Magic is a power in Kruun, and Siltreon, and one of the most powerful at that. In this thread the various posts will detail how magic works.

Origins While no one is entirely sure how magic, properly called the Outer Powers, came into existence, it is a well known fact it is formed through objects known as Focal Points. Focal Points are objects of magical density, that determine the 'mana' of a planet. Most planets have around 2-3, though Earth has zero, and Noa has 27. In cases like Earth (0 FPs) the natural residents have no innate magical abilities. Magic in cases like this is obtained from magical artifacts, or gifted through the soul. Keep in mind that this does not apply to the Inner Powers. In cases like Noa (27 FPs) creatures entirely composed of magical energy can naturally form.

Focal Points As stated before, Focal Points are the source of most magical energies in the universe of Mel-Anie. Too few Focal Points results in little to no magic on a planet. Too many usually results in cotastrophe.
Focal Points themselves are actually crystalline structures. These crystals (first named by the very uncreative Noans as Noan Crystals) are exclusively found inside of Focal Points. However, Focal Points are rarely small, and have actually been recorded to occasionally be the size of an ocean. The only race to succesfully harness the Crystals' power are the Noans. And from the depths of their Crystal mines rose the great Crystalline Labrynth, and the Noan Cores. Still, a small slip up caused approximately 33% of the planet to cave in on itself. This resulted in Noa's unique cresent shape.
When near the Focal Points space warps slightly, from the high magical density. This warping often results in non-magically attuned creatures to feel uneasy in these areas. These areas are easily identified by the heavily-colored (commonly blue or pink) shadow covering the entire place. This leads to the common misconception a heavt fog runs over the area. In addition small specs often dot the air.
Only few artificial Focal Points have ever been created. Among them the main notable ones are Raktearan, Krynelia, and the Crimson Tower.

Inner Powers The Inner Powers are abilities similar to magic, or the Outer Powers. The only real difference is source. Focal Points = Outer. Most anything else is considered either Inner Power or technology.
Examples; Vampiric blood-bending, Spirit Fire
It is worth noting that Divinity is considered magic, due to the main source being the weapons, which were made. Meanwhile the Dragon Swords are considered Inner Power due to their origins with Dai Ra.
It is also worth noting Inner Power is generally stronger, yet more scarce. Opposite for magic.

Schools (old) There are various 'schools' of magic. (old classification) Pyromancy: Any magic dealing with manipulation of non-lifeforce energies. This includes things like light/dark, fire, lightening, etc.
Geomancy: Any magic dealing with manipulation of non-energy natural forces. Things like water, earth, air, etc.
Chronomancy: Any magic dealing with the manipulation of time and space. Mostly this is simply time magic, though things like bending gravity would fit here as well.
Biomancy: Any magic dealing with the manipulation over physical lifeforce. Things like shape-shifting, and bio-morphing.
Animancy: The power over the soul. Very rare type of magic. Deals with manipulation of natural, undead, and artificial souls.
It is very difficult to draw from two separate schools at once.

