Leaf Gem Protector Intro

On the south side of the quickly growing Celadon City was Gym built around the Leaf Gem. It was the headquarters of the Leaf Protectors and main lab for the research of Grass Pokemon and their environments. Many top scientists and researcher came here on a daily basis to study these Pokemon.

If a new trainer were to enter the Gym wanting to become a protector they would be directed to the Gym Leader, Sarah Shallows. She was the head researcher and Gym Leader and had been studying the Gem for almost twenty years.

Usually she could be found near the Gem, spending time with all the Pokemon who were draw to it. As you are guided in by her assistant she turns to greet you. Putting out the cigarette she was smoking, "Ah hello there..." She walked forward to greet you with a hand shake, "I'm Dr. Sarah Shallows...you must be my new apprentice, it's nice to meet you. Why do you want to study at my Gym?" She listens to your answer and once she is satisfied with your answer she continues, "Ah well then, that's a good reason, fist things first though, did you bring a Pokemon with you? I mean you will need one to be able to battle others and to understand why Pokemon do what they do. If you didn't bring one with you I will help you catch one real quick, don't worry these Grass type Pokemon will fully trust anyone I tell them is trustworthy."

If you didn't bring one with you she walks with you as you take a look at the possible choices for a partner. She takes a look at you and your new partner, "Hum...yep, that looks like a good fit... Ok then, i will help you train! I'll meet you in the training room...Charlie will you escort our new trainee to training, I will be there later once I'm done here." She turns back to her work as you leave to the other room. In this room you see all sorts of trainers and Pokemon, mostly grass type, Fighting and training and even some just sitting with their partners seemingly studying their patterns.

Lief Pyrex//New Trainer//Leaf Gem Protector//Celadon City

6:00 AM, to early for most people to choose to be up but our trainer couldn't sleep any longer. He was finally old enough, the day had finally come and today his father would take him to see Dr. Sarah. The grey hair teenage boy was named Lief, Lief Pyrex to be exact, and today was his 14th Birthday! His father had worked with Dr. Shallows for years, even before Lief was born over in the Leaf Gym. They did all sorts of research on things like Pokemon interactions between each other and their habitats. Finally his parents had agreed that lief could join them at the Gym and study under Sarah to become a Leaf Gem Protector.

6:08, "Man this clock needs to hurry up!...Dad said we could go at 8:00...ugh.. so ready to go!!! Ahhh..." Lief sighed after talking to himself for a bit. He had decided to just go ahead and get ready to go. The boy stripped down and headed to take a shower. Thoughts filtered through his head, while drops of water rebounded off his body, about the chance of getting a Pokemon, he had never owned one in all these years. He had always really liked his father's Leafeon but he knew how rare they were, maybe he would get something unusual like a Phantump. The boy hummed to himself as he finished up.

Getting out of the shower he checked the time again, only 6:30, still a while to go. Lief shrugged as the dried his hair with the towel and a shake. He grabbed his favorite shirt and overalls and quickly pulled them on. Before checking himself out in the mirror. Yep, he liked what he saw, red shirt, blue overalls...but something still seemed off. "Ah I know..." He grabbed his goggles and favorite blue scarf to finish off the look, "Perfect! We're ready for this thing!"

6:45, seemed close enough, Lief decided head downstairs and make some breakfast, maybe his parents were up already. "Dad...Mom...ya'll up? I'm gonna make some breakfast now..." The boy stopped as he rounded the corner to the kitchen and saw his parents and an amazing spread laid out before him, "Happy Birthday!!!" His parents had made him a breakfast feast! He smiled from ear to ear and ran to give his parents a huge hug, "Ya'll are the best! Should i wake up Lira?" His mother shook her head, "No let her sleep, it's still early, we just knew you would be up by now. So..enjoy!" She gave a big smile as Lief and his dad fixed their plates and jumped into their plates.

It was 7:15 almost time to head to the Gym, Lief could hardly contain himself and his excitement but he was doing the best he could. The boy put on his shoes and took out the trash giving him a good look at the ever growing city of Celadon. Even at this hour the construction was already underway. Lief just stopped and listened as the thoughts of the future filled his mind again. Today was the day...

"Lief...are you ready to go?" Lief ran back inside at the call of his father. Grabbing his backpack and throwing it over his shoulder he followed his father out the front door. As they head toward the Gym Lief and his father discussed what would happen today, he had see many new trainers come through in his years as Sarah's number two. He told his son about how the new trainers would get a Pokemon and then be sent off to train with the higher up gym members as well as be expected to learn about Pokemon and their habits.

As they reached the Gym the pair entered as Lief's father exchanged greetings with the doorman. Unlike most new trainers Lief was very familiar with Sarah, infact she was his Godmother and he had spent much of his childhood under her feet. As they entered the Gem room Lief's excitement erupted, "Sarah!....I'm hear and ready to join the Gym!" Sarah smiled as she turned around, lief already latched on to her side, "Hey there kid.. Hey Rich... so you finally get to come hang out with your favorite Aunt. Ok then, usually i ask why you want to be a Leaf Protector but with you I already know...let's go get you a Pokemon!"

The Trio went out to the Pokemon Garden to take a look at the Pokemon. It was always interesting to see what was out here, the Gem seemed to attract all sorts of Pokemon so you never knew what you would find in the garden. Lief knew he could pick any grass type he wanted. Suddenly while look across the garden he made eye contact and knew his destiny was before him. He grabbed the Pokeball intended for his Pokemon and slowly approached the Snover. "Alright Lief, time to catch your first one...remember how we taught you and I'll keep it calm...Bloom you're up! Sarah through a Pokeball and a Bellossom appeared before her sending a pink powder floating through the air. Snover suddenly looked very sleepy. Lief readjusted his goggles before throwing the ball, as it hit the Pokemon it opened and a red light seemed to absorb the Pokemon inside before clicking shut.

He had done it! He had captured Snover and was now on his way to being a Leaf Gem Protector. He ran and picked up the Pokeball and gave Sarah and his dad a hug in celebration. both smiled before Sarah asked Charlie to take Lief to the Training room. She and Richard, Lief's Dad, Had work to do.
