Here you can talk politics.

Rules:

1. No simple "I hate (enter name here)." Those posts will be deleted, because I find them enraging. I will be selfish, deal with it.
2. State a problem and describe it, giving your views or opinions.
3. No flaming others' opinions. Three warnings only.
4. Everything posted must have a reason to be so. EX:
Quote:
WILL BE DELETED: George Bush is an idiot. He doesn't know what he's doing.
These leave questions and make the writer seem like an idiot.
Quote:
GOOD: I don't like the fact that Bush wants to give an Arabic company control to American ports. Isn't that opening us to terrorism?

Warnings: To be announced when a rule is broken.

thankyou for making this, hawkeye-san. i will express my opinion of bush in a non-to-be-deleted way. i hope.

We started out before bush's presidency being friends with a lot of nations. one of them is france. as you can see, our relationship with france will never be the same, can never be the same. eight years with bush on president's seat will scar the whole world. millions of people have died in iraq. millions of americans died as well- bush's fellow citizens. how could americans re-elect him?

Secondly, the issue of taxes and retirement funds. what kind of ((bumbling idiot)) person would give more taxes to the poor? when he knows that the poor can't afford them? is he making no steps toward making the poor not poor anymore and getting them off wellfare?

yes, i am only 12. but i've campained against bush twice, for allyson schwartz and connie williams...not to mention meeting them. i'm happy you made this thread, it was a really good idea wink

It was no problem. I'm very into politics myself.

Okay, here we go, I'll see how I can respond to this.

Friendly countries: Do you understand why we are no longer friends with the other countries? It is because a lot of them had a hand in the black markets, including France.

Understand that Bush' presidency cannot scar the world, no matter how 'bad' a president people thing he is. Clinton, in my opinion, was a bad president and we are not 'scarred,' are we?

The number of American's that have died in the war has not reached the millions, I don't believe. Did you know that one of Sadam's generals said that Sadam had gotten rid of the MWOD before the war started? They didn't even know he did it until they were gone, proving that he did have them and it was cause to go to war.

As for taxes, I'll have to get back to you. My mind is numb at the moment from writing sections of a book with Datherine(mostly her book) and Rping.

I suppose it's my turn. This is coming from someone with nearly no political views; Heck, I don't know the difference between a Republican and a Democrat; but I know what I want and what I want to see happen.

In our school elections, I didn't vote because I didn't really like either candidate. I didn't like the war raged on Iraq from Bush's first four years, and I knew nothing about Kerry. But as the number of casualities and drafts rise, I'm finding it harder and harder not to hate Bush. It feels to me like everything that concerns my future and the future of my peers has been compromised by Bush's presidency.

A president should be a person who cares about how the people are effected by their decisions, not just one region or one political party. It shouldn't be about profit; it should be about the improvement of lives.

The government doesn't make any sense now anyway. I could rant on about different problems, but I'll shut up now.

I'm 15, a freshman, but I already know what should be going on in government.

Thank you.

I hate bush but it has nothing to do with the war.

my hate for bush is cause hes not willing to let Gay/lez people marrie!!! he has NO RIGHT WHAT SO EVER over who gets married!!!! with the exception of like having more then one wife/hubby!

Him trying to keep people who love each other from marrieing is wrong!!! i have no opinion on the war fully because im tired of it and i dont really like the way that the military operates. i cant put my feeling to the war into words like i can for this Marrage thing.

to force them to go to Canada or one of what....three states where thay said its ok is wrong!! im Bisexual and if i deside to marrie a Girl theres none in the world that can stop me if i really want to!!! No even the Stupid President of the United States!!!!

That's another thing I dont agree with. Thank you, Tiger.

No one has any right to dictate who you marry; only you. I have a few friends that are gay and quite a few that are bi, and I think they should be able to marry whoever they want. I have a neautral view on pretty much anything; I have no political or religious affiliation to stop me or cloud my judgement. Everyone deserves to be loved, and I have heard the most terrible stories about those who believe being gay is a sin. I'm one of the few people in this world willing to ignore religion or political differences, but it ticks me off when the prejudice against those of different sexual preferences are discriminated against. That's why my motto is:

Lez faire and leave me the f-ck out of it!!

