Bio: The Valkyrie Twins Ysara and Shiki were born to a clan of demons, their mother was a Dreamwalker and a member of the clan before she was attacked and raped by an Incubus who happened to desire her no matter how often she refused him. Their mother died while they were young, refusing to even look at them and she would leave them for long periods of time. Until they realized they could only rely upon each other, since even the rest of the clan outcasted them and blamed them for the death of their mother. They left the clan when they were still young and had been staying in the ruins of the Academy for awhile before it suddenly opened up, causing Ysara to become excited and eager to see what the new students were like. Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body). Chronic means that the signs and symptoms tend to last longer than six weeks and often for many years.
In lupus, something goes wrong with your immune system, which is the part of the body that fights off viruses, bacteria, and germs ("foreign invaders," like the flu). Normally our immune system produces proteins called antibodies that protect the body from these invaders. Autoimmune means your immune system cannot tell the difference between these foreign invaders and your body’s healthy tissues ("auto" means "self" ) and creates autoantibodies that attack and destroy healthy tissue. These autoantibodies cause inflammation, pain, and damage in various parts of the body.
Lupus is also a disease of flares (the symptoms worsen and you feel ill) and remissions (the symptoms improve and you feel better).
The most common way that lupus affects the heart is through inflammation of the pericardium, the sac that surrounds your heart. The symptoms of pericarditis that you may experience are sharp pain in your chest and occasionally, shortness of breath. Pericarditis usually does not damage your heart’s ability to function because it does not directly involve the heart tissue. However, inflammation that is chronic (long-lasting) can scar the heart tissue, which can interfere with the heart’s ability to pump blood.
Inflammation in a small blood vessel like a capillary may cause that vessel to break and bleed inside the tissue. Inflammation that occurs in the skin may appear as a small red or purple dot. Inflammation that takes place in other tissues can be extremely serious, especially within the brain. Vasculitis is caused by inflammation of the blood vessel walls. The symptoms of lupus-induced vasculitis that you may experience can vary depending upon which tissues are involved, but may include:
Abilities: Super strength and super speed in short bursts, elevated senses, and increased stamina. Able to become invisible for short periods of time when feeling threatened. When in hound form, volume of the growls are reversed. The further away, the louder the growls. The closer, the softer they are. Also in hound form, when invisibility is activated, footprints will be left in stone, but not soft ground of any kind. When upset, sparks and flames have been known to shoot out of Allie's hands and/or paws. Hellhounds have the fires of hell in their veins, and that is where they get their energy. Bio: Legion Driscoll was the center of a very important "medical" experiment. He was adopted by a husband and wife team, and used as a base for splicing animal DNA into that of a human's. Eventually, they began to expand, and found ways to include as many types of DNA as possible. Besides this, he lived a rather normal childhood, or so he believes. He was home schooled until the age of eighteen, and completed not only high school, but two bachelor's degrees in DNA Analysis, and Biology, so that he could be self-sufficient. Although they never denied that they were his "parents", he learned over the years not to expect any kind of special treatment. The books he read taught him that, although they had adopted him, they were really only caregivers, and wardens. The books were where they had made the mistake. He now knew that it was not normal to grow up in a facility. It was not normal to be tested on, and forced to fight, and be locked in a small cell every night. He told the two that he wanted to be a part of the outside world, but they refused. He tried to convince them for years, but to no avail. He was beginning to look for a way to escape the laboratory, when the unthinkable happened. In trying to recreate Legion, his parents were ripped to shreds by the patient, who could not adjust to the new DNA. He realized his chance, and hid all evidence of his parents testing on him, so that he could gain control of the empire they had created for themselves, as their legally adopted son. Now at the top, he enrolled himself at the recently reopened Blackmore, to continue his education. His goal is to open a new facility to reverse DNA testing, and help those who can not cope with the stress of being an experiment. Although he does not have this problem, and is adjusted well, he had spent time with other patients who were not. He does have a few tell tale signs of the testing. When upset, he growls, and his movements become quick and sharp. When he is content, he is known to purr. He has a twitch, that usually comes about when he is extremely concentrated on something. Although his eyes are generally a golden-yellow color, they are known to change during times of stress. Leo learned of his true purpose after his parent's death, while reading through his own files. They had selected him out of a list of children, based