Typically when greeting initiates the head of large organizations has little time for meeting new recruits of any kind. In fact where Team Alchemy was concerned it was difficult even finding them. Say what you will about large groups, this large group was surprisingly close knit.
Some of the trainers there were veterans, while others wore casual attire. There was no true distinction of who was an officer and who was not. The truth was Team Alchemy was difficult not only to deal with, but to understand. They had officers, they had a chain of command, but few knew about them or how they operated. Without uniform or true ways to identify one another it couldn't be an orderly system. Yet, somehow it functioned like a well oiled machine. Strictly speaking there was no way to be sure if someone was greater or lesser than you. Which one might suppose was the point. Still, it was at it's very core an odd system.
The creator of this odd system and organization was a man called Oberon. He's been repeated described as different things. Man, woman, different eyes and hair? From town to town it was as if every reliable source described him differently. The truth must have been that the people describing him always lied for him. Only one thing remained constant, the radiance around him. People always made ridiculous comments in Team Alchemy such as 'We know him by his light.'
Predicting what he was doing was equally difficult. Team alchemy was founded under a single goal: To prevent war. But it seemed to elude the masses and even Team Alchemy itself just how that was supposed to happen. It almost sounded more like a cult than an organization. Claiming that they were lead by love and peace. Despite the fact they seemed to use tactics similar to that of absolute villains. They stole, killed and went to such extremes that no sane person would ever say they were motivated by peace.
They said that Alchemy was a team of peace. They were wrong.
After some talking amongst themselves and nervous tension building up they were finally greeted, not by an officer or some cog in the organizations machine. The new recruits were surprised who approached. Some knew him and some did not. Either way he needed no introduction.
"Welcome to our family."He said stepping down some steps from the upper story of the base. His eyes focused as if he were looking far in the distance. There was nothing to see, of course. But he seemed fixated on something far away.
"I am called Oberon. To those who listen, I ask you this."He didn't seem to speak loudly at all it's just the whole room became silent as the grave when he entered.
"How does one obtain peace? How does one begin war? How does one prevent war? What is war? Truly?"Wisely enough no one answered. For the first time he looked around at him at the people below. He started walking into the crowd and as if they expected him, they moved that he could freely mince words.
"War is, simply put, a battle on a large scale. Often beginning with the smallest skirmish or the exchange of blows between the small. War is a battle that grows until it is stopped by peace. One could say that to prevent war, one would need to prevent all fighting. But this is not so. All one need do is keep it from growing on a large scale. To prevent war, you must stop it before it begins. You must stop it before it spreads, you must go against the human condition. How one obtains peace, is making humanity from coming together for the purposes of battle. Team Alchemy can make this reality."He might sound like a madman, but it was almost as if you wanted to believe him. He went on to say,
"To this end. The way to prevent war becomes clear does it not? Humans need to be joined together to a single ideal. A single belief, one that all can revel in. A common enemy and a common love. This is but one way to achieve peace."He sounded like he was deliberately speaking in riddles. But that was his way.
"As part of Team Alchemy, we believe in a single ideal. Peace. It's true that some may have different motivation or means, but it is through this common goal, that we will make the final stride towards uniting the world. Not under a tyrant, but an idea. There are those of you who already share this ideal with me. There are those who wish to learn this ideal. And there are those... "Oberon pointed a single person out of the group,
"Who have no interest in our ideals." The single person he pointed to looked around in confusion. As if to question what he was talking about. But two of the uniformed members of Team Alchemy were quickly upon him. Soon after Oberon motioned to another person, a woman. She was brought before him. As was the other person he pointed out. Both were flung before Oberon as if they were common criminals.
"Beautiful children. Tell me your names." Oberon said kneeling. They tried to stand but there were members of Team Alchemy keeping them from moving from the floor. They were being held down against their will.
"Let us go! We didn't do anything.""Did you know? That it is possible to know someone at a glance? By their aura? When someone believes in an ideal, it shows in their aura. You two have no ideals to speak. I can tell at a glance, any true master could.""What are you talking about?"Oberon didn't explain himself. He just stood. Then looked to his subordinates,
"Find out who they report to. Process them."The two were dragged away. Both saying something like he'd made some sort of mistake. But Oberon ignored them he kept talking to the new recruits,
"You needn't fear. There are often those who profit in treachery. Perhaps in time they'll learn our ideals. I pray they will one day. But for now I wish to know that each and every one of you is a valued member of our family. To that end, I give you no true objective. No orders nor commandments. Nay all I can give you is direction. That is is all.""Where would you have us go, sir?"Oberon paused a moment and looked in the distance again with a light smile.
"For now. Go at whatever pace you like... to Mt. Moon."He made this suggestion and many of the veterans left without another word. Some of the newer members followed and some stayed behind. Some were curious. But Oberon did seem to gain interest in one particular person.
Marvie.
"Trainer. Come. I wish to know more about the color of your aura. May I ask what brought you here trainer? Why is it your aura stands out to me, I wish to know."This was the most powerful man in Team Alchemy. An idealist and at least in part a lunatic. But for now, his methods and madness were working. They were amassing a sizable and efficient force. And it seemed to have little to do with his leadership, more to do with his 'ideal' as he called it. Peace. In truth every member of Team Alchemy valued peace. And every member was willing to do great or terrible works to do it. Perhaps it was this fact that made Team Alchemy feared across some portions of the region.
Fear or love that's all Alchemy was.
"Trainer, with your aura. I wish to know just what you think of this place and what thought have you given to my words. Fear not, I know you are no spy. You lack the aura of a traitor. But yet there is an element of mystery I wish to indulge myself in. Well trainer, tell me. Why are you here? And just what does my new recruit think of Alchemy?"_____-----_____----______
