Weapons Analysis

Weapons Analysis, a class where students learn, not only the proper functioning and maintanence of their own weapons, but how to be versatile in the usage and understanding of all weapons. By having a greater understanding of not only their own weapon's capabilities but the capabilities and mechanics of all weapons, teams will be able to respond to the fighting styles of their teammates, as well as react swiftly and efficiently in the event that their own weapons are lost.

(Enter from History/Military Strategies Classroom)

Vin approached the door that lead to the classroom and immediately felt a sort of relief. Just by the interior designs of the room, she was overcome with a sense of...familiarity? Either way, it was obvious that she had finally found the right classroom. Walking to the head of the class, her fingers trailed over the top of the mahogany desk, expertly crafted and ornately designed. 'Very classy, very nice,' Vin internally decided as she rounded the desk and took a seat in the plush wine-colored chair. A small smile crossed her face as she eased deeper into the chair and looked around her. The seating arrangements for the students was in the style typical of Beacon, but they classy mahogany desks and soft, cushioning of the seats matching the hue of her own chair added a bit of luxury to the room.

Averting her eyes to roam the walls, she allowed her eyes to trail and linger over the multitude of weapon schematics and display tables of gears, blades, and parts of all weapon-kind. Nodding to herself that this was indeed a beautiful room, at least in her own mind, she reached into her bag and pulled out random files, utensils, a coffee mug, and her beloved yard stick. Anyone watching would have surely wondered how she managed to fit the ruler into such a small bag, but as it were, there were no witnesses, so the question would remain a mystery. Finally, she reached down and gingerly lifted up, what appeared to be a nozzle, and indeed it was. She, along with the other two remaining members of her original team in her days as a student at beacon each bore a piece of their deceased team leader's Wechselapparat, Third Degree, as a means to never forget him and to never forget the mistakes they made. Her had closed around the dented, broken-off nozzle tip as she closed her eyes in remembrance. After a moment, Vin opened them again and placed the tip in a glass casing on her desk. Sparing the scrap metal one last glance, she stood up with determination in her eyes. The time for living in the past was over. Vin needed to prepare her students for the future.

Sienna entered the Weapons Analysis classroom, her sniper rifle, Sublime Snider, slung over her shoulder, not knowing what to find but hoping for some hands on studying. Sniping was her strong suit. Sienna liked keeping her distance on the battlefield, preferring to line up the perfect shot that was certain to drop her target in the most efficient way possible. In the classroom and among her peers, however, she was much more amiable and enjoyed closing the gap and enter the fray of friendly conversation.

"I hope I'm not interrupting anything...my name's Sienna. I have a class with you, with Miss...Rogue, was it? You're name was on a placard by the door. I just wanted to say hello before class officially started. I like to get in a one-on-one with the teacher before the lessons begin, so I can get a feel for the environment." She smiled and fidgeted with her goggles. "Scouting was one of my parents' specialties. It sort of rubbed off on me...in all aspects, not just while hunting Grimm."

Kitsa Beryl

Kitsa had wandered up and down the hallway once already but stuck her head in the door of the weapons analysis room just to see where she might want to sit and was quite surprised to see another student and one of the teachers she had met before in the other class room. She leaned Death's embrace against the wall and smiled. " Oh I wasn't expecting anyone to be in here. Nice to run into you again ma'am." Kitsa said with a slight bow towards the teacher. She then turned to the other student. " I don't believe we have met before. Name's Kitsa. What's yours if you don't mind me asking?" Kitsa was being unusually cheerful towards a stranger that she didn't know but the girl seemed like a nice enough person so she was going to give her the benefit of the doubt here. She gave a slight smile as her jackal ears and tail twitched.

D'oh! Of course another student eager to learn would enter the classroom before Sienna and Miss Rouge could begin their conversation. Eh, but who knew? Maybe this Kitsa could add to the conversation.

"Kitsa, huh? My name's Sienna. Nice to meet you." Sienna reached out for a handshake. She took notice of the faunus girl's weapon. A melee type, and an axe, at that. Similar to her tomahawk attachment on her Snider sniper rifle, to be sure. She nodded towards Kitsa's weapon on the wall.

"You're good with those axes, I'll bet. Care to give me some pointers, some time, yeah? I'm a long distance relations kind of girl..." Sienna undid the stock and butt of her rifle, leaving the barrel and scope on the sling, and extended it into a bigger than average tomahawk. "But I like to keep this handy. For close encounters."

"I haven't had much use for it but I learned a long time ago if an enemy gets too close..." She swung her axe down towards an invisible foe. "It pays to be prepared." Sienna reformed her rifle and turned back to Miss Rouge.