on his parentage. He wasn't quite sure how they had gotten the information, nor did he care. The humans that had put him up for adoption in the first place were not at fault. It said in the paperwork that the mother was fifteen, and had been raped. The father had been put in prison for several rapes and murders. This had been the deciding factor, it seemed. Though, for what reason, he never could understand. He was the product of his parent's dream to create a super-species, impervious to disease, and needing very little nutrition to survive. They had been in the process of compiling their success to send out to unknown sources, claiming to have created the recipe for the ultimate soldier. The lion was strong, and proud. Protective over it's territory and family. The wolf was as well, but was also extremely smart. The hawk was a strategist, and all three were fast and deadly. His mother had the idea of throwing in the deer so that he could be controlled better by an outside force. If they had only included predators, he might decide he didn't want to listen to the orders given to him, and would be extremely hard to stop. The demonic and angelic DNA was mainly for their healing abilities, but also their ability to go long periods of time without any form of nutrients. Both also had other small traits, such as strength and speed, that he would need while in human form. The vampiric DNA backed up the strength and speed, but also made it so that if need be, he could skip food and drink, and simply feed off of blood. The incubi DNA allowed him to also sustain himself on sex, but also gave him charm. Personality. This would supposedly help him to infiltrate enemy lines. He knew, from the thousands of books he had read, that he should be sickened by this. But he wasn't. He didn't have the capacity to be sickened. But he did know how painful his days were, even without the experiments. Even though he was used to it, and it no longer fazed him, he knew how tiring it was to have to listen to his instincts as to what they wanted, and figure out which was more important. He saw the pain of the other experiments as well, and this is what fueled his dream. War was stupid anyways, and if humans wanted to constantly be at war with each other so badly, then they should simply do so, instead of messing with other's lives to get better at it.
Abilities: Leo can transform into each of the animals in his DNA separately, or a combination of each together. These animals include the African lion, the arctic wolf, the broad-winged hawk, and the white tailed deer. He also has traits from vampiric DNA, basic demon DNA, basic angel DNA, and incubi DNA. All of this makes his senses, reaction times, and instincts top notch. His weakness lies in the facts that, although he is adapted to having so many different forms of DNA, the species themselves naturally fight each other, or have different interests. This often leaves him confused, or hesitant, especially in situations that involve fighting or using his instincts in any way. His senses tend to be so sensitive, in fact, that loud noises, bright or flashing lights, or strong smells have been known to incapacitate him. She's very motherly and open-minded, but that can make her kind of over-protective of her friends. She doesn't care much about her own feelings, which masks her issues with depression and low self-esteem. She's very hard to anger, and she's more likely to try and stop a fight than start one. Bio: A Dream Shepherd is an angelic spirit known to protect dreamers from having nightmares while they sleep, much like that of guardian angels. They often don't have dreams of their own, instead entering a dream-like state where they keep watch. Lyra was originally an old forest spirit from Greece. She was charged with watching over those lost in her woods, guiding them safely home for thousands of years. However, she got bored of that life, and decided to become mortal so that she could explore the world. She took on her mortal form, but she still kept her memories of the spirit world. Even though she wasn't exactly human, she dreamed of exploring the world and seeing what was out there, so she traveled around Europe and started learning about modern culture. After a couple years of travel and learning about different cultures and lifestyles, she found out about the reopening of a school that had been closed for years, and became interested in it's closeness to the spirit realm. That's when she decided she would follow her dreams of becoming a music teacher for children, because music held such a close place to her heart. Special Items: Shepherd's Crook, Ukelele Abilities: Lyra's main ability is being able to use her magic to defend those inside and out of the dream world, though she's much stronger in it. Her magic is usually a bright violet/purple color, and is fairly strong. She mostly summons circular shields, which often look like dreamcatchers, but her magic also includes a few other tricks like binding ribbons and misty clouds. Outside of her defensive magic, she has her vocal gifts like lullabies, which tend to make others sleepy/drowsy. While she does have an angelic/spirit form, she doesn't see a point in using it except for emergencies. The problem with her fighting off nightmares is that they tend to leave behind visible marks on her, like bruises and burns. They tend to go away after a couple days, but they do still hurt, and depending on the severity of the nightmares, she could even wake up with broken bones.
