Ai's Kumiko1000/1000 vs. Hatchfield's Zhira900/900 Quote: You will make an introductory post and roll a 100-sided dice during your introductory post. This post is basically you walking onto the stage once more with your Pokemon in a Pokeball or next to you. Then your opponent will do likewise, also rolling a 100-sided dice. Person with the highest roll goes first. HP/Attack bonuses count if your Pokemon has them. Pokemon that cannot evolve any further have 1000 HP. Pokemon that can evolve one more time have 900 HP. Pokemon that can evolve two more times have 800 HP. Now for every attack post, you roll one 6-sided dice which will let your opponent know how to react to your post. 1 = your attack misses, 2-5 = your attack hits for 100 damage, 6 = your attack hits for 200 damage. Even stuff that normally does not do damage - such as growl - will do a kind of unseen damage in that it will hurt your opponent's dignity or whatnot. Super effective/resistance/immunity/whatever do not count. Although please don't say you punch a Ghost Pokemon in the face. That's just not elegant - try to make all attacks seem reasonable and keep beauty/grace/cuteness/etc in mind. Also try to humiliate your opponent if possible - you are making your own Pokemon look good and your opponent's Pokemon look bad! At the end of every post, please include your Pokemon's HP. After 5 posts from both sides (10 posts in total not including the intro posts), time will be called and the battle will end regardless of if a Pokemon has fainted or not. You will be scored on both how much damage you have done, your general performance throughout the battle (so RP your best!), and your creativity throughout the battle. A response post from each side after the 10 damage posts in response to a KO or finished time is allowed to bring the battle to a culmination. Judges will post shortly after to let you know who won. If you do not make a post within 24 hours (subjected to change) of your opponent's last post, you are automatically disqualified and your opponent wins the battle. We will then alert you of your next battle.

Ai was pleased that they had scored high on their appeal, but the battle-- so to speak-- had only begun. The most challenging part would be the battle round. Ai was no trainer and disdained the stadium, so their practice had been limited to attacking dummies, which could only bring them so far. But with a little luck, they would still come out on top.
Ai tossed her head, sending a curtain of flaming red hair over her shoulder as she waited to be called in. She was wearing a new dress, slim and tight-fitting against her slim waist. This dress was a bit more practical than the one she'd worn for the appeals; no ruffles here, though it was still just as elegant. She wanted to appear just as battle-ready as her mew.
At last, their number was called. Ai stepped onto the stage and called in a peppy voice, "Show mew what you've got, Kumiko!" as she tossed the masterball into the air.
The shiny mew did a somersault as he burst free of the ball with a loud, enthusiastic, "MEW!" He was full of energy and ready to play with his opponent.

Hatchford sat on a basic folding chair in one of the side areas. He was still rather giddy from passing the appeal. "You did great, Zhira, but there's more to go," he said as he combed his meowth's fur affectionately.
Zhira simply raised his chin in an 'of course I did great!' gesture, and gave a growl of pleasure.
When the number was called, Hatch stood up sharply, sending Zhira rather unceremoniously to the floor. Goodness, he was still nervous... "Sorry~" he apologized, reaching down to smooth the ruffled feline pokemon. He walked out to his place, Zhira strutting along beside him, and it took him a moment to find his breath. "Okay, Zhira. You've got this!"
Bounding out to his own spot on stage, Zhira spun in a little circle and stood, poised and ready to be amazing.

(( Probably because I didn't post right away X3 Needed a question answered first~ Also, please, please let me know if I do something incorrectly. My first contest, and about as nervous as Hatch! XD ))
With his heart in his throat, Hatch wiped the sweat from his palms onto the thighs of his tan slacks. They were up against the mew? He couldn't help admiring how healthy and bright the legendary pokemon looked before focusing again. "Zhira. You know how to start us off!" Something to get even a starting edge would make him feel a lot better. Heck, maybe the cute growl would affect him as well so that he wouldn't be so nervous!
Tail twitching, completely confident in himself, Zhira walked a little further out onto the stage to close the ground on his feline opponent. He crouched his front end down, rear and tail swaying in the air. A soft, playful growl sounded from deep in his chest. The sweet growl grew louder and clearer as he flopped onto his side and pawed at the air toward the mew, eyes open and clear, trying to look as disarming as possible.

