The night was young with the setting sun glistening like rubies on the waterfront. Charming Char was as magnificent in the fresh in the night as it was during the day. It was a large yacht, as magnificent as any, with a plethora of lanterns to accent the festivities going on both below and above deck. The vessel was named for the beloved Charmeleon belonging to Winston Stern, the proud yacht owner, who opened it's doors for some of the most lascivious and sought after parties.

As it happened with every party, most of the guests were the young and rich looking for a good time with a Poke' friendly atmosphere, with just enough common folk to make it interesting. The tickets were nothing to shake a fist at; expensive as they were, radio stations all across the land held contests giving them out for free.

Bethanne just happened to win three.

She had waited by the radio with a phone in her hand for three hours until the contest opened, and had then called a record fifty-three times. Technically, she had won four, but a woman at the radio station had wanted to go with her friends. Bethanne had over heard and well...she really only needed three tickets anyway. It wasn't as if Will would willingly go to something like that.

But she knew two that would.

Standing on the deck of the Charming Char, Bethanne noticed the growing crowd. Very shortly they would shove off, and the real party would get started. It was all very exciting! She brushed back strands of hair that had fallen out of her neat updo, and frowned when the wind blew them right back into her eyes. It was an odd time of year for a yacht party, seeing as cold as it was, but the abundant fire type Poke'mon weaving around the crowd with their controlled flames and the ships heaters kept things toasty.

I should have worn the heels. Bethanne frowned, kicking her feet around in her practical flats. She had been worried that the dancing and walking would wear on her. Now she just felt out of place, despite her garb. At least she had proper jewelry; Raxka had seen to that and she was ever so grateful.

For Raiden the Charming Char was not charming at all. The ampharos was still disappointed in the fact that his planned quiet evening was not going to be spent in the training room, but rather now in a loud place. A party on a yacht as well...just what he loved. Still his reluctance to come along had been pushed aside since it was Bethanne rather than Raxka that had came up with the idea. Seeing her excitement and hearing about those tickets...the teen had no choice but to nod his silent yes.

So here he was trailing along after his sister in more tight and annoying clothes. Having to wear an actual black tie outfit was suffocating to Raiden. He was much more comfortable without a shirt after all. These that had collars on it baffled him as well...how the hell did other guys wear those things with ties added in? He would much rather breathe than struggle with his air.

Well at least the ocean looks nice. He thought glancing over at the moving waves that burned amber with the fading sun. His gaze flickered towards his sister who had located their other party member. Even though it was just a party it didn't hurt to keep his protective gaze over those two tonight.

Unlike her twin who was dismayed at the idea of a party Raxka was brilliant with energy. Dressed politely in the black lace dress that her brother had finally approved of Raxka moved like a dancer. Even though there were several other outfits she had wanted to wear the dress that she had on was still nice. The black lace that clung to her body trailed behind her while leaving the front of her legs wide open to view. Silver jewelry dangled from the shiny's body in the form of bangles and diamond necklaces.

Her goal wasn't with the men flirting with her, but rather to reach the miltank standing already on deck. "Oh! I finally made it to ya, darlin'." Smiling brilliantly Raxka winked at her friend, "I know I saw you earlier, but you look lovely." Even the sparkle of the gem around her friend's neck seemed to match the lovely tangle of red and black on the dress. It was a beautiful vintage necklace that Raxka had happened to find in her belongings. She was more than willing to share her jewelry with her friend and was glad that she had agreed to wear it.

"So what do you think?" Looking around Raxka leaned back towards Bethanne, "Fancy as promised? I can't wait to taste the food and see if it matches~" And maybe slip her hands in a few of those purses and to see if those necklaces were locked tightly around necks. A few of those were quite cute and unique...

Turning so that her back was to the water, Bethanne smiled happily to see her friends. She had no doubt that they would come, and even if Raiden didn't seem quite as thrilled as his sister, she hadn't expected anything less. At least for a night she might get him interested in something other than training. Maybe.

"Not as lovely as you, my sweet." Bethanne crooned with a playful wink. Still, the compliment bolstered her already inflated self esteem for the evening. Dressed as she was she felt as if she could actually hold her own with the social sharks on the yacht.

