It's been years after the Blight.
Thedas has finally started to pick itself back up
and heal from all of its damages.
The Civil War between the mages and Templars is continuing,
leaving many without homes or places to go.
The people look up to the Chantry to stop the madness
that is happening
right outside outside their homes and towns

In a historic turn of events
near the sleepy but ever lively town of Haven, the Chantry
and other officials representing theTemplars and mages
meet for a conference concerning
the possibility of peace at the Temple of Sacred Ashes...

Many of Thedas'
most high, holy and important
social, religious and political members
are there,
finally relieved at the thought of possible
peace

The Town of Haven

Emari Hidari, a Dalish Elf, is sent by her clan's Keeper
to bring news of what happens at the peace conference.
She hides silently and patiently
in the shadows for the conference to end.
Unknown to her, this day would change her life
forever.

Without any warning, a massive hole was torn in the sky,
creating a Rift,
to be known as the Breach,
between the Fade and all of Thedas.
Before she, or anyone at the conference,
could even think about escaping,
it was far too late.

The Temple of Sacred Ashes was destroyed by the explosion
caused by the Breach.
Everything and everyone was destroyed
and demons from the Fade escaped
into the world.

In the blink of an eye, everyone was executed
except Emari.
Though she did not realize at the moment,
she was thrown physically into the Fade,
something nearly unheard of in all of history.
Demons surrounding her, she fled for an exit:
a patch of light at the top of a small cliff.
There was a woman fleeing as well.
Suddenly, she realized:
it's Divine Justinia.
The Divine was pulled into the rift as well.
She looked like she had aged one-million years.

Emari chased after her,
hoping to help them to both survive.
The Divine urged her on
as they raced up the cliff to the exit
until they finally reached it.
Only one could make it through, however.
The Divine defended her,
forcing her through the exit and back into Thedas.

She emerged from a rift in the Fade,
witnessed by some who say they saw 'Andraste' behind her,
collapsing unconscious
onto the ruins of what was once
the Temple.
A mark lay on her left hand,
glowing green
like the rifts
that had opened all over Thedas.
