The summer wind blew fruitful over the plains, the air filled with a soft humidity that dampened the air, making it a little hard to breathe and giving Tavarii a sweaty coat despite just meandering around the field, lipping at flowers. Speaking of Tavarii…he was feeling that ITCH again, just the beginnings of a tingle in his hooves, yearning for the need to move and go and discover and love… God, he missed having someone to call his own, missed having that connection. He thought he’d had it once--twice--three times. But he was unlucky in love--that was just the truth. So why didn’t he just pack up his stuff and move across the world?
Family… Family was the reason for this stallion’s hesitation. Having been welcomed back by his daughter only to help raise the little star born filly gifted to them… He’d found his joy once again, in Rixton’s silly faces and bounciness and just…everything about her was a damned gift. Told him that he wasn’t that old--that if he looked hard enough, he’d find a mare and he’d settle down and it would be a beautiful thing. Maybe he’d even have another clutch of foals--give Lani some brothers, maybe? Either way, it made him smile.
Someday.

The heat didn’t bother her. To be honest, nothing really bothered her. She was a go with the flow kinda girl, the kind of mare to kick it up a notch. A party girl, a riot and a half…except when she was bored. And she WAS bored. Family was nice and all, so sweet and familiar and loving--she loved them, she did! Don’t get her wrong, but… Boring. Boooooooring. She let out a sigh, lips puffed out almost animatedly. She wanted to do something awesome, something epic, something that didn’t leave her flopped on her side in the bed of wildflowers, her wings sprawled out behind her like a dilapidated angel.
She would be up for a kalona’s visit right about now--yeah, scary stuff, but at least it would be something. “UGHHHHH!” She gave a kick, propelling her flattened body a little forwards in the bed of flowers. “Pops, why does summer suck so hardcore? Right? Please tell me you’re bored.” She flopped dramatically, neck outstretched to her grandfather’s hooves, as he stood near enough to touch. When he didn’t reply, she pulled back her lips and bit him--gently--on the hell. “Oi! Down here!”

He heard her--oh, he heard her. He might’ve been getting up there in age, but he wasn’t freaking DEAF. He watched his granddaughter--well, star-granddaughter--roll around in utter boredom, shaking his head though he wore a smile on his face. What a dork… But when she bit him-- “Heyyyy now!” He reared back with a shrill, ears pinned as he landed his hooves inches from her face and the little brat didn’t even have the good graces to look startled.
“Maybe you should go find a boyfriend… Have him keep you company?” he asked, half-joking but half-serious. Though on second thoughts… “I’d offer to take a flight with ya, but…” He shrugged at his winglessness.

Rixton snorted, hair blowing back at her grandfather’s sudden stomp and she pulled up, hauling herself to her feet rather gracefully, quick on her hooves as she danced around him, teasing and taunting. “I’d loooove to find a boyfriend--but seems everyone is boring. You don’t think I haven’t looked? Sure, there’s ol’ what’s his name…but he’s like twice my age and have you seen his hair? I have standards, thanks.” She flicked her hair out of her face and offered a roguish grin. “You wanna have a race, old man? From here to the pool, as fast as we can, loser gets to eat a slug?”
