how the breeding formula works...
Roll a single 4-sided die per breeding pair to determine the initial number of puppies.1 = 1 pup
2 = 2 pups
3 = 3 pups
4 = 4 pups
In the same post, mention any of the following factors that are relevant to the breeding...Official Lifemate Pair: +1
Official Pack for Mom? +1
Alpha + Alpha: +3
Beta + Beta: +2
Alpha + Beta: +2
Alpha/Beta + Gamma: +1
Gamma + Gamma: 0
Alpha Mom + Lone/Omega Dad = +1
Beta/Gamma Mom + Lone/Omega Dad: 0
Any Rank Dad + Lone/Omega Mom: -1
Lone/Omega + Lone/Omega: -2
Good Prey/Weather = +1
Poor Prey/Weather = -1
Wolves can never have fewer than 1 pup. If 1 pup is rolled, half of the Breeding fee will be refunded as a result.
After the mother's third breeding, the numbers on the initial four-sided die decrease by 1 for every subsequent breeding (extending into the negatives).
Generally speaking, pups have a 50/50 chance of being male or female. Colorists will want to determine the amount of pups first, the gender second (roll a d4 per pup, 1-2 = male, 3-4 = female), and any heritable traits last.heritable traits
Always roll a d20, just to keep things consistent.Either Parent Hyper-Dominant :: (don't need to roll)
Single Parent Dominant :: 1-10 = yes, 11-20 = no
Both Parents Dominant :: (don't need to roll)
Single Parent Recessive :: 1-5 = yes, 6-20 = no
Both Parents Recessive :: 1-10 = yes, 11-20 = no
Single Parent Hyper-Recessive :: 1 = yes, 2-20 = no
Both Parents Hyper-Recessive :: 1-2 = yes, 3-20 = no
You will roll one d20 per pup, per heritable trait. Always make sure to mention how the dice are organized, in the event of a lot of heritable traits and/or multiple pups. For example, "The first die applies to the tail, the second die applies to the eyes; dice 1 and 2 are for pup 1, dice 2 and 3 are for pup 2, etc."Twins :: Dominant
Curly Tail :: Dominant
Heterochromic Eyes :: Recessive
Two-Tone Eyes :: Recessive
Starburst Eyes :: Hyper-Recessive
