Greetings again in the name of our blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus!
Jesus told the disciples that He had come to seek and to save the lost and to offer mankind life and a more abundant life. Our Lord was not talking about material abundance, but rather a complete life filled with joy and peace.
The apostle Paul, in writing to the church at Philippi, offered this promise. (K.J.V.Bible as always) Philippians 4:19 'But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.'
Blessings and a fullness of life is not simply a concept we find in the New Testiment. Lives filled with grace and blessings were recognized by Old Testiment followers of God.
King David, as flawed and imperfect as he was, knew and loved his Lord and heavenly King. David understood that, to have a full life, an individual had to fellowship with God and obey His commands. In the Book of Psalm 119:32 we find David's understanding. 'I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.'
What David knew and what we need to understand, is that when we walk closely to the Lord; when we love Him as He loves us, and when we surrender our wills and desires to His will and desires, we find more joy and peace. David knew full well, that God is creator, sustainer, and giver of life. Only God is able to satisfy the body and the soul. Only God can help us find our full potential for service, sacrifice, and eternal security.
God is the source of all that creation needs to find true peace and comfort. Again, we look to the Book of psalms. Psalm 145:16-17 read thus: 'Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.'
Life, for the believer, begins when he or she seeks God and asks to be filled with the Holy Spirit of God and His righteousness. Salvation is not only the beginning of a new and eternal life with the Lord, but also a life filled with a fullness that we can only receive when we surrender to God's will and purpose. What the world offers may fill our bank accounts and last for a little while, but what God offers is more than satisfying.
What the Lord offers is truly abundant and eternal.
May God draw us daily into His perfect will and purpose.
May each of us strive daily to share His eternal love and blessings with others while there is still time to do so.
Brother Philip
