Bureaucracy had gone over all the applicants to her Little Lady Liberty Internship Program one by one. After much debate and hemming and hawing, one special little filly was going to get the once in a lifetime opportunity to follow her around and learn about how government worked! It was nothing short of exciting!

The LLLIP was a wonderful idea, and she was glad she came up with it. Bureaucracy would put the lucky foal to work as an office gofer, and in exchange, she'd write a letter of recommendation that would look impressive on a resume. It was a perfect example of barter and exchange of goods and services. See! There was so much fun stuff about government!

This had absolutely nothing with her being slightly short staffed and over budget, and needing a few extra hooves to help out around the office. Nope. This was totally an altruistic program.

The mare stepped out of her office door, and was surprised to see her new intern was sitting there already! "My! Aren't you a little go-getter!" She smiled and extended a hoof. "You must be Skirmish Flamenco. I'm so glad you arrived early." Of course, because then that were a few precious more minutes of work Bureaucracy could get out of the foal, but she didn't mention that.

"Let's start by giving you a tour." Bureaucracy showed Skirmish all the important places, like where all the paperwork was kept, and the list of unanswered letters. She also introduced her to other politician ponies and their staff. Finally, they got back to her office.

"You'll be sitting over here," she said, pointing at a desk. "It's yours for the duration of the internship. You can decorate it, but please keep it on a professional level."
