We all have those favorite characters, those ones whose muse never seems to run out, those characters we can pick up and play without really thinking about it. Maybe I'm just crazy (probably am) but there are some characters I know so well that they almost feel like little alternate personalities floating around in my mind.
They are my favorites, my babies, my 'go-to' characters when I want to RP but the muse is being fickle. But how did they get to that point? Perhaps if I understand what makes them my favorite I can pass along that ease of play onto characters whose muse sometimes seem to run dry. Is it their story? Are they based on an older OC? Perhaps its their funny quirks or a more fleshed out personality...whatever it is I'm sure the secret to endless muse is in there somewhere! I have a favorite character!Player Name : Huroggmeten Pref List : Stallion, Mare Favorite Character : EvelynRP WIth Character : Home. May or may not be somewhat melodramatic but I love her for that anyway. (( EDIT: I was tired and posted the first RP I found from my phone this morning with her, but this one is hands-down all-time fav: An Unspoken Sorrow. heart )) Why is this one your favorite?: My first-ever custom and my first Soquili to max her stats (I was enjoying writing her so much that I didn't even notice she'd maxed until much later). Like all my characters, she's got a little bit of me on her (or a lot) and i've dragged her through a lot before finally letting her figure out enough of herself out to be happy. heart I feel so guilty for picking a favorite! But she's been my strongest for the longest, so I think she deserves the spot even if I do look forward to playing others too. heart

Player Name : Revel1984 Pref List : Stallion, Mare Favorite Character : ZoucaRP WIth Character : Here Why is this one your favorite?: She's my first ever Purewalker and i really enjoy playing a darker personality while at the same time playing her as very cat-like. Almost all of my Soquili are rather nice, or nice with a twist,having someone inherintley evil is a lot of fun, especially when it comes down to fighting and choosing ideas and injuries to inflict. Originally i'd thought it would be hard to rp within the guidelines for Skinwalkers but i find it immensely enjoyable, even if i'm struggling a little bit. It also helps that she's vicious, when i'm in a bad mood i can release that with her a bit, making her more bad tempered or making her make a kill or something. (hard to pick a favourite but i do enjoy rp'ing her a lot)

And every single one of them is a favorite. However, Awendela is the character that I most admire. I may not be a healer, but we share many of the same thoughts and beliefs. She may be hard to play sometimes, but that is because she comes from a place of such purity within me that I am not always able to access it... so it's hard to write such a beloved character. She is my favorite because she is who I try to live up to in life. heart (Even if she doesn't have everything figured out just yet. wink )

Player Name : Mahogany Sunset Pref List : Mare, Stallion Favorite Character : Margaery Tyrell RP WIth Character : The River & The Rose Why is this one your favorite?: I feel like I really know who she is as a character. I know exactly how she will feel up to certain point in her timeline, and because I know how she should react to a given situation up until that point (which is currently a long ways in her future), I feel like her muse will never die. 8D That feeling of knowing who she is is really what makes her my favorite. However, she is a pretty serious character - Herod is the one who is the most fun to play, and he is pretty relaxing to write when I need a break.

I have a favorite character!Player Name : Summer Raven Pref List : Mare, Stallion Favorite Character : AbattieRP WIth Character : Messing With the MentalWhy is this one your favorite?: Ack, man I could go on forever. Simply put, her plot and her character and everything she brings to me and to my creative muse is just....a godsend. She's perfect. She's so beautifully flawed and helpless that it comes off rather charming. She's in love, she's clueless, she's...everything that I wish I could be if I was brave enough to just be myself. Attie once functioned as a way for my teenage self to lash out and say what I really wanted to say without it being me who said it. She was my go-to girl. I loved her - I still love her. Oh dear, Attie you beautiful, sweet girl. The plot that her and her mate, Shadow, created is one of my longest and most favorite plot ever - it's full of sadness and destruction, and yet it's....happy. It's about growth, and understanding and I just....I dunno. Abattie's character is the 2nd easiest character to come to me (Bliss being the first), but she's my muse. Her soul lives within me and I want so badly for her soul to live on forever. She's also probably not the character that has gone through the MOST growth, I think that slot belongs to Bairn, but she's the one that sticks out to me when I think of what it means to go from one end of the spectrum to the other. I mean, she found love! Abattie, the mare I thought would be perpetually single because of her flaws, allowed herself to feel and it was just...beautiful. Okay now I'm done.

Ever. She's a part of me in ways that none of my other OCs will ever be, no matter how much I love them. At some level, she's all the best parts of me, expressed in a character that is filled with far more love then I will ever be able to express in real life. Being able to play her, most of the time, grounds me and makes me feel happy again. Her muse is persistent, strong, and wonderful.

But more than that, he has a joy innocence and naiveity that I sometimes wish I had. He has such an easy character to slip into and always manages to bring a bit of a smile or slight happiness to me no matter how my life seems to be going. He is just fun.

Player Name : Cajmera Pref List : Mare, Stallion Favorite Character : GuilianRP WIth Character : Beauty in EverythingWhy is this one your favorite?: This was tough, because I have a few Soquili whose characters have really developed over time and who I love. Guilian isn't the oldest of my Soquili, or the one who I personally identify with the most, but at the end of the day I always come back to Guilian. He started out as a completely two dimensional character, a vain, self-absorbed playboy, but with time he has grown and matured into something much deeper. I love his character, his family, his unique moral code, and his...well, his effervescence. He keeps surprising me, and I look forward to seeing how he continues to grow.

Maeryn was my first custom, and my first fully owned Soquili. She was a gift from my dear friend Meeki, who included her in a bribe along with customs for several other Soquili newbies and regulars alike. That was a little over eight years ago, and from the very start, Maeryn grabbed hold of my heart. I knew when I got Maeryn that she had been hurt in the past, that others had attempted to snuff out the strong will and spirit that are among her prime characteristics. Their efforts, however, had only led her to be a brave, fierce, and intelligent mare whose wisdom seemed to grow with time. Maeryn is also a kind mare, where kindness serves her, and where she deems it appropriate. I have followed Maeryn (unknowingly) along the path to elderhood and beyond. I have watched her children be born, grow to adulthood, and establish relationships of their own. She is a grandmother, and the alpha of her herd. I watched her heart break when her mate was killed, and was with her when she took an orphaned Kalona foal under her wing. She has been as much a part of my life as I have been hers, and she will always be dear to me.
