Metropolis, S.T.A.R. Labs

The folly of man, as always, has been his unquenchable desire for knowledge. Truly, it can be said, that knowledge is perhaps the most valuable of commodities that one can have. It has lead to innovation, it has lead to enlightenment, it has lead to atrocities and horrors unseen. It has lead to a great many things. But as with everything else of value, there of course lies the controversy. Humanity has only ever been happy when sated within blissful ignorance.

When the humans of the world had discovered extra-terrestrial beings such as the Martian Manhunter and Superman, it was of course met with both awe and horror in equal measure. No longer could it be said, that mankind was alone in this universe. It brought into questio
n the matter of faith, and its validity. But of course it brought with it fear and paranoia. For if mankind was in fact not alone in this universe, what other species were out there? How advance were they in comparison? Were they god-like beings with the strength to shatter mountains or so fast that they could capture bullets mid-projection? Were there more like Superman? Or perhaps were there some that did not share the Kryptonian's fondness for humanity.

Such fears of course lead to less than morally correct experimentation, such as the scientific field of cloning. Of which, S.T.A.R.S Lab, Metropolis Branch was well versed , thanks in part to recent funding and aid from Lexcorp. As such, with the blessings of higher authorities within the American Government, a project was put into effect. Project X.

Subject B-Zero awoke from his dazed slumber once more, the third such time this cycle. The cracked pale skinned figure turned his head from side to side, or at least tried to. The restraints that held it, or him, he should say for he was sure he was male, did not allow him much movement. Nor did the strange blue lights in the room grant him much sight. The blue lights for that matter, actually made him tired, and he felt drained underneath their harsh gaze. He could hear faint voices in the background. With what little sight he had, he could see two men garbed in white lab suits, hidden by a sheet of glass.

This was not the first time, he had seen or heard them, he was still not sure who they were, or who he was for that matter. Only that they referred to him as Bizarro. The pale white figure laid about the table, restrained underneath the harsh gaze of blue kryptonite lamps was not aware that they were actually calling him Subject B-Zero. Nor was he aware that despite having the body of a full grown man, he was perhaps only 6 years old.

"Why does it's look like his skin is breaking apart?" Captain Saurcic turned to his host, Professor Hanson, expecting an answer."And it's a clone. Shouldn't it look more like Superman?" He added, his disappointment in the project thus far evident.

"Subject B-Zero is a male, Captain, no need to refer to him as though he were some beast." Professor Hanson corrected the army officer. Unlike the captain, she was more than satisfied with Subject B-Zero." He has several flaws in his genetics, such as the structure of his skin."

"Flaws? Is he stable? Do we need to worry about him breaking down mid-flight or for that matter...mid-fight?"The Captain asked, his priorities obvious. To him, Subject B-Zero was simply a weapon and nothing more, but to Professor Hanson, he was so much more.

"It is hard to say, his growth rate in the last six years has been exponential, his aging seems to have stopped and he has yet to show any signs of degeneration. But that's not the real question you have for me is it?" She inquired, knowing as she had always known, where this conversation would eventually lead.

"When will he be combat ready?"

"A week? Two Weeks? That's how long the mental conditioning will take. Afterwards, we can start our work on the next project."

(Feel free to make a few casual post, the action will shortly commence.)
