Hello! This is a thread where you can recommend pieces both original and fandom related from outside of the guild. And like the guild localized counter part, I have implemented a few rules: 1. Works must be from outside of the guild. If you have a recommended piece or author from within our members, please see the thread for Guild Recommendations. 2. Like in the other thread, this is not a tool for self promotion. There are subforums to showcase your works so please do not name them here. Especially since this is a place for pieces that are not within the guild. 3. Tell us why you liked it so much! If it is romance centered, tell us what the pairing is! We will want to know some details about the piece. 4. Links are helpful but optional. :3 5. Respect each other's choices. Not everyone is going to share the same belief as you on what they like and dislike. So please be respectful and do not be hateful towards those who do not share the same views and likes as you.

I have a great recommendation for any Harry Potter fans. Shadowed Shinobi's fic Things Unsaid is what's considered a "drabble-fic", but it's the best and most powerful one I've ever read. As indicated by the title, it's the last unsaid words of each deceased character from Harry Potter. It's moving and some of the chapters might make you cry while others will make you laugh. Really, for so few words (finishing off at just under 1,500 words for the completed story) it's riveting.

The first one is a new favorite by Books of Change: A Study in Magic. It's a crossover of Harry Potter/Sherlock and I enjoy it immensely since the characters from Sherlock are true to their character. It also features a Harry who has to think logically instead of jumping to conclusions off the bat. The story is complete and the author is working on the sequel. I've recently gone back to reread a Harry Potter/Addams Family crossover series by kyaru-chan. I fell in love with this series instantly because fanfiction could use more Addams family humor and madness. The start of the series is Harveste then follows the book order up to Deathly Hallows. However, it stands incomplete but it's still worth reading.

Since I recently started re-reading it, I would like to recommend " Designations Congruent with Things", a 253k work Pacific Rim fic. Despite it's length I've read it twice already and will continue to read in until I get bored of Pacific Rim - hopefully never, that is! Designations is labelled under Newton/Hermann, but while it is very intimate and life partner-y, there is next to no romance. Which is, wow, definitely the thing that pulled me it with this fic - two people sharing their lives due to circumstances while being definitely not a love story. The characterisation is very good, it's very introspective and intelligent, the fic started small but just grew into wonderful story. It is set immediately after the film and just goes from there. Everything is very well thought of and I can honestly say I learned a lot from reading it... Plus, there is original music in the fic!

There's this really good Left 4 Dead 2 fic with several OCs that meet up with the L4D2 characters to survive. It's called Death Policy by germanjunkiewhore. I really like this one because of the romance with Nick and the characterization of the OCs. However, this story is incomplete and hasn't been updated since May 2011. I've been waiting THREE YEARS for an update. crying

A great Yu Yu Hakusho fanfic I've read was Future Talk by Graphogasm. It's a very lengthy fanfiction but very accurate in character portrayal, riveting story and extremely thought out as far as how the main character's power goes. Definitely worth a peak.

Another awesome YuYu Hakusho fanfic is Alice Alive by KKYOKO who is as sweet as can be. The main character is riddled with flaws but very strong because of them. It's a bit of a dark fic but it's very entertaining and has romance, comedy, drama- the whole shebang! Sadly, it isn't complete and it hasn't been updated since March. Here's an amazing Harry Potter fanfic that's a bit of a self-insert and it's complete: Lie to Me by flamingfawkes007. The story follows a girl from our world who ends up in the HP universe. There, she must decide if she should inform the characters of the terrible things to come or if she should keep quiet and let things unfold. It's simply amazing.

For any Final Fantasy 7 fans out there here is a HILARIOUS fanfiction written on why Sephiroth went crazy and became the villain. The reason? To cut his hair. I was reluctant when I first saw this but I had friends who encouraged me to read it and I assure you it is brilliantly written and very funny! The fanfiction is called Why Waist Length and it's written by SilverPard It had me in stitches!
