And I mean those stories none of us are actually completely satisfied with after we've started or finished.

I have gone over and revised 2 of my stories at least twice. The story that currently eats at me will be revised a 4th time and it's starting to make my soul twitch just a little with how unhappy I am with it, but I'm too stubborn to completely give up on it. gonk

Does anyone else go through this?
How many times have you revised your stories?
Did you just do minor edits or overhaul the entire thing?

I think it's something most authors go through, so I don't think you're alone. I've revised one of my stories about three times already but it was for very minor things- I never changed the actual content of the story. Actually, I'm about to revise that story again because I realized that I missed a consistent error that I tend to make in dialogue. Although it's a minor error, it's very annoying to me and I can't just let it stay like that or it'll really bother me.

For me it depends on how much work I think the story needs. Usually I just do some mild editing and smooth over any bumps and the like that bother me. But when it comes to my more serious works (like my books that I'm developing) I usually do a lot of major overhauling. I have one chapter that I've rewritten four times. :/

Yeah, mild editing. I only do minor things but then it goes from doing that one minor edit for one chapter to a minor edit for my entire story. xp
And now that I know that you edited a single chapter four times, you can't get all huffy with me when I mention that I'm editing my work yet again. wink

I do what I want! razz And for your info it just wasn't coming out right! xD It's not grammar errors or anything, nothing was flowing or turning out right. I'm still struggling with this chapter actually. xD

The story I'm overhauling originally was supposed to be some minor editing for a chapter or two. And then I watched a movie and inspiration struck. emotion_kirakira

So I'm in for some major work ahead of me. emotion_zombie

I recently finished revising my fic "Ojamajo: The Fusion Incident". I left the original reviews intact though.

I swear authors are the biggest perfectionists there is. you will never be fully satisfied since you want it too be perfect and in a sense when it is you will still try and better it. I also think its good to be that way ...almost like nurturing your fic x'D o gosh that sounded weird XDD

Lol it's not weird at all!
Whenever I get a follow/favorite for a story I finished and it's super old, I want to cringe it's so bad! Haha xp

But it is good to go back and see how much you've grown as writer 3nodding

That's so true, I love knowing how much I have grown. I used to be horrible but luckily I found my own style and trying to better it even now, though I still feel rather insecure about my writing sometimes especially if I see a friend updating their fic.

Though a part of me knows they are more experienced and writes a lot longer then I did emotion_facepalm
