Life ... a force what it may be cruel, yet it gives us eternal lessons ... sometimes it confuses us ... does it is cynical? This is a story of an unique youkai, who has the most human heart that some of us, may not understand.

Everything starts with a week before the creation of the Hakurei Border, when humans and youkai were forced to coexist and survive, in the depths of a forest, exists a small, yet lively village, known as "The Village of Illusions", home of the once thriving race of the dream eaters. In middle of this tiny fairy tale town lives a certain dream eater, who rarely steps outside of it's house, which the reason is about to unfold. The young youkai, like most of it's days was resting on a kotatsu, her father, who was the strongest of the race is the chief of the village. He had the physical factions of a young and strong man yet the knowledge of countless sages.

The chief glanced at his daughter, who was about to fall asleep, then he walks to her and pats her head saying - "You should go out and have some fresh air, don't you?". The little girl did not raise her head, not even a single tilt - "I wish i could do so ... without being bullied by the other kids" - she mumbled after taking a deep sigh, with her wolf ears facing downwards.

"Hikari ..." - Her father called her name, then he gently raises the girl's head with his hand - "You are strong, it's just that you still don't notice it, you cannot know how strong you are by just sitting here and sulking" - he says, Hikari growled, she had listened to those words countless times, but when she faces life, the same life slaps her, so she thought that it was no use. "Dad, i am not strong! i can't even stand against the reality of not having mother around and everyone reminding me of it with bad jokes!! there isn't a solution to it!!" - Hikari shouted at her father after geting out of the kotatsu. Her father, as soon as he heard the word Mother looked at the floor, posibly because of the loss of his wife when she gave birth to ther daughter ...yet he was determined to get in a colclusion of Hikari's problem.

The young youkai sighed deeply and looked through the window, watching how the villagers were doing their normal lives, Hikari looked at her father once more - "Maybe today won't be so cruel ... but i won't promise anything" - She said, her father half-smiled at her, Hikari got out of her home and went to the village's graveyard to visit her mother's tombstone, meanwhile, the younger dream eaters watched the blue-haired youkai girl advancing and began to get near her - "Poor wolf girl ... she wants her human mommy back" - Said a kid, with some tengu factions - "Such an eyesore with just staring at her" - said another one with yamabiko features, Hikari tried to ignore them and placed a little orchid at her mother's grave. "We're talking to you!" -said both kids. "I'm not interested" - Said the little youkai girl as she sat aside her mother's gravestone.

The Dream eater kids were whispering for themselves for a time, then one of them pushed Hikari aside as the other one stomped at the poor flower, turning it black, Hikari got up and saw the kids leave, she was so enraged that she unconciously used her powers, hurting the children that bullied her constantly, the kids ran away from her, scared that she hurts them once more. She sat down again, crying near the gravestone.

Nobody wanted to understand the young dream eater by the reason that she was given birth by an outsider human woman, Hikari felt that there was no solution to her issue ... everybody were busy with their normal lives ... until one night ... which would take the course of time to another route ... forever.

The sun began to set as the stars were showing one by one, the Village of Illusions was about to celebrate the day that they would settle in the land of Gensokyo once and for all. The dreameater children were playing around the central part of town while the older youkai invited the other races to the festival. Hikari was watching everything through the window in her room, she was sleepy, yet she tried to stay awake ... but she fell into a sweet slumber ... but something was wrong after a few hours, everything was so silent that the young dream eater girl couldn't sleep, so she woke up and checked out through the window ... she couldn't believed what her eyes witnessed.

An army of humans were destroying the village, houses and shops were on fire as some Youkai were being killed en masse, the younger ones were crying as the humans killed them with equal brutality. Hikari hid under the window, scared of what she saw, not only she was surrounded by the enemy, but her father was nowhere to be found, so she quietly descended to the first floor, she stopped and hid near the staircase and saw a few human swordsmen patrolling the house, she knew of a secret exit behind the house that leads to Gensokyo ... it was a desicion of survival, she crawled with silent steps to the secret exit and succesfully got out of the infested building, but this catastrophe was far from done.

The little girl was running as fast as she could to the exit, hidden between bushes, but a human swordsman noticed her steps and grabbed her arm as he rose his sword. Hikari closed her eyes, so she wouldn't see how she would be utterly assasined, but then, she heard a shout. It was Hikari's father, who rammed at the swordsman and killed him bare-handed without any problem, his daughter hugged him so hard, she thought that her father would never appear. Hikari's father took her to the other side of the bushes blocking the exit - "Go, Hikari! You must run away!" -He said, his daughter, before departing she told him these words - "Then promise me that you'll survive! I'll hate you for dying here!" - Hikari fled away from the burning village.

The young Dream eater ran as fast as she could, luckily she escaped unscathed from perril, as the Hakurei Border finally surrounded a great piece of land, but the young one was still scared, she ran into a forest, later named "The Forest of Magic", Hikari sled from a mossy tree trunk, falling into the forest floor, she was so tired that was unable to stand up, crawling to the nearest home that she saw and finally, fainting.
