IT'S BACK AND I'M EXCITED AND GOING TO SHARE.
Bootleg recordings of Les Miserables that were taken down but have now been put back up. Ramin Karimloo (he's Canadian! yay!) plays a ******** awesome Jean Valjean and I would give the blood from my veins to see this performance. Of the songs that have been uploaded, my two favourites have got to be
Valjean's Soliloquy and
The Confrontation.
-This is the only version of Valjean's Soliloquy I actually like. Colm Wilkinson is my fave Valjean but it's his worst song, Alfie Boe can sing anything but I don't love it, and, shockingly, I have to grudgingly admit Hugh Jackman wasn't too bad with this one. Still, Ramin nails it.
- I love how the lights cut out as soon as he tears up his yellow passport. V. dramatic.
- Will Swenson plays Javert here and does a fairly good job, I think. I'm pretty harsh on Javerts though because he's my favourite character and no one will ever be as good as Philip Quast.
- Holy s**t am I ever impressed that they can run around like that and still sing perfectly.
- The Confrontation is one of my favourite songs because it is this song that moved me from 'this is interesting' to 'oh my god I have to know what happens next'.
There was a recording of The Runaway Cart which was just the BEST version of that I have ever seen. The equivalent scene in the book is incredibly tense and Will Swenson captured that atmosphere perfectly. Sadly, the video hasn't been reuploaded.
