"...." There was no response from Olivia, who sat silently on the steel grate clutching her back pack. It was kind of terrifying knowing she wouldn't be going home. At least not for quite some time. She was used to taking care of herself and being on her own. She has spent extended periods of time alone while her mother worked hard to provide for them, but for the first time in her short life she actually felt alone. If her ticket wasn't a one way, she probably would have ran home to her mother. But it was too late to go back now. She stands up and places her pack on her back, slipping her thumbs underneath each strap.
'Best of luck becoming a Pokémon trainer, you can go ahead and exit the plane. The pilot unstraps himself from his chair and walks over to where Olivia was standing. He opens a hatch and drops down a rope ladder for her to use. I'd see ya out, but I have some work to do. Here, take this last parting gift. It's a paid receipt for a taxi that should be waiting for you. It'll take ya to the mind gym. Now get going!'
Olivia nodded her head and took the receipt. "Thank you for everything, I appreciate it. She slowly lowered herself down using the rope ladder, hopping off once she was a foot or so from the pavement. Each step down the rope ladder she could hear her heart beating. Thump thump, thump thump. All outside noise was drowned out, she was feeling extremely anxious at that moment knowing her adventure would start this day. Slowly the sounds of the airport began to ring in her ear as she noticed where she was standing. The huge cargo plane she was just in was already being unloaded, the sounds of human workers and Pokémon alike working together to get the job done.
She adjusted her pack and moved through the landing strips looking for where the exit was located. It was kind of surprising people driving bye were ignoring a random girl walking through, security must be lax. After about twenty minutes of walking she was able to find the exit. Once out of the airport, she saw her ride, luckily for her the taxi driver didn't become impatient and leave on her. She walked up to the driver and handed him the receipt. The driver gave it a quick look over and unlocked the back door for her without speaking a word. She slowly opened the door, and entered the taxi, someone skeptical to get in, since the driver didn't seem to inviting. Maybe she has seen to many movies about people getting kidnapped. But she didn't see too many other options, it was take the ride or walk aimlessly again. So she entered the taxi, and it sped off away from the airport.
After a fairly short ride she had arrived in saffron city, and stepped out of the taxi in front of the Mind Gym.....
'Olivia, come back to us....' Olivia shook her head wildly as she snapped back to reality hearing her mentors voice. Olivia was in a dream like state as she reminisced on the day she arrived. It seemed like so long ago that she had arrived, even though it has only been one short year. She opened her eyes to see a happy sight. Her beloved Espurr, the Pokémon she was given the day she arrived at the mind gym. She smiled and pick Espurr up, turning him and then holding him close like a child would do to their favorite doll.
'How was your meditation Olivia?' Her mentor asked, but of course, he already knew the answer. After all he was a psychic.
"It was great I was reliving the day I arrived here. It was so vivid, and so real. It was like watching a movie, but starring in it at the same time. I guess.... That is the best way I can describe it."
'Great, you are definitely coming along. We have all noticed. And I have good news for you. Today is the day Olivia.' He says with a smile.
Olivia sat up in attention and looked at him inquisitively. "Do you mean what I think? She scrambles to her feet still clutching Espurr. "I can start my training as a Pokémon trainer!?" Her mentor nodded yes in response to her question. 'You here that Espurr? Today is the day we become Pokémon Masters!"

You were always training. You were strengthening your mind. As a Mind Gem Protector the strength of your mind is as important as the strength of your Pokémon. If both are of equal strength you can do wonderful things. Her mentor says as he interrupts Olivia and Espurr's celebration.
Olivia paused and looked down at Espurr and then back to her mentor. I can understand that, but Pokémon trainers when they battle rely on the strength of their Pokémon." She says matter of factly to her mentor.
Her mentor smirked as he folded his arms in front of his chest. 'Those trainers are not Mind Gem Protectors. I would be lying if I said Pokémon strength isn't important in battle. BUT... you will learn the importance of team work, balance, strategy, and the power of your mind. This will make you a great trainer.'
Olivia smiled and nodded her head. "I am ready to learn. I trust what you are saying is the truth. I know Espurr and I will become a fierce duo."

We will work on your synchronization. One of the Mind Gem gifts is to be able to communicate with your Pokémon without speaking. If your minds are one, then in battle you can react quicker, and without having to speak. It can prove to be quite an advantage. So, Espurr, Olivia. Try and focus on each other's minds. I want Espurr to react to your stance Olivia.'
Olivia nodded her head and placed Espurr down.
'Okay, so you two turn so you are back to back. Olivia you will pose. When you do make sure you stand with one foot planted on the ground. Choose right or left, and then raise your arm once again either your right or left. First let's have Espurr match your stance.I want it to be identical so if your arm is in front of your body Espurr you do the same. In order for Espurr to see you Olivia you must both be on the same level, same train of thought. Clear your mind, concentrate and try to focus like how you did when you were meditating. You and Espurr can both "watch this movie" and "star" in it too as you described it before. Whenever you are ready.'
Olivia nodded her head as she looked down to Espurr. "Ready? I know we can do this. Just concentrate on me and I'll concentrate on you." She said to Espurr with a reassuring smile. They both turned in unison now standing back to back. Olivia would have to go first as her mentor instructed. She raised her right foot off of the ground, and put both hands out to the side as she caught her balance. She closed her eyes and lowered both arms to her side. She took a deep breathe and placed her left hand out in front of her. She then slowly pulled her hand in to cover her mouth. She swayed slightly losing her balance for a quick moment before she recovered. She waited and focused on her stance, then cleared her mind. She stood in this position for twenty two minutes before her eyes shot open. She was able to sense that Espurr mimicked her pose. She turned around quickly proud of her Pokémon to see something was slightly off.
'Close you two, but as you see. Espurr saw you, but he saw you in reverse. But for your first try I am impressed Said reassuringly. . It took twenty two minutes for you two to connect. Let's try it again, this time lets aim for perfection. Then we will work on time.' Her mentor said.
"Right, let's do it. Espurr you ready?" Espurr nodded.

She turned away from Espurr and paused for a moment before posing again. She lifted her left leg up, knee bent, and gained her balance. Then she placed her left arm across her chest, and placed her hand on her right shoulder. It was time once again to clear her mind, hush her thoughts, and focus.

She held the position with perfect balance waiting for the feeling to come to her. "!" She sensed Espurr behind her holding the pose and turned to see if he matched her. She turned and looked him over and saw he matched it perfectly. "We did it!" She picked Espurr up, and held him out in front of her doing a twirl before pulling him in, holding him like a doll once more.
'Great job you too. You were able to match each others stance. If you guys can do that consistently then you can start training to move as one. It took forty minutes. The time went up but the important thing is you got it right.'
"Forty minutes?! I guess we have a lot of work to do... This may take a while Espurr."
