Can't Stop the Signal
A Serenity/Firefly Roleplay Welcome to Serenity. Location: corner of no and where, space. It is here, at the heart of the Firefly class transport ship that we find our crew. Each day they face trials and tribulations whilst going through the motions of everyday life as raiders. Aside from the external troubles, trouble within the crew also ensues. Kaylee stood in front of River and looked at her uneasily. She smiled politely but inside wondered what she was going on about.
"Um...River? Are you okay?" She asked and kept her polite face on, hoping that River wouldn't notice her uneasy-ness.
She sighed and pushed a piece of her hair behind her ear, getting oil in it. Not that she cared, there was no-one she wanted to look presentable for...Well, maybe except the doctor.
Ahh, the doctor. Simon Tam, brother to River and medic on Serenity. She'd often casually gazed into his eyes and found something there. She'd found herself wondering about his past. yet there was a darkness there that Kaylee found herself not wanting to know.
She left her thoughts and turned her attention back to River.

River pulled her knees up to her chest and moved her long hair out of her face again, throwing it over her shoulders. She knew that someone was standing not too far away and she had yet turned to see. The soft voice confirmed her thoughts. It was Kaylee.
"Um...River? Are you okay?"
She was a bit uneasy, maybe even somewhat afraid, River could hear it in her voice, could see it in the stance Kaylee was in. The young girl looked from Kaylee out to the cargo back and then down at the deck plates. The machanic had always been nice enough her, always friendly.
"I'm fine, just thinking." She said quietly, playing with the hem of her dress.

Kaylee looked down at her feet and then back at River. She smiled weakly.
"Okay. Well I'll talk to you later I guess." She said and started walking away, back the way she came.
She reached her room and collapsed on the bed, feeling Serenity working beneath her.
'That's my girl...' She thought and closed her eyes, slowly drifting off to sleep.
