And the reason was that it should have been posted in the Fanfiction.net Discussion sticky. But really? I was talking about a separate site and its features. A site that is CLEARLY NOT FANFICTION.NET

Gah! gonk

Did you say as much to the mod who moved it? (Not that I think they'd listen. But still…)

I've been debating on if I should.
I looked at the Fanfiction.Net Discussion Sticky and there's no way to separate the distinction--like if I wanted to branch off of it or something because while it is related to ff.net, the topic itself is still about a different site.

Just saw this. Okay, so here's a quote from the fanfiction forum rules announcement dated 6/20/2008:

Quote:
Commonly Misplaced Threads

Discussion topics:
For discussing fanfiction in general, please use the Writers forum.
For discussing Fanfiction.net and similar sites, please use the Fanfiction.net Discussion sticky.
For discussing an anime/manga/comic series, please use the Anime/Manga/Comics forum.
For discussing a movie or television series, please use the Entertainment Discussion forum.
For discussing a book or book series, please use the Books forum.
For discussing video games or other games, please use the Gaming Discussion forum.

I colored the rule relating to your AO3 thread red. Now, although there's a rule set up... the rule doesn't make sense. The Fanfiction.net discussion thread was created to discuss FFnet exclusively, not lump a bunch of posts about different (albeit similar) sites in it (and if I remember correctly, the original poster got their thread hijacked by a mod to turn it into a sticky in the first place). Throwing in posts about AO3 and Wattpad or other similar sites into the FFnet discussion thread seems counterproductive to someone like me who enjoys organization. I go to the FFnet discussion thread to talk about and read posts about FFnet, not other sites. Also, just a glance at the first page of the forum shows several threads that are considered spam posts and low-content posts by the forum rules and yet... they're still there and not in the dreaded CB. rolleyes

There's been a lot of unhappy folks in the different forums complaining about threads being moved. Especially when mods who usually stick to one forum (ex: CB, ED) move topics from other Forums around. My usual hangout is the Lifestyle Discussions forum and I've seen many threads that followed the guidelines to the T get moved into the CB for "Not following the guidelines".

I think Gaia needs to revamp the forums...or at least organize it better sweatdrop

I would love to see the Fanfiction subforum get a revamp. emotion_kirakira

Who knows, maybe you could end up pioneering the first AO3 discussion thread sticky? blaugh

However, I completely agree that the fanfiction subforum needs a complete overhaul. As it stands, it's getting no love and is one of the slower moving forums on Gaia.

omg yes emotion_drool
I might even poke one of the forum mods to entertain the idea at least.
And yeah...slower moving is a vast understatement for that forum emo

Or you could apply to be a mod? Anyway, I say go for it if you're wanting to get an AO3 sticky up. It'd definitely make more sense to have that than to have the FFnet discussion sticky filled with AO3 (and related site) posts. I mean honestly, having a load of AO3-related posts in the FFnet sticky feels like spam to me. But I guess my definition of spam differs greatly from Gaia's since I consider a lot of the posts in the fanfiction subforum itself are spam (like that one with hundreds upon hundreds of pages of discussion that are completely unrelated to the original purpose of the thread but it keeps getting bumped even though fanfiction is no longer even being discussed and what is being discussed is better left for the pm system). pirate

Oddly enough, I actually have applied to be a mod on my main account. It's almost been a year since I applied, but a buddy of mine said it took him a year before he even heard anything back from the staff. sweatdrop I'm still hopeful though 3nodding

Here's to hoping you get in. emotion_brofist
Hopefully you can get in for the fanfiction subforum so you can try to turn it around. We're all counting on you! No pressure.
