B o t a n y + A l c h e m y Plants, Poisons, Medicine
xxx[ D e s c r i p t i o n ] Greensmiting is exactly what it sounds like; it's taking plants and other natural materials and making them in to many things such as poisons and medicine. Most people grow their own ingredients ( each plant has a set growth time ) though what they can grow heavily weights on where they live unless they have been able to afford to buy a greenhouse. How you make poisons or medicine is by combining different plants with different effects; though some of the positive plants might have some negative effects, and vice versa.
xxx[ C l a s s B o n u s e s ] Those of the medical classes have a passive bonus to greensmithing, allowing them to chose one effect from one ingredient without having to roll. This turns to two at Jounin, three at Sannin, and four at Kage. The effects of their poisons and medicines also last for [1] passive post longer, meaning they linger slightly for one post at half strength after the normal limit ends.
xxx[ R a n k i n g ] xxNovice [ Genin start out here ] xxx- Novices are only able to create weak poisons and medicines with one random effect from each of the ingredients. [ Weak poisons/medicines last for 2 posts ] xxx- Novices can only plant and grow plants of their village's biome xxx- Novices can only grow Rank 1 plants ( common, non-endangered ) without help from a higher ranking greensmith
xxApprentice [ Chuunin start out here ] xxx- Apprentices are only able to create normal strength poisons and medicines with one random effect from each of the ingredients [ Normal poisons/medicines last for 3 posts ] xxx- Apprentices can only grow plants of their village's biome xxx- Apprentices can only grow up to Rank 2 plants ( uncommon, non-endangered ) without help from a higher ranking greensmith
xxAdept [ Jounin start out here ] xxx- Adepts can make normal strength poisons and medicines with two random effects from each ingredient [ Normal poisons/medicines last for 3 posts ] xxx- Adept's can grow plants of their village's biome and any similar biomes ( etc; Konoha is deciduous forest, so you'd be able to grow plants from coniferous forest ) xxx- Adepts can grow up to Rank 3 ( Rare, non-endangered ) plants without the help of a higher ranking greensmith
xxExpert [ Konin start out here ] xxx- Experts can make potent poisons and medicines with two random effects from each ingredient [ Potent poisons/medicines last for 4 posts ] xxx- Experts can grow plants of any biome xxx- Experts can grow up to Rank 4 ( Rare, Semi-endangered ) plants
xxDoctor [ Sannin start out here ] xxx- Doctors of Greensmithing can make potent poisons and medicines with three random effects from each ingredient [ Potent poisons/medicines last for 4 posts ] xxx- Doctors of Greensmithing can grow plants of any biome xxx- Doctors can grow up to Rank 5 ( Rare, endangered ) plants
xxGrandmaster [ Kage start out here ] xxx- Grandmasters can create severely potent poisons and medicines with four random effects from each ingredient [ Severely potent poisons/medicines last for 5 posts ] xxx- Grandmasters can grow plants of any bioime xxx- Grandmasters can grow up to Rank 6 ( Rare, severely endangered ) plants
xxx[ L i m i t a t i o n s ] Each rank starts out at a certain title of greensmithing, though you can raise your level depending on how much you work on your smithing. Genin can't go farther than adept, chuunin can't go farther than expert, jounin can't go farther than expert, and konin can go all the way to grandmaster. How to increase your title depends on how much you work at creating things, and how often you do it.
xxx- To get to Apprentice, you must create at least 10 poisons or medicines xxx- To get to Adept, you must create at least 25 poisons or medicines xxx- To get to Expert, you must create at least 45 poisons or medicines xxx- To get to Doctor, you must create at least 70 poisons or medicines xxx- To get to Grandmaster, you must create at least 100 poisons or medicines
xxx[ H o w T o ] You create a poison or medicine by combing two or three ingredients; each ingredient has six effects. These effects will either be negative, positive, or both in some cases. You will roll 2-18 6-sided die, depending on how many ingredients you have. It goes like this:
xxNovice poison: xxx2 6-side die for 2 ingredients with one effect each. xxx1st number is the effect number for the first ingredient xxx2nd number is the effect for the second ingredient
xxGrandmaster Medicine: xxx12 6-sided die for 3 ingredients with four effects each xxx1st number is the 1st ingredient's 1st effect xxx2nd number is the 1st ingredient's 2nd effect xxx3rd number is the 1st ngredient's 3rd effect xxx4th number is the 1st ingredient's 4th effect xxx5th number is the 2nd ingredient's 1st effect xxx6th number is the 2nd ingredient's 2nd effect xxx7th number is the 2nd ingredient's 3rd effect xxx8th number is the 2nd ingredient's 4th effect xxx9th number is the 3rd ingredient's 1st effect xxx10th number is the 3rd ingredient's 2nd effect xxx11th number is the 3rd ingredient's 3rd effect xxx12th number is the 3rd ingredient's 4th effect xxx- Any doubles in effects are removed
xxHow to grow plants: You must find a plant somewhere and harvest it's seeds/bulbs/cuttings and then bring it back to your home or planting area to plant. Keep in mind that it's very unlikely for gennin to get seeds of other biomes since it's very unlikely the kages will allow them out of the village.