Schools (new) As time went on the schools of magic were separated. This list may update.
Pyromancy Former school: Pyromancy Description: Using and manipulating the power of fire. It can be used for many things, though most commonly used to simply shoot fire at foes.
Illumancy Former school: Pyromancy Description: Using and manipulating light. Despite common belief this is an extremely potent power. In addition to the tactical advantage of messing with foes' vision, it is also a simple matter to solidify certain quantaties of light. Larger quantities would be harder, of course. Most light magic is strongly connected to the Intriin.
Shadowmancy Former school: Pyromancy Description: Similar to illumancy but with a hortibly uncreative name. Is mostly associated with the Mena/Mimics.
Electromancy Former school: Pyromancy Description: Using and manipulating lightning. Is a bit harder to control than the other energy magics. When used properly it can easily turn the tide of a battle.
Aquamancy Former school: Geomancy Description: Using and manipulating water. A fairly simple school, not too far off from waterbending, from Avatar.
Aeromancy Former school: Geomancy Description: Using, and manipulating air. Due to air being invisible, it is actually a fairly difficult ability to use. However, also a difficult one to predict. You must have faith in your attacks, for you won't be able to see how the spell turned out.
Geomancy Former school: Geomancy Description: Geomancy is often considered a bridge between old Pyro- and old Geo- mancies. In addition to the bending of rock, and stone, it can also be used for the control of molten materials, and indeed create them. Due to pyromancies general control over heat, some actually consider this to be in the the old school of Pyromancy. Officially, however, it still belongs in the old school it was named for; Geomancy.
Chronomancy: Former school: Chronomancy Description: Manipulation of time. Primarily employed by the Forbidden Order. This magic essentially allows one to, instead of moving one way through the 4th dimension, travel through it as though they were 4D. Albeit, their movement is still limited. Their travel seems instantaneous, due to being 3D beings. And they cannot only transport one part of their being, but all of themselves. Additionally, traveling to a point in time where they were previously (w/out time travel) is difficult. (i.e. you could not teleport to the day before you got your powers, and say hi) This form of Chronomancy actually also generally warps space, as well, allowing you to also change your location.
(spacial magics are underdeveloped, due to lack of use)
Biomancy Former school: Biomancy Description: Biomancy was not actually divided up into several schools. It still revolves around the manipulation of the physical body of a living being.
Animancy Former school: Animancy Description: The manipulation of natural souls. This is a very rare magic, possessed by only a select few. And rightly so, for most beings possess a natural soul, and this magic, when mastered, can give complete control over it. (save for of course, against other animancers) This can let them switch peoples souls, instantly kill someone, or raise their power. It also has the more common usage of using your own soul to create solid objects. Usage of this magic, however, can easily result in your death, as all of your abilities are drawn directly from your own soul. This also has the side effect of making those who use it sickly, and seemingly sitting on the brink of death.
Necromancy Former school: Animancy Description: Manipulation of dead or undead souls. Usually, control of dead souls is difficult, due to the short moment they're dead, before disappearing. However, if something prevents it from disappearing, it's quite easy to place it in another (or the same) body, and raise them from the dead. Undead souls (natural souls twisted by the necromancer, and death) are fiercely loyal to their creators. For they have no other purpose, in this world of living.
Artificial Animancy Former school: Animancy Description: Manipulation of artificial souls. Usually, an artificial soul is created with a natural soul. An example is the soul of Lucien the Dragon Sword; his soul twisted from his human self, to be little more than a bloodthirsty husk. Artificial Animancy, even rarer than Necro- and Ani- mancies, allows control, and creation, of any souls tampered with, to the point that they no longer resemble their natural counterpart. This is not to be confused with undeath, which kills the person in the process. Souls are often twisted, to give power. And A. Animancy lets you harness that power.

Connection to the Soul It is well known that a persons magics, and a person's soul, are linked. (meanwhile Inner Power is more rooted in the body) One can only learn magic within the boundry of their soul's limit. This limit is often the reason for problems when dealing with magical artifacts. Exceeding the limit often results in insanity, or in worse cases, death. When magic begins to overflow the soul, and thus leak into the body, it encounters the Inner Powers of one's being. This can lead to both the ravaging of the mind and body.
Magic's connection to the soul leads most to the conclusion that the soul is connected to Focal Points. Animancers often study beings from low and high FP planets, but so far no connection has been found. It has been theorized that FPs simply invade the soul, and tamper with it. Others say that the soul reaches out to the FPs for guidance. Either way, souls seem to exist independantly from FPs.
A transferring of the soul will, likewise, transfer all magic, and memories. However a soul transfer is generally only possible with animancy, an extremely rare magic. A dual-soul can also cause several problems as well.
It should be noted a dual soul is always considered to give Outer Power. While the Dragon Swords are considered Inner Power due to the use of Dai Ra's body a person with Dai Ra's soul would be considered to inherit her magical abilities.

Unofficial magic These are magics that haven't been officially named, or inducted into the Forbidden Order's schools of magic. (the new schools) Where they fit in the old schools isn't known, but it wouldn't be too illogical to imagine they were considered too blasphemous to be "true magic".
Chaos magic Former school: N/A (would've probably been Chronomancy) Description: The alteration of reality. Albeit, in a very uncontrolled manner. In truth, this is a theoretical magic. It has never been used outside of an artificial world. (Alexria, and the Black Scythes, to name a few) Yet, if even in a controlled world it could cause such chaos.. Then what havoc would it cause in reality?
"Pure" magics Former school: N/A (technically Pyromancy) Description: This is the general term for wielding what appears to be pure energy from the Focal Points. The manipulation of energy would put it in the school of Pyromancy. Often, this 'school' is used by Noans, the only race to truly master the harnessing of Focal Points. However, they generally need a Noan Crystal to perform any such magic. This magic primarily involves manipulating the Crystal's energy, to warp nearby matter into energy, or "pure" magic. True mastery of this skill usually requires a full Focal Point.

Forbidden Order Due to its mostly irrelevance, I will not go into detail. However, they are among Kruun's political super powers. They exert control over Kruun with their ban on various magics. (including the entire old schools of biomancy, animancy, and chronomancy)
