Appearance: A mysteriously dark-looking character, Nagisa appears masked in robes with jet black hair that is not styled in any fashion. With hazel-colored eyes that appear longing for something, it is not uncommon for people to be drawn into them.
Personality: While he does not look like the kind of heroic type, Nagisa prides himself on being righteously pure. It is in his very nature to come to the rescue of those in danger regardless of whether they are friend or foe. Nagisa is truly a charitable soul: He gives food and money to those less fortunate; he works at animal shelters; and helps the elderly in their homes. However, while some see his compassion and caring personality as a wonderful thing it opens up some very bad traits. The biggest being how gullible he is. He will believe without question essentially anything someone is willing to tell him. This is because he doesn't believe that people can really do wrong. To Nagisa, all humans, whether they have magic or not, are inherently good. It's not their fault that they turn to evil because society turns it back on them. He can be described as someone with extreme white knight syndrome. It is the duty of the strong to protect the innocent and weak.

Background History:
• Born in Magnolia Town, Nagisa had lived what any normal human being would define as a nightmare. His father was a lightning lacrima addict. In that, instead of using lacrima for the ability to enhance magical power, Toru instead felt a jolt of electricity in the form of a high. In Toru's episodes it was not uncommon for him to beat Nagisa and explain he was beating the "evil" out of him. This especially happened when Nagisa was caught by Toru playing with other young children his age. Especially, children who came from magic families, something very common in Magnolia Town. "Boy, you know better than to play with those dirty mages. They're evil. And the Lord does not approve of their sorcery." Toru angrily barked, before thrusting his fist into Nagisa's face. Bloodied and scratched up, his mother would patch him up before school the next day.
Often, the local school would question how Nagisa came bruised with cuts and mysterious marks, but they never thought anything bad was happening at home. Toru had them brainwashed to believe Nagisa was just a very "adventureous" and clumsy child who would climb up hills and fall down on rocks. Nagisa's father, Toru, was a lazy b*****d who refused to work, so he had his wife, Kaguya, work at night for those who had the most licentious of desires. His mother was a very beautiful woman and out of fear that Toru would harm her or Nagisa, she did as she was told obediently. Nagisa did not know where Kaguya went at night, only that his dad described her as a very "hard worker". She would return home quite late at night and from upstairs, Nagisa watched her return with her dress ripped, her hair frizzled, and her make-up smeared. Of course, he was too young to understand this and thought his mother was beautiful regardless.
As Nagisa grew to around the age of 5, his father had Nagisa begin working doing odd jobs around Magnolia Town. This was generally manual labor, the kind that people would not ask a child to do. Magnolia's citizenry felt sorry for Nagisa and would tip him a couple jewels for his work. Kaguya would return home late at night as usual and find Nagisa covered in black soot from working in chimneys. The young boy had a working man's hands after a couple years doing this manual labor. Despite this, Kaguya would not allow her son to go out into public without a strong sense of hygiene. At the very least, even with her terrible lack of parenting, her unfortunate child would be clean. One night Kaguya returned home with less jewel than she normally had, in part because she grew tired of tending to men. It was on the night that the anger that came from Toru's usual beatings was abnormal.
Toru had sunk the Kanata fortune into excessive lightning lacrima as well as booze. The "high" from the lacrima combined with alcohol made him violent. This time, he had went too far, as he wrapped his hands around Kaguya and had his way with her in front of Nagisa. "You see this boy? This is how you teach a woman to respect you. I'm going to make you a strong little brother." Kaguya with tears in her eyes fought back, only to be backhanded and held down. Nagisa curled up into a defensive ball closing his eyes to the horror. He tried to keep all of it out of his mind. His world was not like this; it was all just one big nightmare that he would wake up from. His life kept on like this for some time, for another five years until Nagisa had grown old enough to move on, until his mother killed herself.
The death of his mother impacted Nagisa quite hard. He became a very quiet young man who no longer really respected his father. However, despite knowing, as he matured, just what his father was, and what his father did to them, he could never grow to hate him. To Nagisa it was not his father's fault, but perhaps the environment that made him that way. Society had to be responsible for that monster. His father, Toru, tried everything to keep Nagisa at home to provide the income he needed for his lacrima addiction. But, Nagisa knew that staying would only enable him. Instead, Nagisa abandoned his father to the evil that consumed him, pledging to become strong enough to change his father back to a state of good. For the yearning of justice and peace, Nagisa awakened his own magical prowess, a unique magic lost to the ages called the Arc of Embodiment. He discovered that if he believed, anything was possible. Nagisa believed that it was his calling to become a mage that would be more than a mage, a paladin of the light, a procurer of the righteous, justly pure. He wanted to be a hero. And not just any hero, but the Hero of Fiore.
