Soaring high through the sky Nual' Vos's rejoiced at being able to feel the cool wind on his scaly body again, to feel the sun's warm and welcoming rays dance across his face. He felt as the aches and pains of a several lifetimes of immobility washed away as fresh oxygen rich blood flowed in his body, driven on by his massive beating heart. He took great breaths of air letting the salty smell of the ocean water fill his lungs and letting it out with a big sigh. Oh how he had missed the world, he almost felt bad about sleeping while all this beauty had been so close to him. Though in older days it had been darker times but it seemed as if peace had settled over the land now, a good as time as any time to awaken in. Deciding he'd been in the air long enough he angled his wings down and began a slow gradual descent to his island home below. As he dipped below the cloud cover though what he saw shocked him, along the coasts of the island several small cities and towns had been erected. Nual felt his heart almost seized with shock of this discovery, he quickly collected and calmed himself thinking, Stay calm Nual, you know that this was always a probability.

After a few minutes of debating he decided to make a pass over one of the cities that was closest to the entrance of his home. Angling his wings down even more he went into a steep spiraling dive that would take him over a large structure with several people milling about in front of it. Swelling his chest up with air he let forth a earth shaking roar to announce his presence to the creatures below. Moments after he did this he pulled up and flew barely more than ten feet over the hospital's roof with a gigantic wall of air following close behind him that akin to a furious tropical storm but it only lasted a few seconds. He glided for a few thousand feet then flapped his wings to gain altitude and then banked coming back towards the group of people. He flared out his wings and quickly began to slow down and eventually landed less than a hundred feet from them. As he touched down he shook the ground like an earthquake and each step he took was like a small tremor. Tilting his head he began to study ad observe the group before him, some appeared to be children, some adults, and one especially curious looking avian looking woman. He did not speak to them, merely looking at them with an eye that glimmered like a jewel and was as large as boulder.

Gently breathing in and out Nual' Vos continued his silent vigil over the beings before him, he could determine that almost all of them were human... except one. The avian girl he'd saw while passing over the hospital, now his focus was singularly on her as she actually flew to his eye level and hear her sheepishly asked,

"Hello?" to which he said nothing, He simply continued to look at her until he felt the need to yawn, suddenly his jaws parted before the girl revealing to her a gaping maw that could almost swallow a small boat whole lined with jagged teeth. The massive intake of air would most certainly pull at Chiyuki but luckily Nual quickly exhaled letting a wave of rancid air wash over her before he closed his jaws. After that he began to walk in a circle around the girl as she hovered there, he was mindful not to step on the humans far below. His large glimmering eye regarded her with a critical look in it as if he were an artisan looking for defects in a piece. Finally after he'd made a full circle, and causing about twenty tremors, he came back to his original spot, then he reached out with his mind.

"Who... are you?" the voice would ring in Chiyuki's head, a deep resonating bass that sounded beyond old, it was ancient. As this telepathic message was sent out his tail swayed over the tree line knocking over a score of trees. The sturdy trees, who'd stood for generations, were topple like dominoes gently prodded with a finger.

After Chiyuki finished speaking Nual was quiet for a while, various memories flew around in his mind, the Great War, the end of the rule of the old king, the beginning of Vespar's rules and the crimes he'd committed. When he finally spoke again he did so as though he were fighting to keep back certain emotions,

"Though I am happy that these are peaceful times I feel as though they will not last... now while Vespar remains king." worry seeping into his voice. He look over to the spot where the king had disappeared,

"The crimes he committed could never be forgiven." the dragon said and looked back to Chiyuki. She seemed like a pure hearted and innocent being and brave considering she had so boldly approached him without a second thought. Not the kind of people he thought he'd find under the rule of that tyrant, though it was possible that Vespar had changed his image over the years to convince his subjects otherwise. Another possibility was that the king had simply purged any knowledge of his past from the archives. It seemed very likely to Nual that he was the only living being that knew the truth of Vespar and his evil deeds.

Lost in thought Nual almost didn't hear Chiyuki's question about the crimes that Vespar had committed, this confirmed his suspicion that the records of old were lost. He did not answer her right away as he deliberated with himself, he wondered if he should tell her the truth or to leave her stranded, metaphorically, in the abyss of the unknown. He worried that if he let someone know what had truly happened that Vespar would kill them, Nual's mind would not sit well with the knowledge he'd been the reason for another being's death. Finally after a minute or so of silence he finally said,

"I am sorry Chiyuki Lorv but I cannot tell you for some secrets must remained buried." knowing full well that he would be coming off as cryptic. Suddenly he turned away and spread his wings preparing to leave for seemingly no reason. Before he left however he turned his so he could see the girl and his voice rang out in her head,

"If you wish to know, go to Delphinya island." the telepathic message said. With a mighty flap of his wings the ancient dragon lifted into the air and he kept rising in a tight spiraling circle until he disappeared into the clouds above.