Lez faire means "Let do" for those who don't know.

*nods head so furiously in agreement with venom and tiger it hurts* i completely forgot about that! thanks for mentioning that. it's VERY important that you marry who you wish. and gender has NOTHING to do with it. just like its not illegal for blacks to marry whites. it's their decision.

now. getting onto what hawkeye-san said over here

clinton did not start wars, and did not do CHILDISH things like call french fries "freedom fries" when france did not do what we want.

i don't know anything about having a hand in the black market, however, i know the reason we were originally mad at them was that they refused to join our war. on our side. so. we dropped them, like stones.

clinton's vice-prez did not SHOOT someone.

clinton did not scar us. Mr. George W. Bush will. you just wait. actually, in my oppinion, i don't think clinton was the best prez, either. now. back into the war.

a couple hundred lives is enough to make peace. (i'm very sorry indeed to bring something up like this) but if you had a relative, and they went to war, and never came back, who would you blame it on? some poor iraqi soldier that was just trying to do his/her job? or the person that made your relative go to war? imagine that almost a million times over. horrible. just. horrible.

I'm not even going to bring up my opinion on gay marriges, but you must understand, Bush is a Christian and does things in a Christian way. He's the president, he's got the power, not much you can do about it.

Cliton had no reason to start a war, therefore did not. ((Although, I distinctly remember hearing that he sent troops to Korea? Hm, I'll have to ask my history teacher...))Bush had a reason, and acted upon what he believed to be the best choice. Remember, bullies don't just go away if you ignore them. You've got to take a stand. So, you might get punched in the eye, but you keep doing it and soon, all of the other kids will stand up with you as well. The bully will back down in time, finding his efforts to terrorize those weaker fruitless.

The freedom fries thing was just a joke, not to be taken to heart. We still call them french fries, don't we? ((Their actually Belgian, I think ninja ))

As for the Cheney shooting his hunting partner, I can't believe it was brought up. My uncle is one of the best hunters I know of, and he shot his son in the leg once. Accidents happen sometimes, they can't always be prevented. Cheney friend said that it was partly his fault too, because he didn't say he was going to fetch his bird, which is what you're supposed to do, I've heard.

Nothing to comment on the whole 'scarred' thing, although, Hitler comes to mind with scarring. Bush is nothing like Hitler. NOTHING like him.

Actually, I've had a relative die in Iraq. No one forced him to go to sign up for the military. There was no draft. He went because he felt it was his duty and I don't wish to speak of him anymore because the pain is still fresh.

Ask any recruiter, when you sign up for any military branch of the US, you know full well that if the country goes to war, you have a very high chance of going to fight.

Soldiers are pawns in the world made out to be a chess board. In joining the military, you sign up to be a pawn and know full well you're doing it.

"In war, there is no such thing as second place." A quote I got from a quotation dictionary. It seemed to fit the war conversation.

I'm not claiming a side, I'm just stating facts and my arguments. Must I choose a side? Would it make people listen to you more if you claimed a side? Or if you chose one, would people cover their ears and say "They must be wrong if they choose [enter political candidate here]"?

Do I have to be for or against someone?
PostPosted: Fri Apr 14, 2006 6:38 pm

...it's not like that. it's not like i'd shut you out or anything.... i mean...are you old enough to vote? it's basically who you voted for. unless you voted for the person you didn't wanna vote for, which woul be plain stupid.

I know I'm not old enough to vote, and I don't plan to unless I agree with the candidate's platforms. I say screw religion if it has anything to do with politics and vice versa. At this point, I have no political OR religious affiliation.

*laughs* I'm not old enough to vote yet, I'm afraid. Although, by the next election, I'll be past old enough. ^^