Kumiko beamed when he spotted the growling cat pokemon. It had been quite a long time since he'd faced another pokemon in a battle setting, so he thought of it as more of a game. As such, he appeared energetic, but not nervous. His eyes were bright and focused, and the spotlight reflected off his shiny fur. The noise of the crowd, the bright lights, and the excitement of seeing a new pokemon would have been an overwhelming distraction to him earlier in his life, but the young mew was no longer quite so young; Ai had trained him well, and he had self-control. Therefore, when his trainer spoke, his ears swiveled toward her in rapt attention.
"Kumiko, give them a Reflect Charge!" The made up attack name was something that they had rehearsed especially for this contest.
"Mew!" Kumiko chirruped in acquiescence. He twirled himself through the air before he cupped his forepaws together and blew into them. Like soap bubbles, Reflect shields floated out, forming a straight single-file line between Kumiko and Zhira.
Once they were set up, Kumiko's tail and hindquarters promptly burst into blue flames. He rocketed forward, passing through each Reflect bubble, and leaving a long flame trail behind him. As he passed through each bubble, the flames changed colors until he was leading a fiery rainbow-- red, orange yellow, blue, white, and even flits of green. The light trapped inside each Reflect bubble exploded into brilliant fractals all around the stage.

When he realized his growl wasn't working, Zhira jumped up to his paws and quickly backed away from the encroaching bubbles. He watched the shield intently, ears perking as the light show burst brightly.
Hatch chewed his lip, feeling his inexperience try to distract him. He rolled his shoulders and stood straighter. Zhira was counting on him to remain calm. He had to work with what was available to him, and time it right. "Zhira! Pay Day and Fury Swipes!"
Zhira perked his ears, and leapt into the air with a couple somersaults. A coin appeared in the air, and a quick series of swipes split the large coin into multiple smaller ones. Those coins flew forward from Zhira's swipes, spinning and catching the lights from the mew's fires. The coins shimmered like gems with the different colors, sending little rainbows of light scattering even further around the pair. The last, largest piece of coin was hit to intercept the mew's path exiting the line of bubbles.

"Sunny Break!" Ai shouted, calling another code word attack.
As the mew spiraled through the last bubble, the flames went out. He threw up a fist that glowed powerfully with the light of day. His paw connected with the Pay Day that Zhira had thrown in his way, and it broke into tiny pieces. These pieces sprayed around the room, popping each bubble as well as Zhira's remaining Pay Day coins. At that moment, Kumiko released the orb of light, allowing it to arc its way to the ceiling.
The mew flew to the center of the stage, rotating slowly as the shimmering fragments of Reflect and Pay Day floated slowly down to the floor. The Sunny Day shined a bright spotlight on himself as he smiled and showed off for the crowd.

Hatch gawked slightly. It was always a treat to watch the performances as an audience member, but from here it was even clearer! ..And even more intimidating. He looked back to Zhira. They weren't done yet! "Zhira! Bite and Growl!"
Zhira's tail gave an exasperated twitch, but otherwise his exterior was calm. The command made him perk up again. He darted into the shower of sparkles, and jumped as high up as he could, right under the floating mew. He snapped his teeth loudly to show the toughness of the move, making sure he bit just short of the mew's tail for the show. Then he growled sweetly, disposition instantly changing into a more playful one, reaching to bat lightly at the tail he'd pretended to bite at before dropping back to the ground.

"Your tail-- Sunny Day!" Ai said.
The light above Kumiko's head went out, and the bulbous tip of his tail began to glow white instead. Directly above Zhira's head, her bite and growl movements cast long shadows on all sides of the stadium. Kumiko put on a bit of a show, turning to each shadow and pretending it was some great enemy. He puffed out his chest and narrowed his eyes in determination, throwing a glowing Sunny Day at each feigned opponent. When the light hit each wall, the shadow there vanished.
Finally, Kumiko's tail went out, erasing the last of the shadows; he was once again doused in the light of day so that he was clear from every angle in the audience-- and the judge's panel.

