Activity Ping Subforum

The Activity Ping Subforum was an idea we tried to implement but unfortunately did not use properly. This time around we are going to make sure that we can utilize the potential of the Activity Ping Subforum Properly.

The easiest way to explain this subforum would be in a FAQ like manner where we answer the questions that are likely to arise thanks to this new forum and then explain the three different types of pings that we are using as of now. The system does have the potential to evolve and we want it to; so it might be good to keep your eyes peeled and ear to the ground when it comes to Pings.

Q1. What are Activity Pings?
A: Activity Pings are posts in this topic that alert people to certain things going on within the Guild or needed/ wanted by other roleplayers. There are three different types of Pings which will be explained later. I got the idea from League of Legends where you can "Ping" different areas of the map with different types of pings to bring them to your team's attention.

Q2. So how do these things work?
A: Any member can post a ping in this subforum. That's important. You can only post pings in this subforum. It's not a mod only thing or a member only thing; it's a service everyone may use to help them advance in the roleplay.

Q3. There are three different types of Pings?
A: Yeah. Each one has its own format skeleton, color coding and format that it needs to be posted in to distinguish it from other types of pings. They will be posted below as coding with examples too. The current Ping Set that we have are: Ideas, Request and Alerts. We may add more in time.

Q4. Is there anything else we should know?
A: I don't think so, if you look below this in the Document Post labeled "Ping Skeletons and Explanations" everything else should be covered in there.

Ping Skeletons and Explanations

So, here's where all the fun begins! Here are the skeletons and explanations for our current three ping system. If more are added, they shall also be added where and when appropriate.

Ping Type One: Alerts
Alert Pings are probably going to be the most used types of Pings. These pings will be posted in the Post Style: SHOUT and color coded black and red. They will contain information about activity in a certain place within the guild and draw more people to that area. So, for example, if you were a villain and were bored of plotting and scheming you could throw an alert ping out that you were about to rob a bank or something. Heroes could also use alert pings to call for help if they were struggling against a bunch of villains.

These pings will not be excuses for excessive ganging up though! If I see 15 people reply to one ping, we will be having to have a chat about who will and won't be leaving the situation.

* Please note that you may add more details to an alert ping if you wish about the situation. You may want to say there is a fight or a robbery in progress etc. As long as you keep to the colour scheme that's fine.

Ping Type Two: Requests
Request Pings are ways to get peeople talking to one and other. Sometimes people can end up just RPing with the same people or clique and that's boring. It often leads to RPs becoming stale and unmoving. So, using a request ping you can ask to RP with someone or a certain character. Obviously, you can be refused but you don't succeed unless you try right?

These Pings should be posted in the default Post Style: SAY and use the colours black and indigo. An example can be seen below:
