The Roofs of Beacon

While it's not preferred, it's not against the rules to visit the roof, though the doors are typically locked at night for the safety of those within the academy. It's become a somewhat popular location for some students as a means of escape, or relaxation during their free time.

Skipping classes by hiding on the roof is not recommended as this will be the first place the instructors will look.

(Sorry for outright making this, however I noticed a distinct lack of anime trope known as "Flee to the roof!" lol)

LINQ

User Image

LINQ had decided to go up to the roof, purely out of curiosity. The android was still trying to get used to the layout of the academy, and he had not been up here yet. He had also heard that this was a popular spot for students to socialize and relax, for reasons he couldn't figure out at the time. From his experience as a police robot, rooftops were often settings for grim and unsettling events, most of them involving gravity and high places. There were some things he'd never understand about organics.

Semblances:

Ice in the Veins: Body temperature permanently below freezing.
Grants immunity to all cold elements and unparalleled control over ice.
Weakness to fire and extreme heats.

Permafrost: Flash freezes the target, encasing it in ice for a duration of roughly three minutes.
Enhanced by the staff grants it a 20 foot range but reduces duration to 1 minute.
Extreme heat and great strength can shatter the frozen effect early.

Never one to miss floating about the campus for opportunities to prank people, along with the concept of disliking the warm indoors; Johann floated towards the roofs with the intention of relaxing silently and staring up at the sky. He wasn't quite certain the time, but he didn't seem to mind as the air was brisk and held a slight chill to it. Of course to Johann and his body being below freezing, this was much to his liking. He'd finished making it snow in the library, chastised for it as he fled, then returned but an hour later and did so again for good measure. Their faces were priceless, they were merely lucky that the shelves protected the books fairly well, but had their been a wind through the room, there'd been drifts piled up against the shelving.

So, with that little bit of playful moment behind him, he decided it best to relax for a bit and mayhaps finally go down and see what the dorm room was like. Possibly poke fun at the minotaur, a concept he'd been thinking of how best to do since he first set eyes on him. The idea of pinning a tail to him was cruel, and potentially painful, that was out of the question. However if he painted his backside while asleep, would he even notice? Could he notice? That could be amusing. His pranks were at times somewhat cruel but never really inflicted harm in doing so. However he was all too distracted in thoughts on how to prank his newest compatriots that he hardly noticed the mechanical form tread out from the stairwell.

Hardly. Not the same as "didn't". Any form of thermal detection which Linq may have had wouldn't have picked up Johann given his lack of body heat. Without moving from his seat, he stuck his tongue out and grinned, his bracelet expanding into the staff before spinning it in hand. He pointed it straight towards Linq and with a soft "twack" he was pelted in the back with several snowballs before Johann rolled backwards off the stairwell roof out of sight before Linq could turn around. Using his tried and true means of misdirection, a very important part of pranking, he threw his voice from the the opposite direction the moment Linq turned around to investigate. "Where ya lookin'?"

LINQ

User Image

LINQ noticed the impact of the snowballs against his back, but given that he was a machine, it didn't really bother him. It took a moment for the android to begin scanning for the sound of the voice. Thermal sensors were apparently not working, so he switched to sonar. He detected one organic...and a very cold one, apparently. LINQ turned in the direction of the heartbeat, no emotion on his face. "Identify yourself." He said simply. This didn't really count as assaulting an officer, but it was still kind of annoying. Humans were odd creatures, but Ozpin told the android that understanding them would help in LINQ's future.

Barely any reaction. He'd hoped for more, maybe even for the person to have some sort of temper tantrum or the like. However as he hid there and Linq demanded for him to identify himself he cracked a smirk and leaned against the wall remaining out of sight. Gently tapping the crystal orb of his staff upon his shoulder as she spoke. "What reason do I have to identify myself to a toaster?" He asked, having taken note of the distinctly mechanical form and mannerisms which he spoke.

Finally he calmly walked out from around the corner, spinning his staff in hand smirking as he summed up Linq and if he'd be fun to mess with further or not. Of course he wasn't particularly looking for a fight, but it might prove entertaining if he could coax him into it. That aside, he'd several more pranks he could pull on this person, even if he could see him. His favorite was to bury someone in a pile of snow, given his control over water particles and crafting them into ice. He stopped moving, yet continued to spin his staff as his side, watching Linq before smirking and pointing up. Whether or not he actually fell for it, a massive pile of snow fell upon Linq, burying him entirely as Johann had been using his staff to manipulate the air above him the entire time he had been spinning it.

Johann broke out laughing quite jovially, tapping the butt end of his staff upon the tile as he did so. ♫ "~Well the weather outside is frightful~" ♫ He sang the words softly before lifting the staff and tapping it upon his shoulder. "Lookin' a might bit frosty there friend." He snickered as he calmly watched the snow pile.

After a quick moment of digging, LINQ managed to get out from under the snowdrift that the young man made. Brushing the frozen water off his jacket, he was lucky his circuits were waterproof. He didn't seem phased by this at all, though. "I am not sure if that counts as assaulting an officer, but I would advise not testing those boundaries." The Inquisitor said calmly. Granted, he didn't have full officer status yet, but he was a Military Police unit by design. From the snickering, he assumed this boy was playing some kind of joke. "You organics are strange creatures." The android said, not even bringing up the snowdrift again. Was there a purpose to this boy's pranks? Probably not, but humor like this was a foreign concept to the robot.
