Okay so, I would like to know just how you get yourself motivated to keep/start writing a story?
I don't mean like a temporary break for coffee and some gaming before returning to the page. I mean literally becoming completely blocked/dead in the head and not being able to find any ounce to write down a single letter for any story or oneshot or anything what so ever. (Like, if you've got ideas in your head, but you can't seem to just be inspired by anything to write it down; deadly writer's block if you will). Do you go hiatus mode until you get some shred of will power, or something else?

God. This is my problem with everything I write. I am so desperately trying to not succumb to this awful block with my Frozen fanfic.
Unfortunately, if I ever lose the story at all, thats pretty much it. ^^; I don't take good notes (Which was my problem in school too xD) So when its gone, its gone.
Usually the only way I come back is when I get a new idea to push the story forward. It isn't very often this happens.

I can actually keep ideas in my head and write them down no problem, but it's like, "how in the world do I put it in the story," that's my problem. I have trouble connecting point A to point B, so I sort of just shut down and just lose the will to write altogether. It's frustrating as nobody's business to be honest.

Ugh! My biggest problem is that I actually know how I want to end it, like, legitimately detailed. But I haven't the slightest idea how to get there. I'm trying to practice only knowing one little detail about the end and going from there. Like, someone returns or someone dies. And thats it. But its still sooo hard!

I have this tendency to get into a story because I want to show a specific thing, but then it's like, "oh wait...all the things I have to put in to even show that part...riiiiight," and then I sit there feeling defeated and like a total dumbell. :/

Amarathiine Oh I am in that stage at the moment, its like I know I want to complete the next chapter but it all feels so wrong that I get annoyed at myself. Ugh, I know the feeling. I scrapped a third of my in-progress chapter and I'm set to publish it on Saturday. I motivate myself by setting a routine with a few peculiarities. I believe I mentioned this in a previous guild I was in and I just came across as some loony, but it honestly works for me. 1. Have a familiar scent going while you write. Any particular candle, wax-melting thingy, incense, or a spray of perfume/cologne that's used just for when you write. The familiar scent will bring you back to when you were writing and writing will come easier for you. 2. Write in a designated area. Just like when you study for a test and it's best to study in the room where your test will be held, write in the area that you will choose to write in from here on out. Again, it's a familiar aspect that will bring to mind the act of writing which will help you to overcome any roadblocks. 3. Just write nonsense. Word vomit usually helps unclog your brain so that you can finally write something coherent.

Whenever I'm encountering a writers block, I still try to keep writing in general. If not on my project then on other things. It helps keep your "edge" from going dull. I've also founds it helps TREMENDOUSLY for me if I give myself permission to write poorly. Like it doesn't have to be perfect the first time. It's a good way to keep things moving. It may not bring back inspiration per say, but it will keep your skills from stagnating.

Once I decide a story goes on hiatus it never returns to life. I like to imagine fragments of random scenes in my head thinking, 'This would neat if so and so happened.', but I'm too lazy to jot them down even though I spend most of my time on a computer. sweatdrop

That's true, usually when I can't seem to get a story going, I pull out the old pen and paper and just write down random oneshots, they could be about OTP's or random people. I don't like leaving a story for too long, because then it's rather trying to get back to it.

I used to write stories with an old friend, but we would always drop them rather quickly if we didn't talk or write about it in a couple days. It just drained the life of the story. Sometimes though, there are stories I truly wish to finish, so I keep them in documents and don't post them until I have like ten or so chapters written.

Amarathiine oh I'll try that! , Its a really good idea and if it helps I will get back too you and good luck with that update c: Thanks! I was able to publish it on time, surprisingly enough. I just wasn't too happy with the end result and will probably fine-tune it later. Hopefully my weird tips help you out some!

Good to hear, I myself was going to start writing but something happened to my laptop last week so I am in a bit of a grumpy depressing mood for not being able to start yet.

Aw, I'm sorry. emotion_hug That really sucks! But maybe you can just write your ideas down until you get your laptop up and running and then transfer your work over?