Hatch winced as the last move proved to be as ineffective as the previous attempt. It looked nice, but the mew was clearly unfazed. "Play with Pay Day," he called.
Zhira crouched down, and a coin a bit larger than himself popped up before him, standing on end. He pawed at the coin, making it spin in place. It spun faster and faster, glittering in the light.
"Swipe it!"
With a slash of his paw, the large coin split into two. The original kept spinning while he swatted at the new half before it even hit the ground, setting it to spin alongside the first. He repeated this until he had a line of coins spinning simultaneously. Darting to one end, he then charged at the line, slashing each coin into what was more glitter than coin, leaving a golden path in his wake.

Kumiko had been doing really well ignoring his opponent's attacks, but at the sight of the coins, he was clearly distracted. Ai had to bring him back before the young mew completely lost his focus.
"Flame Charge, burning style!"
Kumiko snapped his head back to attention. When his tail burst into flames again, he twirled himself around with a flourish, whipping his tail down onto the golden trail Zhira had left behind. The dust caught fire, spreading blue flames along the line that Zhira had taken. Kumiko then dove above the flames; on the first pass, his wind only made the flames grow higher. However, on the second pass he went faster and managed to snuff them out.
As he approached the wall of the stage, he did a somersault and spun to a halt just short of smacking into it. He then flew in loop-the-loops back to the center of the stage and sat up with his arms spread wide.

Zhira was pleased to see the mew wasn't completely stoic to his moves. Still, the mew was quickly drawn back into the game and focused. Miffed that he couldn't think of a quick follow-up, he turned his back to the Mew in a very clear snub, paws kneading the ground to muffle his irritation.
Hatch sighed softly. He had the feeling that this wasn't going to end in their favor. Watching Zhira's antics, he had to repress the urge to smack his hand against his face. That wasn't very graceful of the feline... "Zhira! Finish up!"
Zhira tossed Hatch a scathing look, but still turned back to face the mew again. Well, he did have a show to finish. Shaking out his fur, he crouched and used Growl like he had in the beginning, tail swaying and twitching excitedly. He ran forward, eyes locked on the mew. He skid to a halt right before the mew, growled again, and reached out a paw to tap the mew's nose~

Kumiko stuck his tongue out when the smaller cat tapped his nose. His tail waved excitedly, and he looked as if she was going to take Zhira up on her invitation to play, right there on the stage.
Ai sighed in frustration; Kumiko still needed to work on his ability to focus. She had to get him back on task and finish the performance battle quickly. "Reflect!" she commanded.
Kumiko sadly obeyed. He created an enormous Reflect bubble around himself and floated up in the air so that he was clearly visible from all sides of the stage. He popped the bubble and then began spinning in a circle. At every rotation he sent a different mirror-like Reflect to a different part on the stage, until he was completely surrounded by mirrors that showed him off at every angle. He twirled around for a moment simply to show off, then bowed deeply as the mirrors shattered themselves into dust.

Hatch smiled lightly. Zhira might be a bit uppity, but he sure was cute when he wanted to be. His brow knit as the mew lit up with Reflect, his eyes on Zhira. Would this be another distraction?
Zhira's ears perked as the bubble grew, watching the mew rise up in the air. Rather than being distracted though, he purred and licked a paw until the mirrors turned to dust, and the buzzer chimed to show the end of the battle. He walked through the falling dust so that he was covered in the shiny material just for the fun of it. Then he faced the mew, gave a gracious, sweet bow, and bounded back to Hatch, leaving another trail of shimmering dust in his wake.
Hatch laughed and held out his arms so that Zhira could jump up into them. "Good job, Zhira. Not bad for a first time, right?" he cooed, brushing the dust from his pokemon's fur.
"Meowth!" Zhira exclaimed confidently. Despite a few irritations, he'd really had fun!
Hatch laughed again, waved a fare-well to his opponent, and headed off the stage to await the scores.