Tapping her chin, she looked over the crowd, and nodded excitedly. "It's wonderful! I've never been to a party this nice before and -" Bethanne raised her hands to cover her ears as a loud horn signaled their departure from the dock. Although the ships engines were soft, they were powerful enough for the miltank to feel the shift in her feet. "-it's my first time on a boat - sorry, yacht- so I just..." She shivered from glee. Turning around, she grabbed onto the railing and looked overboard as the ships hull cut through waves.

She didn't have to worry about Raxka joining her, but Raiden...She waved him closer. "Come here, look look, isn't this amazing?"

Raxka smiled playfully, "Care with your compliments, I don't know if my heart can take such beautiful wooing." The shiny's face was already flushed with the excitement of being in a crowd and having Bethanne and Raiden both there made the event sweeter. There was no real reason either to be here than to enjoy the evening with her friends. No worry of rushing off in the middle of a dance or dessert course...just a night to enjoy herself.

"Oh?" Raxka shook her head, "If I had known I would have brought you along on such occasions before!" At Raiden's sudden glare she lightly blushed. Okay so maybe not on those types of occasions... She still didn't know how Bethanne would take to their different styles of night life. Stealing was a common thing right? Couldn't heists be good bonding exercises between friends?

Turning his glare to look towards Bethanne the ampharos slowly moved forward, "I suppose so." His soft voice was surprisingly kind towards the miltank unlike the sharp comments he normally saved for his sister's antics. Though his gaze did hesitate a moment as he glanced Bethanne over...she looked lovely yet there was something about the necklace. Surely not. Raxka knows better than that. He just shook his head lightly, "As long as you enjoy it then I suppose it is amazing."

Surprisingly he didn't mind the ocean. In a way he loved swimming just as much as any water pokemon. It was good exercise after all and a great way to relax one's mind. Something he would need with his sister who was already off to mingle in with the crowd and slip her hands into a few pockets.

Flushing, Bethanne shrugged her shoulders. "It never really came up, before. Besides this..." She swept her hand out to the growing crowd, "is out of my league. It's nice every once in a while, though." Now why was Raiden glaring? Did he-? Oh. Maybe he was embarrassed to have her around, or maybe he even usually came to these things with a secret lover...? Both options didn't sit well with her so she shook them off.

He was always very sweet though, so even if he did have a hidden agenda Bethanne didn't mind. It was his own business, right? "Would you...want to try dancing again?" Seeing Raxka slip into the crowd brought her own attention to the thriving dance scene. Granted, it was also in one of the most watched areas of the yacht. Maybe he wouldn't want to? Raiden was a wall flower, after all. She would have had better luck with his sister.

"It's more upbeat here. Maybe you'll be better at this kind of dancing than you were at the Valentine's Day party?"

Raxka just waved her hand, "Psh. Darlin' you have me as a friend so nothing is out of your league now." The shiny winked playfully as she disappeared through the crowd. She still needed to take Bethanne out shopping with her again one day. Like real shopping with all the high class streets and clothes for days. The thought made her chuckle lightly. Surely Raiden wouldn't mind a few thousand missing from his account right? Girls had to get their accessories after all.

Raiden blinked in surprise as Bethanne asked him something, "I'm sorry...what?" The ocean had been so calm that he had found himself watching it rather than listening to the request. Still the words had registered and he found himself slightly frowning. He had danced with her once before, yet the idea was still difficult for him. Not because of Bethanne, but because he truly hated dancing in a crowd. It was too easy to get caught in traffic then and who knew when he'd have to fight?

Still the memory of Raxka getting him to come since it was Bethanne's night rang in his mind, "Do you think?" The ampharos looked around at all the bouncing bodies, "I still don't like it, but if you want to...I suppose I can't let you go into that mess alone." How else could he protect her after all? Even worse than being caught in that mess was being separated during it.

Not that anything would happen tonight right?

Oh yes, that made her feel sooo much more confident. Bethanne just rolled her eyes with a good natured smile. Raxka was very much an uptown class, while Bethanne was more homespun. It was nice to dabble every once in a while, but she would be just as happy eating pizza at home. Spend a couple bucks, and sit back!

Frowning, she reached out to pinch his arm. Bethanne could understand the pull of the ocean, but really now, was that any way to behave? "You didn't have to come tonight if you didn't want to, you know." The miltank sounded a little disappointed, but more in herself for taking him out of his element. What had she expected? Bethanne should have just hocked the last ticket at the gate.

