It was a calm, quiet sort of morning, one that would bring Merikh out on a walk with the younger of his two personal assassin bodyguards named Patreen. Yolana, much to his surprise, had left Patreen in full control of his protection having been called in my Merikh's mothers to chat about renewing her contract. It wasn't as though she guarded him these days only for the money but as he got older the threats against him were getting a bit more dangerous. Not that he was worried per say, they wouldn't be so brave as to make another attempt on his life, at least not in the middle of the rich section of the city. No, they'd wait for him to go out hunting either by himself or in a smaller group then he tended to travel with these days. Still, given that Patreen was an adept it meant that they may just try their hand at an attack. Looking over at the masked young man that was walking alongside him. He gave him a smile, lifting a hand to ruffle his hair, then said, "We are going to need to keep our guard up today since it's just the two of us. I would like to believe that those so hellbent on killing me wouldn't be so stupid as to try in the middle of the city but one never can tell." There were a lot of fools in the world after all and in an attempt to save money they might hire thugs instead of more expensive assassins like they had last time. He had a feeling that it probably hadn't gone over well that the last attempt on his life had not only failed but caused the hired killers to their lives instead. Lowering his hand to his side again he started forward once more, a smile ever present on his lips, "I think today that we are going to head to the blacksmith, get our weapons sharpened, and have them ready for whatever might appear before us next." Be it dragons or assassins he wanted to be ready. (( Sorry for taking a bit to get this set up, I got a little sick. ^_^;; ))

A calm, quiet morning usually had a soothing effect on Vesper. Not today, though.
Overconfident in his skill with the chakram, her visiting cousin Eosphoros delighted on showing off trick after trick. He botched the majority of them, but his enthusiasm persisted undimmed. It was a small mercy that the outer edge of the weapon was blunted for practice, she supposed, but getting clipped by a metal hoop, however accidentally, still hurt. She knew that for a fact.
After a few collisions against hapless walls and furniture, the long-suffering practice chakram bore numerous dents and scratches along its body. So of course she had to accompany the boy to the blacksmith's for repairs. Even now, he kept twirling the chakram on an index finger and hijacking the conversation to boast.
Vesper was quite fed up by the time she sat down at the edge of a fountain for a moment's rest. The walk to the blacksmith felt endless. She stared into the distance until she noticed an uncharacteristic silence on her cousin's part.
She stood and looked over at Eosphoros, who was standing on the fountain's edge. The chakram was nowhere to be seen. Good riddance.
But where had it gone?
"Eo--" She broke off as she followed his horrified gaze to the flying chakram. Currently some distance away, it was getting farther away with each passing second. Despite his lack of finesse, Eosphoros was strong. To her growing dismay, though, it was sailing over the heads of passers-by toward... toward an Oblivionite warrior and his younger masked companion, if she'd judged the trajectory correctly.
"Watch out!" she cried out, but she feared that the warning was too little, too late.
She heard the patter of running feet moving in the opposite direction as the chakram. Her cousin was vanishing into the distance, leaving her alone to face the coming wrath. Of course. And the guilt-stricken stare she turned on the soon-to-be victims was soooo not going to help her case.
((Thank you for starting, and hope you get better quickly!))

Patreen felt this was going to be a good day. He was out with his Master, looking up to the bigger male. Though the youth did sense that he was ever so closer to his Master in height, it was still something that he felt he would never reach if only due to the difference the two seem to hold. Their basic color scheme seemed to be dark and light. His Master was eye catching, one glance around could tell you that. The youth was blushing beneath his mask as he felt the older male ruffle his hair. He leaned only slighly into the touch before nodding. "Mmm. You won't have to worry, Master. I'm here. I won't let anything hurt you." Just as those words left his mouth the youth heard the whirl of a weapon. Turning sharply he easily leapt forward to block the chakram. His wrist getting cut in the process didn't cross his mind as his trained eye narrowed on the small female it seemed to come from. If Merikh didn't stop him the rash youth might of sent the chakram right back at her.

Merikh heard a small voice calling out for the two of them to 'watch out' a moment before Patreen was moving to block a chakram that had been tossed carelessly their way. He watched the weapon clatter away, then looked toward, Patreen, giving a tsking sound. There was blood there, something that could see and smell, and it caused him to shake his head before catching hold of the boy by his shoulder to keep him from charging forward, "I am glad that you are so willing to throw yourself into harm's way for me, Reeny, but if you continue to do that you will end up wounded and unable to properly protect me." He said, giving a little shake of his head as he took off the sash he wore, wrapping Reeny's wounded wrist tightly so that he wouldn't risk bleeding out. Turning his attention then to the girl that had, presumably, tossed the weapon he started toward her. As he went he swept up the weapon, giving it a once over, before he came to stand before her, "You really should be careful with this sort of thing. The last thing you want is to throw it at someone who might not be nearly as forgiving as I am." Someone like Reeny for instance, though he didn't say that out loud since he didn't want to scare the girl. She already appeared rather upset over the incident, a guilty look about her. The last thing he wanted to do was make it worse. Holding the weapon out he suggested to her in a kind, though stern tone of voice, "You should consider finding a less crowded place to practice."
