Biography

Sandra doesn't know too much about how she came to be in this world... she doesn't know who her parents were or why the chose to bring her to life. She doesn't know why she was deposited at the door of a church with a large tome of secrets. She doesn't know why bad things have been happening to her throughout her childhood to people that have been close to her. There are many things which she doesn't know... however, there are many things she does know. She does know that the tome that was entrusted to her as a child, that no one else seems to be able to read, holds many secrets about people, power and the spirit world. She does know that those that threaten to harm her always change their minds... if they live long enough to get the opportunity. She does know that there are beings beyond the mortal veil that she can sense... and that can also sense her. Sandra has spend her life gaining more knowledge of the world around her and unlocking secrets of the spiritual world. Her tome is special in a way that even Sandra herself doesn't fully understand yet, but she is confident that she will have her answers if she keeps searching.

"Things have gotten out of hand," is what a lot of people have been saying. A few people target stat whores but that's not the real problem. Not in my opinion. If people could play their stat builds in a certain way they could make anything excessively powerful. Balanced characters stand to gain more from stats which add to other stats, but no one ever really thinks of that. Either way it doesn't matter much because as I said it's not the real issue.

It seems that what most people really want is a better definition of stats and booster issues. Something that says you can only do certain things with certain stats. That is what I am most willing to listen to and really try to change. It's going to be hell, there is no ******** doubt in my mind about that. The other revamp was less extreme and it was horrible in its own way. Its also going to be a lot of work, Customs are going to get a lock more complicated and tricky instead of the other way around like people seem to think. Because every effect is going to have to be checked against the stats it falls under and what is done with it.

If we do a full Customs wipe... I dont know but I think I'd end up slitting my wrists. Because again, just being honest. But the majority of them will end up getting looked at by me and Solo and maybe a couple others randomly. But for the most part Solo and I will get to deal with all the Customs coming back. Even limiting the rate at which Customs are gained [which is frankly, in my mind, a horrid idea] it's not going to be easy.

As for HP, I hate the idea of having to micro-manage members to that extent. It really just... doesn't work for me. Sure increase the necessity of Stamina if you like but dont create another stat to deal with. We are trying to consolidate the purposes of stats not spread them out into more...

As for boosters, I dunno what to say. I haven't always been the best about that, I ******** know it. Its a game to me, I get enjoyment out of finding new things to do with the system. And I've probably pushed way too far and for that I'd lie if I said I was sorry. Cause I had fun, but I am sorry that it effected the Guild negatively. And Im willing to give that up if it means that Bleach: Elites goes back to being half as chill as it use to be before everyone started bitching about boosters so much.

Another thing. I've put a lot of time and energy into this Guild. There's a reason Aiden is powerful, its because I worked to get him to that Reiatsu and worked on his Customs and sat around and thought up new ways to do what I wanted to do. Then I took what I learned and applied it to all my other characters. My people are strong and I do Customs that are powerful simply because I do Customs more than any other person in the Guild. In fact you could probably take any other two people and between their combined characters vs my characters I'd have more Customs.

It really does actually make me a little sick to think that all the time I put into this was wasted. That I build up something great with the best possible materials available to me and now friends who watched it get built decided that suddenly it was time to tear it down and start over... but this time I dont get the tools or materials. It kind of sucks. And Im willing to see it through because its what the majority seems to want. But I'm not happy with it and I dont know what Ill do when its done. I'm not sure Ill be around after its all resolved.

I blame me the most since the idea of doubling a stat was unheard of in Nyu's time as VC and which was ludicrous at the time due the amount of powerplay that could have happened..

and now 2 years later..

you see why..

that one little approval.. led to a big guild discussion on builds in general..

I believe it's plausible if not borderline insane..

but it goes to where you would allow people to do things within limits..

like we used to.. KEYWORD used to, since if I remember correctly the first Tournament was heavily based on RPing and barely on power and stats..

that is what he is probably trying to get at, but...

you're all so heavily focused on trying to find a way to cope with it.

Remove it and see how far you get before saying it's impossible.

Mkay we need some order here because the conversation is degrading and its getting no where and absolutely nothing will change if it happens like that. One person at a time is going to propose the change to the Guild System. And I dont give a flying panda about Customs, we're not talking about that. I want to know the changes to the system that you feel would benefit the Guild.