"You're taking one for the team," She smiled and looped her arm in his. Bethanne led the way to the dance floor, moving past a group of bodies that moved with the rhythm. "One day, and then we'll go back up to the deck with some drinks."

Simple, right?

When she'd found a good spot, Bethanne moved her hold down to his hand and started to dance.

It was while Raxka was wiggling through the crowd to the beat of the music that something caught her eye. Am I crazy? Don’t answer that Raxka… Smirking at her own joke the teen began to move towards the back of the boat. Walking slowly the shiny ampharos pouted towards the attractive man blocking her pathway, “Care to show a gal around? I don’t think I’ve ever been on a yacht like this one before…” Large, innocent baby blue eyes blinked slowly at him as she worked her way through.

Hopefully her casual ‘conversation’ techniques could work here. She just really hoped that the spark of yellow she spotted just a few moments ago was someone’s rather shiny dress. It would be much more pleasant than the appearance of some stupid thugs followed by a jolteon. Now that would be an annoying surprise.

Wincing Raiden’s gaze slipped quietly over to Bethanne, “I know.” He replied before frowning. Raxka had told him that his lack of social skills really could hurt others, but he hadn’t cared before. Seeing the happy Bethanne even a little upset made him feel awkward, “But I came anyway.” He shrugged, “Couldn’t let you two come alone.” Gods only knew what trouble Raxka could find. The last thing he wanted was to leave Bethanne in a dangerous situation with his twin sister.

At her smile he nodded slowly. If this was taking one for the team then she didn’t expect too much from him. The thought made Raiden smile ever so faintly before following her onto the dance floor. “If that’s what you want to do.” He replied while dodging around a dancing couple. Really though he couldn’t understand this life. What was the purpose in all of this fantasy? But if it made Raxka and Bethanne happy he supposed he could deal with it for a time.

Though perhaps if he hadn’t been so focused on trying to keep in pace with Bethanne the ampharos may have noticed the shadows starting to move into place.

For a gal of her size, Bethanne owned the dance floor. She was surprisingly elegant, which was in no small part thanks to her sensible footwear choice. If she had worn heels she would have fallen, and broken her hip for sure! Moving her hip here, twisting her arms there, swaying her tail around; it was all just one big game. A game she liked to win, by golly, but she wasn't alone. While she knew this wasn't exactly Raiden's forte, it meant so much to her just to have him here. He wasn't running away, or complaining; he was just letting her go with the flow.

"I wish they would turn up the lights." She called out over the music. Even while they moved, Bethanne noticed the lights had become dimmer. Maybe it was to add to the mood? Not likely, since a few other guests were murmuring about the sudden change. "I can't even see Raxka anymore, it's so dark."

Raiden actually had a faint smile on his face as he watched Bethanne dance. Despite his own distaste of the situation, the guy could give it to her. She truly was alive like a dancing fire out here...

Blinking at Bethanne spoke to him, Raiden frowned. "It's a strange choice for a dance floor, maybe their special effects aren't working?" But it was all too strange. At a party like this there were hundreds of people wearing fine jewelry, many more expensive than necessary. Wouldn't it make for a perfect heist? Raxka surely wouldn't have planned anything here...there wasn't any rare jewelry that he had noticed. Once more his mind flickered towards Bethanne. "Did Raxka say anything about the necklace you're wea-" His words trailed off as sparks light up the skies.

Those weren't fireworks, but rather electric attacks.

And it was then that he noticed the rather out of place pokehumans moving through the crowds. Right towards them..."Dammit, Raxka!" Cursing Raiden reached out and grabbed Bethanne's wrist, "Don't ask questions, just move with me."

"Maybe." Bethanne shrugged. It was getting harder to see where she was moving by the second, and only faint outlines of bodies around her made it so that she wouldn't step on anyone's foot. She could barely make out his words above the thrum of the bass, causing her to ask a very loud, "What?" before the sparks lit up the sky outside. For a moment Bethanne couldn't breath. A part of her hoped for a freak, sea bound storm, but she knew better.

Bethanne wasn't ready to be pulled after him, and stumbled for her efforts. She lost one of her flats, causing her to move rather awkwardly through the crowd of bodies until she kicked off the other shoe. "What's going on?! Did you...Oh my Arceus, you two planned something for tonight, didn't you? You couldn't just take one night off!"

Typical. Just typical. She should have known that at a big party like this those two wouldn't be able to help themselves...
