Jason had been assigned to many things, as what typical of being a hunter, but one of the few things he rarely did was pod duty. He never complained, as the pods holding the sleeping people inside were creepy to say the least. But today he was told to go make sure they were all operating properly and to keep watch. The moon hunter sat in a chair adjacent to the pods, keeping himself occupied by reading a book about the human nervous system. Dry, but he hoped the information would come in handy. Every so often he would look up to make sure all the little lights were green and none of them were displaying warnings. As he paused in his reading to stretch and yawn, A quiet beeping began to sound in the room. "W-what?" He jumped up from his chair, rushing to the pod that was making the noise. The lights were all flashing, but none of them were red. Did that mean...

She rarely dreamed. When she did, it was usually of something nebulous, and incomplete. She never saw faces, or heard voices, and most of the time it was just shadows moving in the darkness. She'd grown accustomed to them there, because it was easier to face the darkness when you knew something lived within it. Her time in the pod was incalculable, but when she finally started to wake up, she realized she had been dreaming. Something was chasing her, and it didn't frighten her. She was playing cat and mouse but she enjoyed being the mouse, for once. They played their little game for the extent of her entire dream, until finally, just as she felt it coming to pounce on her and end their fun, the sound of a beeping stirred her from the dream. Her face crunched up in dismay at the inevitable headache. She heard a soft hissing, as the pod that held her began to disengage. She took in a few long inhales, before finally flickering open teal eyes. The pod cover was dark, but she could see through the little window, to the ceiling above. A moment later, the pod unsealed, and the cover slid away. She just laid there, still and silent, as she tried to remember how she'd gotten locked in a pod in the first place. Memories were slow to flood back in, but at least they explained her situation enough to make her inch her head out and look - bad move. There was someone in the room. She put her head back on her pillow, closed her eyes, and feigned sleep.

Holy crap someone was waking upJason was dumbfounded, standing there as the pod hissed, the lid opening up in slow motion. It was a surreal feeling to watch this, as the last time he had seen such a thing was when he was in one of those things. Wow, how long had it been since he had exited his own pod? It was frightening to think about it. 'No...'
The moon hunter stepped closer to the pod, leaning inside to get a good look at the person due to wake up, and was quick to step back.
She...looked familiar. Really familiar. Though he was sure he had never met this girl in his life.
Jason waited for the girl to open her eyes, and when she didn't open them, started to become worried. "Uumm. H-hello?"

s**t. He'd seen her. She lifted her hand automatically to cover her face, lamenting the loss of the mask that she'd put in her bag when she'd packed. She slid her head back over the lip of the pod again, her eyes peering at him through split fingertips, and immediately began to judge his character. Scared. She could feel it coming off of him. She put her hand down, and immediately her expression changed from judgemental, to shy. "Hey." Her voice was surprisingly soft, for someone who looked like they could have taken him in a fight. She barely whispered, and her fingers jutted out from the pod to wiggle shyly over it's lip. "I'm new."

That...was a odd reaction. Jason blinked, confused as to why the girl was covering her face. Perhaps the lights were too bright? She soon lowered her hand, and he caught a brief look of accusation, withing slightly at such a gaze, before her demeanor changed, and he got a good look at her eyes, the eerie sense of deja-vu clicking in. "O-ohh...." He gawked at the girl, knowing full well she was new, and took a moment to look over her form. For someone who hadn't even exited the pod they sure looked capable.
"R-right!" As if remembering what he was supposed to do in these situations. "Would you like some assistance? You've been asleep in that pod for a long time, so you may have a little trouble moving around at first." He then held out his hand for her to take it. "My name is Jason Kenneth, May I ask for yours?"

She took his hand with the one that had been peeking out of the pod, because her legs were jelly and she did need help after all. She stumbled out of the pod, and immediately walked over to sit in the nearest chair, in order to rub her legs down and get the blood flowing in them. "Ana-" She hiccuped, and cleared her throat. "Anastasia Obelyn. What do you mean, for a long time? How long, exactly?" It felt like just a few minutes, to her - but her legs, her swimming head, and her aching body said otherwise. "What year is it?" She hated that she had to ask that. It was so cliche. She stretched her legs out one by one, flexing the heel and then pointing the toe, until the tingles and grogginess began to fade. Immediately, she wanted to go for a run; but by the look on Jason's face, she was not ready for that yet. Her hands checked suddenly to make sure - whew. Her abs were still there. Thank God.

Jason had been ready to support her full weight if it came to it, but thankfully she was able to get to a seat with minimal assistance. "Anastasia...thats a lovely name" He complimented, waiting for her to feel comfortable moving around again. "And, u-uh...I-it may come as a bit of a shock..B-but I believe you've been in there for a few years." He would of asked her to sit down, but she already was. "It's the year 2015." He was also having another sense of deja vu, then remembered when someone told him it was the future and they were all cyborgs. He frowned at the thought, recalling how it took him days to realize it had all been a big fat lie.

Years? Years? Ana lifted her gaze slowly and stared at him, trying to accept this information. That was impossible. Years of her life had just been stolen from her. "Did we age?" She immediately looked for a reflective surface, as if somehow she could have been able to see any age difference of a few years - which she actually could have, if they did age. Her white hair would have been showing some really long, black roots right about now. Sure enough, she looked exactly as she did the day she'd said yes to Deus, and her hair was not even an inch longer. That was a little frightening, but still a relief. 2015 was only a year forward, after all - depending on what month it was. It wasn't as bad as it seemed. She sat back down, and put her head between her hands, as she quietly processed things. After a few moments of silence, she flickered her eyes up at him, and gave him a meek, embarrassed half smile. "It's nice to meet you, Jason." She felt pretty rude to have waited this long to say that. "Are you one of the people working for the organization I signed up for?"

