Are you an impatient writer? I know I am. I have so many ideas and things I want to write but it's so frustrating when you have everything pre-planned. Like...I have this one story. And I'm going to turn it into a series, but I desperately want to start the next story in the sequence. BUT I CAN'T! crying The order MUST be followed because I know the few readers I have will just LOVE IT, but I NEED TO WRITE IT. But again..they're not ready for that just yet. And it certainly doesn't help that every new chapter I write, I'm inspired to write a chapter for the next story and I have to force myself to stay on course. ...but the IDEAS!!!! gonk How about you? How do you stand not wanting to rush straight to the good part? Or the next good part? How do you feel after you reach the end of all that built up tension?

Well... Who's to say I haven't rushed to the good part before? ninja Nah, I haven't. I mostly keep myself from doing this by telling myself that I don't want to ruin anything for my readers. So, with that in mind, I'm able to keep a steady pace with my writing. Once I reach that good part, though, it starts all over again because then there's another part that I want to get to. rofl

Sometimes I'll skip everything and just write "the good part". Then after that's done, if I still have the motivation, I'll write the events leading up to "the good part" and maybe some conclusions and suddenly I'll have a story.
There's nothing wrong with rush writing. Just with rush posting.

I've got a whole word document dedicated to the snippets that come to mind that I REALLY wanna write. I just pop them there and hold on to them until I have the chance to use them. You know...so I don't forget...or rush too much.

You know...so I don't forget...or rush too much. I do the same thing! But I made the mistake of forgetting about the document and I wrote the chapter without this one hilarious scene (at least I thought it was hilarious) and kicked myself when I found the document after having posted already. rofl

I was so irritated. emotion_donotwant But it's fun to find interesting tidbits that I had forgotten about. It's great to be able to work them into a story even if I had thought that I'd missed an opportunity to incorporate them as "good parts" that I'm anxious for people to read~

Oh I totally can get impatient. I remember when I first started writing, I would actually just jump to writing the scenes that I wanted. But I will never do this again. It made it hard to organize, I didn't know where abouts they needed to go and they were written before all of the things that happened before them were written so things would be missing or just not well done. So, yeah, I don't do that anymore. Occasionally, I'll write out a rough future scene if I really want to get to it or if I think I'll never get that far but thats really it.

Recently, my bf got me into the habit of briefly writing out future/possible scenes so I don't forget them. It helps since I know when to stop myself from continuing on with it, and it also lets me go back and make changes when I do get back around to that scene.

For my book I have a bunch of those. Every now and then I go back through and read them to get inspiration back. I've done it a couple times with my current fanfiction but not that much.

Renkon Root Sometimes I'll skip everything and just write "the good part". Then after that's done, if I still have the motivation, I'll write the events leading up to "the good part" and maybe some conclusions and suddenly I'll have a story. There's nothing wrong with rush writing. Just with rush posting. I use the exact same method to write. Sometimes the good part is the easiest to plan because it writes itself. xd