Nat please go first since I thought that was one of the most plausible. Then I would like constructive criticism from everyone. If you dont comment on it directly than you dont really need to be posting your own ideas/thoughts here. We need focused contribution not everyone just shouting out what they think is relevant. So Nat please when you are ready, and everyone else lets just focus please.

Simple: stop custom use for a month and you're basically stopping guild activity for a month. No one will want to fight with no customs, and with no fighting most of the guild won't RP. With most of the guild not RPing, people won't really bother showing up. Not that many people seem to be on anymore anyways...

Also, you'd need to have mods be online and doing the work more often. I really think that if the mods hunkered down and concentrated on customs, it wouldn't take too long. Of course, they'd have to take a break once in a while too (I almost drove my eyes to bleed with all the text I read during that first revamp... crying ).

Also, it seems like this is more a convenience problem as well. It doesn't seem like anyone other than a few want to make the 'big' changes. It seemed like people were only looking for a small quick fix where a few words would change, maybe a dozen customs to do and bam, better guild.

Gold and others have taken pot shots at Aiden for a while in this thread and in the OOC. Im getting bored with it, admittedly my characters have the best mastery of the current system to the point of knowing how to bend it to the breaking point hence me working to try and fix some things.

And I dont necessarily agree with that. FS should be their own thing, boosts to them count as boosts, but the raw FS is its own type of ability. Passive and New Base both are boosts and should be treated as such.

Of course it won't, because the people with the most to lose are mostly mods and people that abuse the rules of their characters. Hell, the people with the customs that abuse the system the most are almost all mods, doesn't that tell you something?

Usually, when an official responsible for taking care of a set of rules and making sure they are upheld isn't supposed to abuse loopholes when they are discovered, they are supposed to work to fix or eliminate these loopholes. You know how bad we were on Rednal for the abuse that he's done? Well, in this guild and the current system, he'd be considered a god and revered as 'clever' for finding and abusing these loopholes. Also, this isn't a problem that has just happened recently, but it's not one that has always been there. The potential for the problem was always present, that's just one of the many flaws the system had, BUT the members and mods didn't go out of their way to find and abuse those flaws. It's only when Rednal came and started abusing them that the rules changed to stop him from doing so. So, what happens when the mods are the ones that abuse those rules? Nothing at all. In fact, it's essentially forced upon others to follow that abuse, because it's a "well, I can do it, so everyone else can and should". This system will now and always favor the stat whores and the people that abuse the system in every way, shape and form. And the worst of it? When a custom is approved that is already pushing the limit, what happens? You see someone else with that exact same custom, lower cost, longer duration and lower cool-down.

And please don't tell me that 'balanced characters will always have an advantage over stat whores because of their diverse stats and customs'. Having most of your stats higher than those of a stat whore does nothing when they can simply make a technique that compares their natural highest stat against that of the enemy and essentially negate anything the person can and will try unless it's higher, which it will never be.

No matter what is done, if there was only one thing that this topic changes, it should be that stats can not, BY ANY MEANS, EVER be more than x100 their natural stats. If a stat whore wants to have 2000 in one stats and 5 in all the others, fine. Then the max they can have in their other stats is 500. Hell, if it were me, I'd say x50 instead, but I know that most of the people that abuse this part of the system are either all mods or people with strong characters and that will basically never even be considered.



It's come to the point that it actually encourages people like Rednal, looking at every rule and every custom and think "Well, X person abused it this way... now, how can I take that and abuse it even further?..."

Im never going to stand for a a reset of stats. I've been here for years, longer than most of the current Mods and Members. I've worked hard for what I have and I dont feel like giving it up will solve anything.

I think the idea of asking everyone to start over will in fact alienate people more than draw them together. People with powerful characters will resent being made to give up their hard earned characters while weaker people will be confused at why they had to start all over after barely beginning. Its not going to happen though.

This topic isn't dead, just because it doesn't get posted in every day doesn't mean the Mods have turned their backs on it. Right now we are trying to break it down into more workable pieces. In fact Shadow and I are trying to organize what to work on first, so that it can be done in segments and introduced one at a time to the Guild to ease the transition.