"N-no, I don't believe we age" He assured her, and then had to take a moment to process that himself. Deus Ex could use cryogenics to freeze people, holy s**t. When she sat back down again, he placed a hand upon the back. The poor thing must have been overwhelmed, and she hadn't even learned a fraction of what she was in for. "Nice to meet you too" He showed her a warm smile before nodding to her question. "Yes, I've been working for the...origination for quite a while. Wow, they even told her she was working for someone. All he was told was 'You want some power? sign here'. He sighed, scratching his head while his brain thought things through. "I don't believe there are any orientations scheduled...They p-probably only do them in batches I guess, so I'll tell you as much as I can." "For now...Welcome to Deus Ex, the home of the hunters."

He seemed like such a sweet guy. It conflicted with what she knew of Deus so far, and intrigued her. She thought everyone here was going to be dark, mysterious, hard to the bone. Jason was smiling at her like he really meant it, and patting her back as if she was a friend. She brought one leg up, perching her foot on the edge of the chair so that she could rest her hands on her knee in front of her. Her head tilted to rest on those hands, and she regarded him with a mixture of amusement, and a little sadness. "Okay, Jason. Tell me as much as you can. Like, where do we live? When and where do we train? What facilities are available for keeping in shape? And I guess the big one.. when do we go to work?" As soft spoken as she was, Ana was clearly very prepared to get to work.

Jason wasn't sure how to take the weird looks he was getting, but he was feeling a little important, what being the one with all the knowledge at the moment, so he intended to do a good job of instructing her. Or at least try to. "First of all, our base is located near the Bermuda triangle, where most humans cannot locate us and where it's easiest to travel to the other realms. We have plenty of facilities such a caferteria, classrooms, dormitories, and yes, even training areas.." He laughed awkwardly. "It's more just a large space with wooden dummies. But we do have...uh...special courses...that are sorta like training.... I wouldn't go near them for a while though" He shuddered, memories of darts and waking up in H's room flashing before his eyes. "F-for now, you''ll need to make a visit to the cove to retrieve your weapon, then be sorted into a division before you can access most of the facilities and begin work."

Jason was filled with useful information, and she looked enraptured. She ate it all up like it was everything she'd ever hoped for, her eyes narrowed with content. "I have a few questions. One. You said humans can't locate us. Is there something that can?" Even if he warned her against the training courses, her heart fluttered with excitement. They sounded dangerous. They sounded fantastic. But he continued, and she grinned when he mentioned sorting them into divisions. It sounded a lot like Hogwarts for a second. "Which Division hits hardest?" She had her priorities.

"....Y-yes and no..." The moon hunter appeared troubled, biting his bottom lip in thought. "There are security measures that tend to keep us safe, barriers and the like, b-but there are things that can locate us and do know we are here and sometimes get by them...they're what we are fighting against." His voice lowered as he continued on. "As you may have guessed, you have been able to see...things. Things that shouldn't exist, but they do. Shadows that have a mind of their own, that reach for you and seem to contain frightening creatures inside their depths. This ability to see these things is why you have been chosen to become a hunter, as our sole purpose to protect humanity by getting rid of these monsters." Now, how was he going to explain this... "B-basically these things are creatures made from FEAR....uhhh, a type of energy made from human emotion. When we find something really frightening, we create this FEAR, and in turn we create these creatures. For them to exist, they need to harvest more FEAR, and they do so by scaring us, or even worse...Basically, we're glorified cattle, and they treat us as such." After giving her a brief definition, he felt the mood lighten with her eagerness to be in the strongest division. "Sun, of course," He laughed. "They're the ones who'll lead the charge, specializing in offense. You'll be guaranteed to be fighting things in that one." And why he was glad he wasn't in it. "I will warn you it is the most dangerous, as you'll be the ones on the front lines."

Jason was filled with legitimately useful information, and she looked like she was devouring every word he said. In the span of a few minutes, he'd taught her so much. "I don't much like being treated like cattle." She informed him, a smirk pressing her lips to one side. "But I do like being on the front lines. I think I'm ready to go get sorted." She stood up, and hesitated before holding her hand out. "You're extremely helpful, Jason. I really appreciate all your help. Glad you were here when I woke up - I can't imagine walking into this new world alone." She took one look at the pods, her eyes keenly observing how many bodies were still asleep within them. She wanted to ask so many more questions, but perhaps they needed to wait for another day. She had what she needed to get started. "So where do I head to, next? You said something about a cove?"

"Nether do I..hence why I'm here" He stood up as well, taking her offered hand and offering a kind smile to her praise. "It's no trouble at all. I-i'm just glad I could be of service. I know it must be a lot of things to take in at once." Considering he'd been through it himself. He then nodded at her question. "Y-yes. If you'd like, I can show you where it is. It's basically a large storeroom of sorts, holding all the dormant unpaired weapons. All you have to do is go inside and...uhh...listen and feel for your weapon." He scratched his head, realizing just how weird it must have sounded. "You'll know which one is yours."
