of it all.
"Beautiful day, isn't it?" The hippogryph swooped closer to the mare, but still kept his distance.

Miela was glad that he decided to slow down. She wasn't sure she could keep up his breakneck pace without injuring something. As it were, it gave her a chance to admire his coloring just a bit more, and notice the special sort of feathers he had. He really was a fine specimen of hippogryph.
She wasn't sure why he narrowed his eyes at her, but at least he said hello, in some form or another. Was she not supposed to be here? Mie let the idea play around in her head for a moment, considering him. If she wasn't supposed to be there, then she could leave, rather than get into a fight that she would probably lose. And while she was smaller than he, that didn't mean she would be faster. Personally, she thought so, but how could she know? Still.
He swooped in closer to her, opening up a dialog. Well, she would take that as meaning he wasn't going to attack her for no reason. Or without warning. Mie thought that, as a hippogryph like herself, he would at least have enough honor not to attack another who was offering no harm without at least a warning. Even if he did, she would just turn feather and flee.
"Perfect for flying, that's what it is!" She caught another updraft with a trill of satisfaction, wings spread as far as they could go, and rose high on the warm air, gliding back downward toward him, closer than probably he wanted, considering the distance he'd been keeping. "I'm Miela!" She called over the wind that sang in her ears.

Lodd noticed the size difference of the two - he was much larger than this Miela. Miela. It had a nice ring to it. Short and simple. His wings soared, allowing himself to remain in the mare's pace. It would have been rude if he were to just keep getting ahead of her anyways.
He smiled, watching her excitement from the gusts, and did not really pay attention to the closeness that she was getting towards him. He could always fly away if she were to ever get to close after all.
"I haven't seen you around here before!" he called, trying to catch the sight of her eyes. "Are you just flying by?" As much as he enjoyed flying with others, this was still his part of the sky, and if this Miela were to settle down around the area for a while, he would have to make sure that she was 'verified' to reside in such an area near the thickets.
"You've just caught me during my patrol."

Miela smiled at the larger stallion as he slowed so she could keep up. It was a nice gesture. And she'd hoped he was nice. It wasn't like she had much contact with others, especially others like herself.
He didn't seem to mind that she was closer so she kept her current distance, calling over the wind as she drifted upwards a little. It felt so good to fly with someone else.
"I've never been here before!" She answered, turning her head to look at him. "And yeah, I am just flying by. I saw you and wanted to say hello! It's been some time since I have seen another hippogryph, and never one as handsome as you, if I can say so." She meant it innocently, a sweet smile on her face.
"Oh, patrol?" She blinked. "Am I not supposed to be here?"