"So, Miss Rouge. What do you prefer? Ranged or close combat?"

Kitsa Beryl
Kitsa smiled and nodded her head side to side as if to agree with Sienna's statement about her skill with her weapon but also not wanting to seem cocky about it as she hesitated for a second ,when Sienna extended her hand out for a hand shake but took took Sienna's hand in a slightly firm grasp and shook her hand." Nice to meet you Sienna. I'll admit that I'm decent with it. Kinda have to be when you mostly are on your own ya know? You're weapon becomes the only friend you can rely on. It also turns into a double bit ax for more power in the hits. As for giving you pointers on ax use for your tomahawk, I think I could find it in me to be so generous." Kitsa said with a slight wink showing she wasn't being arrogant in the least but was having a bit of fun here. " I call her Death's Embrace."

Vin Rouge had been organizing the files she received from the administrative staff when she heard footsteps at her door. When the girl, Sienna, entered her room, Vin was only mildly surprised. By the end of Sienna's polite greeting, Vin prepared to return the greeting, only for it to be interrupted by yet another newcomer.

It seemed that said newcomer was, in fact, Kitsa, the girl from earlier. Vin simply nodded her head in recognition of the other student and let the two to interact, all the while, allowing herself to pick up on tidbits of information about the two young women. Hearing the views of the two was interesting. Upon hearing the question directed at her, she finally decided to set her files aside and speak.

"I have no actual preference, Miss Sienna. I practice well-rounded attacks, alternating between close combat and ranged depending on the situation and the opponent. If I had to actually choose...," she trailed off as if giving the decision actual thought, "I would say I prefer whichever allows me to have the most fun." Vin smiled her own answer. True, it wasn't then= most practical rationale, but it was her honest opinion.

Sienna frowned. The explanation was sound, pragmatic, and common sense, but Miss Rouge's "honest" answer disturbed her. Sure, it was good to enjoy oneself while hunting the creatures of Grimm, but to "have fun" while doing it seemed irresponsible. Friendly competitions were one thing, but when a single mistake could cost someone their life or livelihood...

"Begging your pardon, ma'am, but shouldn't hunts be taken seriously? I mean, my father always said 'you should enjoy what you do' but isn't letting 'fun' determine your fighting style, I don't know...irresponsible?" She looked at the floor for a moment. When she spoke, it was in an offhanded yet matter-of-fact tone.

"When I was little, about ten years old, my family and I were out on a hunt. They told me I could snipe any Grimm I wanted but to keep an eye out. Well, I was wracking up kills, left and right. I was having fun, so much fun that I didn't notice some beowolves sneak up on our position. Fun left my father, the renowned sniper, Arthur Bronson, without the use of his shooting arm. It was because of my carelessness, my 'having fun,' that crippled him and ended his career." Sienna looked up, suddenly very concerned that she was lashing out at a new potential mentor, and a potential partner in Kitsa. She suddenly felt as ashamed as she was when she let her father down all those years ago.

"Oh...I'm sorry! I didn't mean to sound so harsh. I asked a question and practically bit your head off..." Sienna turned to Kitsa, shoving her palm into her forehead.

"Great first impression, huh?"

Kitsa Beryl
Kitsa let out a rare giggle. "It's fine Sienna. I'm not put off in the least. Trust me, you'll know if you offend me. I understand your emotion tied to your past. I find it refreshing when people speak their mind to me rather than dance around a topic. I think what Miss Rouge was trying to get at is that she fights in what way keeps her excited. I have to imagine that excitement is the fun she gets out of it. I've found that if you get bored with a style or too good at it then you begin to make mistakes. The minute you think you have learned everything on a topic is the moment that it gets you in trouble and those around you. Yes it is important to remain focused and on task but don't let the task consume you." Kitsa looked Sienna directly in the eyes and her ice blue eyes took on a serious but deeply troubled look. " I know what it is like to become so focused on a goal that you lose track of yourself..... to walk the tight line between humanity and utter savagery. I stopped having fun and began fighting for vengeance, rage, whatever emotion happened to show itself that day. But then I caught myself before I fell into the abyss and now find great glee in killing Grimm. The more the merrier. Sure I might seem a bit stir fry crazy while doing it but I assure you, it is the only way I stay sane these days. Am I making any sense here? And I hope my words do not offend you Sienna." Kitsa's ears and tail drooped a little as thoughts of what she had done to the humans near her home after the murder of her family flooded back into her mind but she quickly shook them away and returned to the relaxed appearance she had shown before.

