:: Custom Ability Request ::

This is the thread where you spend your Custom Ability Points (referred to as CAPs from now on) to acquire or enhance Custom Abilities for your characters. Follow the rules and the templates below and a member of the Crew should have a look at it when they have time. If you have any questions, please post it in the Questions topic in the Main Forum.

:: Basic Info ::

• Custom Abilities cannot affect things (Characters, terrain, etc) outside of the Area which your Character is currently in.

• There are no absolutes. Everything must have some sort of limit on power or ability. Limits come in many forms but you have to limit your ability in some way.

• Almost all techniques which have an effect someone else's character will need a resistance; something that the other character can do to avoid the technique of break free from its effect. There are rare exceptions, but these will be few and far between and determined on a case by case basis.

• Just because you have two approvals doesn't mean that a Custom cant be revoked. A different member of the Crew can raise an issue for the custom or one of the Crew that initially approved it can revoke their approval. Custom abilities are subject to revocation at any time if an issue is found with them.

• Reiatsu cannot be used in any way in a custom ability. All mentions to effect must use the 5 main stats (Speed, Strength, Defense, Stamina and Spirit).

• Rules are subject to change.

:: General Rules ::

• You receive 1 CAP every 20 Reiatsu. (some classes get "free" CAPs to spend on abilities as a class reward)

• You can only have 1 Buff or Nerf activated at a time. If you wish to switch, you have to stop using your current one, wait for the cool-down to expire and then activate the other one.

• Only items purchased with Ryo and Fighting Styles can passively boost stats. All other stat increased must be activated during a fight.

• New stats can not be created unless there is a VERY good reasoning for doing so. If you ask to create a new stat through a custom, expect it to be denied.

• Custom abilities can affect other characters, whether they are allies, enemies or neutral, but they can not be shared with other characters. Meaning you can create an ability that creates a bubble shield that could protect an ally if they stand in the bubble, but you couldn't have a custom ability where you ally could choose to create their own bubble shield.

NOTE 1
Abilities listed in firebrick and with ** next to their names are base abilities. Meaning you can not add these to an already existing custom ability and they must start as a brand new custom ability.

NOTE 2
The CAP values listed below aren't the only options, they are only suggestions of ones to pick. If you have an ability or an effect that isn't shown below, you can ask for it and we can work out an appropriate CAP value for it.

1 CAP effects
Base Ability **
Description: This is simply a basic ability which all custom abilities must start from. It's a basic action or effect with no modified values.
Cost: Varies.
Duration: Varies.
Cool-Down: Varies.
Example: Johnny shoots a fireball with a power of Spirit and that travels at his Speed.


Plus
Description: Adds +10 to a stat for a single use custom ability.
Adds: +1 to the cost.
Example: Johnny's fireball now shoots with a power of Spirit +10 and a speed of Speed.


Technique Mastery **
Description: This is a base ability where your character gains mastery of a class technique, adding +5 per CAP spent on this effect.
Cost: +1 to the cost, even if the cost was 0 before.
Example: Flash Step (normally SPD +10) now moves at SPD +15.


Healing I**
Description: Heals the user or another target in physical contact with the user. This level of healing is able to heal wounds up to [Medium].
Cost: Taken from Stamina or Spirit: 5 [Minor Wounds], 10 [Medium Wounds]
Cool-Down: 3 Gaia Posts.
Example: John heals a deep cut on Jake's arm at the cost of 10 Sta.



2 CAP effects
Buff **
Description: Adds +5 to a stat
Cost: 2 from Stamina or Spirit per turn its activated.
Duration: 3 Gaia posts.
Cool-Down: 5 Gaia posts.
Example: Johnny hardens his skin and buffs his Defense by +5 for 3 posts.


Minus
Description: Adds -10 to an effect for a single use custom ability.
Adds: +1 to the cost.
Example: Johnny's flame shield reduces the power of an attack by -10 before blocking it.


Healing II**
Description: Heals the user or another target in physical contact with the user. This level of healing is able to heal wounds up to [Major].
Cost: Taken from Stamina or Spirit: 5 [Minor Wounds], 10 [Medium Wounds], 25 [Major Wounds]
Cool-Down: 3 Gaia Posts.
Example: John heals the severe burns and gashes all over Jake's body at the cost of 25 Sta.



3 CAP effects
Nerf **
Description: Reduces an enemy's stat by -5.
Cost: 2 from Stamina or Spirit per turn its activated.
Duration: 2 Gaia Posts.
Cool-Down: 5 Gaia Posts.
Example: Johnny's heat wave reduces the enemy's Speed by -5 for 2 posts.


Duration
Description: +1 Gaia Post to the duration of a non-instant ability.
Adds: +2 to the cost
Example: Johnny hardens his skin and buffs his Defense by +5 for 4 posts.


Healing III**
Description: Heals the user or another target in physical contact with the user. This level of healing is able to heal wounds up to [Limbs].
Cost: Taken from Stamina or Spirit: 5 [Minor Wounds], 10 [Medium Wounds], 25 [Major Wounds], 50 [Muscle/Bone], 75 [Limbs]
Cool-Down: 3 Gaia Posts.
Example: John heals Jake's severed arm at the cost of 75 Sta.



4 CAP effects
Binding**
Description: A technique that binds another character in place. The character using the ability must overcome a stat vs stat comparison for the binding to be successful. They must also include a stat used as a resistance to allow the target to break free from the binding.
Cost: Taken from Stamina or Spirit. Cost varies based on target's class: 5 for Base class, 10 for Upgraded class and 25 for Prestige class.
Duration: 1 Gaia Post.
Cool-Down: 5 Gaia Posts (can not be used within 2 gaia posts of another binding ability).
Example: Ivy creates vines with a resistance of her Spirit. The vines wrap themselves around the target as long as her Speed is higher than the target's Speed. The target can break free from the vines if their Strength is higher than the resistance of the vines (in this example, Ivy's Spirit).


Healing IV**
Description: Heals the user or another target in physical contact with the user. This level of healing is able to heal wounds up to [Organs], but can not the brain or a severed head.
Cost: Taken from Stamina or Spirit: 5 [Minor Wounds], 10 [Medium Wounds], 25 [Major Wounds], 50 [Muscle/Bone], 75 [Limbs], 100 [Organs]
Cool-Down: 3 Gaia Posts.
Example: John heals Jake's punctured lung at the cost of 100 Sta.
