Happy Majora's Mask release day, everybody!
It's Friday, 13th February and there was really no better day to relaunch Majora's Mask to the world. biggrin

That said, let's have a little fun.

Share your triumphs at your local game store here.
Did you pick up the base Majora's Mask 3D game? Did you get a fabulous Limited Edition?
Maybe you even scored the Majora's Mask themed New 3DS XL.

If not, then don't worry, tell us about your experiences with Majora's Mask Classic.
How did you find the game? Easy? Hard? Medium?
Did you like or hate it? Have those feelings changed over time?
What is your most favourite memory of the game?

Let's just reminisce, and get back to action in this thread dedicated to Majora's Mask discussion.

Oh, mine is terribly fated, all right. Or probably was? Lemme explain... (This might take a while...)
*sits down and stretches fingers*

OK, so I had preordered the standard game (I had no interest in the Skull Kid figurine), and no hope whatsoever that the NN3DS would come to my local game store chain. They were like "no, we're not having that". Then out of nowhere, two weeks ago, they said they would send an email the following week to customers who had preordered whichever version, in which they had a very nice surprise. Really teasing message, considering they had done the same when they announced they would have the LE w/Skull Kid.

So, half a week goes by, they send the email. The email had an encrypted message (a "change the letter assigned to each mask to uncover the message" puzzle, very nice and simple, but creative and different). The message said they would take only in-store preorders. The day the preorder was starting: That same day, Wednesday 4th. The time the preorder was starting: Three days from the time the message was sent (Termina Time). I was a bit confused as to why they would say the day was today, then the time stated it was 3 days later. Well, my stupid little brain said "Oh, okay, so Saturday 7th 6PM". Around 6:40, a friend texts me telling me he received the message too, takes him around 10 minutes to solve the puzzle and says:
-"Oh, so it's in a few minutes"
-*confused as hell* "How come?"
-"Yeah, each hour in Termina is around 1 minute, so 72 hours, that's 7:12PM or something"
-.... O_O "FUDGE"

Malu runs to the subway station, after having her friend tell her he's going to his nearest store and try to preorder it for her. Malu gets on the subway, and notices she has lost calls from said friend. It's 7:13... "I'm so EFFING dumb... How did I not see that? Termina Time... ugh... I even had time to post this problem in Gaia to see what other Zelda fans thought of the strange wording on the message." Five stations later, she arrives and runs to get to the store. She calls her friend to see what's up.

-"What happened? I noticed your lost calls"
-"It's over"
-"WHAT. I just arrived here."
-"And I had a chance too... I got to the register, but they were asking for more money than I could give to preorder crying I'm sorry..."
-"Nah... it's okay, don't worry. It's not your fault... They didn't say anything on the email about the preorder price"

Malu goes to the store only to verify they're sold out. Malu goes back home, empty-handed... When she arrives home, she deletes the post on Gaia, since it's too late and no one had responded anyway. Malu goes on to feel stupid for the rest of the week, even wondering if she's a real Zelda fan, when she failed to guess the puzzle correctly.

February 13th
It was pretty uneventful, I guess. So I went to the store to get the game, my sister met me at the store (for some reason she had curiosity, even when she's only played OoT). She told me that there were like 6 customers before the store opened. When I arrived it had been open for about 5 minutes or so. I got my game (and a pretty sweet poster), went back home and played the first cycle. It was pretty good. So far I like the changes they've made (Minigames are registered as events, so I can keep track of what I have to do in that cycle, awesome. And the save system is so much better. Whoever thought of the original system was a bit crazy). ALSO! The intro in Spanish states the friend that Link is looking for is a she. I almost shed a tear, being a bit more sure that Navi is the friend he's looking for n_n

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
9:20PM rolled around and I was here in the computer callibrating my screens. An email arrived, with the subject "LAST UNITS - PREORDER NEW NINTENDO 3DS MAJORA'S MASK EDITION". I started reading through the message. They have more units available! O_O OMG Sudden adrenaline rush. This time, they require that customers who didn't get to preorder with the first puzzle answer a quiz consisting of 10 questions and send them to an email address. So naturally, I answered the quiz as quickly as I could, and sent the email. The email said that the winners will be notified on Monday. Problem is some of the questions are a bit vague... Like "How much time did development take?" According to the Iwata asks MM it was one year, but the time between the releases of OoT and MM is about 2 years. So that was my full answer. Then another one was "What is the object needed to create the strongest sword?" I answered the Gold Dust and Razor Sword, but I don't know if they expected the Fierce Deity Mask to create the double-helix sword... or the Great Fairy Mask to get the fairies from the last dungeon and get the Fairy Sword. The key word there was "object needed to create", I think. The other two swords are not "created" they're just... there. You get them. I dunno... I'll just wait for Monday to come.

"But there is still hope, the power of the Sages remains" -Rauru.
(Just thought this quote fits perfectly right now for me.)

TL;DR
I had an opportunity to get the NN3DS Majora's Mask edition, blew it completely, then tonight, hours after I went to get my game, I got a new opportunity and I'm waiting for Monday to come to see if I'm one of the lucky ones.

So yeah... wish me luck! (And thanks a lot for your time for reading the whole thing if you did ^^; I tend to ramble on a lot)

Haha, wow! That's one heck of an adventure!
I hope you get one ^_^

And my apologies for taking so long to respond, I've dedicated this last week to searching every nook and cranny of 3D Termina between work and home life.
I may do another "Impressions" post like I did with the Hyrule Warriors DLC, but suffice to say, once I got over some of the changes that have been made, I loved the game just as much as the first time I played.

I got the European CE which came with a steelbook, a poster, a pin and of course the game itself. I'm still quite content with my A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL, so I'm in no rush to upgrade right now.

Unfortunately, I didn't get it. I don't know if something was wrong with my answers, or if it was the typo I had of my account number registered on their page (yeah, I typed a 633 instead of 663, go me!), or if I sent it too late. For all I know it could be that my email didn't make it to their inbox. sad

However, I have loved the changes to the game so far (I cleared Snowhead temple today) I'm not looking forward to swimming slower as a Zora... And the only other thing I have a complaint about is traduction related. They changed Tatl's name to Taya (I don't have a clue why) but Tael's name is unchanged. It's not that they made a "tattle-tale" equivalent in Spanish. And they left Honey and Darling's name unchanged... I would've thought they would translate their names to make more sense instead of Tatl's. Oh well...

Good thing about the translation: they referred to Link's "friend" he's looking for as a girl ("amiga"), so it further supports he was looking for Navi. n_n Point for the translation team!

Oh, man, the European CE was much more cooler than the American one. Well, the multiple items are more awesome in my book than the Skull Kid figure. That pin looks sweeeet.

The good thing about not getting the Majora's Mask new 3DS is that I can postpone getting the New 3DS until there's a game I want to buy and that it's New 3DS exclusive. Also, there could be a chance they release it in another color I like more than red or black.

Of all the bad luck.

I don't know if I'd say ours was better. The stuff inside is pretty cool though.
Also, since I have a Fierce Deity statue, I kind of want the Skull Kid one to go along with it. So I'm thinking about finding one on eBay soon.

Well, I guess it depends on personal taste. That or the grass looks like it has more rupees on the other side. I bet they should look nice together.