At Sienna's heartfelt rant, Vin smiled even more. Once the girl had sufficiently vented, Vin leaned against her desk with an understanding, but still calm look. "I see...this has haunted you for a long time, hasn't it? It's quite alright, Miss Sienna. After all, I can relate to your sorrow quite well. I once believed death and Grimm were the trifle that had nothing to do with me...that is, until the death of someone dear to me."

Vin's eyes slightly glossed over in a far-off gaze, remembering her own tragedies. "I was a student at Beacon, like you, and by that time, I had learned to take things very seriously. My team...didn't share my sentiments. Slackers, the whole lot of them, only sought to 'have fun'. That way of thinking ruined us on our first real mission. It left me and two of my teammates severely wounded and our captain dead. I opted to become a teacher for the very sake of guiding students so that they would be able to learn from their mistakes, before the worst comes to pass."

Seemingly exhausted just from remembering, Vin ran her fingers through her hair as she continued. "That was my resolve...but it ate away at me. I feared even the slightest mistake or slip-up. My mind was in chaos, and nearly cost me my life on the field. I realized then that I could die at any moment." Lifting away from her desk, she walked over to Sienna and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "I am not saying that you shouldn't be serious on the field, but forcing yourself is even more dangerous than the Grimm we hunt. I've mourned and shed my tears, but I must move forward. Each Grimm I face, I face with the realization that this battle could be my last, but I won't let those dark thoughts hinder me."

Suddenly, the smile was gone Vin's face. "My fighting style is 'fun' because I know that I lived a life that I wanted to live, not a life that I feel was forced onto me. I want remember that fighting on that battlefield was my choice, not a burden to bear".

Sienna felt Miss Rouge was being authentic. Fun had cost her and her team but in being too careful and paranoid made things worse. A happy medium had to be found. Sienna would cross that bridge when she came to it.

"Hmm...well, enough somber talk out of me. I'm usually a lot more upbeat. This conversation was very sobering. I'll have to think on it to see if I can make it fit my...outlook. I look forward to your weapon lessons." She nodded towards the teacher. "See you, Kitsa."

Sienna left the classroom, conflicting emotions in her head, but as soon as the door closed, she felt better. She would be her allies' eyes, both figuratively and literally. Her semblance allowed her to see what her allies, and with concentration, her enemies, could see. Being a sniper she'd have overwatch. Even if she got paired up with some gung ho and cavalier hunters, she'd do her best to call out threats and keep her team mates safe.

Kitsa Beryl
Kitsa sighed as Sienna left the room and looked at Miss Rouge." You think she''l be alright? Seems like she's more troubled by her past than I am. Then again my past is tough for a different reason. Family was murdered by humans but I don't blame all humans for their deaths. I know now that humans don't all hate Faunus. I don't act to kindly towards those that do even though I know that it only proves them right sometimes when I really loose it towards them."

Vin gave Kitsa a sad, yet contemplative smile. The world's cruelty came in many forms from pain to prejudice. Still, seeing how the Faunus girl was able to stand on her own two feet and come to such a profound realization, she knew Kitsa would be alright.

Back to the matter at hand... "Ah, don't worry about her. I can see that she is a strong one. She is well on her way to the maturity one must have in this field of work. As are you, for that matter," she cast Kitsa a sideways glance before continuing. "She must come to terms with things in her own time. Having friends close by is all that she needs right now."

Kitsa Beryl
Kitsa gave a thin half smile." Yeah she's lucky enough to have that option of having friends around when she needs them. I wasn't so lucky for awhile. Before I was found wandering the deserts of Vacuo, I was completely alone to fend for myself against any Grimm or humans that attacked me. I don't know how far I would have fallen if that group of traders hadn't found me when they did. Loosing my family was both the worst and best thing to ever happen to me because if it hadn't happened, I most likely wouldn't have the chance to attend here." Kitsa's ears drooped again but she quickly perked back up." Sorry about that. Anyway. Even if Sienna and I don't end up on the same team, I'll keep an eye on her." Kitsa walked over to her weapon and collapsed it down to its double bit form before putting it in its place on her back. "It was a pleasure to talk with you Miss Rouge. I look forward to taking your class." With that said, Kitsa slowly walked out of the room to see what else she could get into.

Vin settled for offering a smile and a wave as the other student wandered out of her classroom. These were good kids. She was certain that they could make it in this harsh world. Alone once again, she turned to opponent, paperwork. Truly, it would not be so awful if there were slightly less of it. She gave a sigh and sat down to finish it, only to realize a majority of it was completed, save a document or two.

Once that was finished, she realized that she had no idea about her current surroundings. Why not follow everyone else's lead and see the sights a bit. Perhaps, a quick trip around the grounds would do her some good?
