Here is a topic to chat about any funny and/or stupid moments in your DnD campaign or one of your friend's campaigns that you have heard about. Here's a few subjects incase you don't know what to talk about.

  • Something you said or did
  • Something one of your party members said or did
  • Something your DM said or did

Have fun. biggrin

I will start this out. This one is funny to me, but it's one of those things that you had to been there to find it pretty funny.

One of my party members and I went to this one big house because we were told to ask there by a person for a samurai master. There wasn't a doorbell, but there was a hobo standing outside the door. So I picked up a stick and was going to attempt to hit the hobo and make him yell to get the person's attention inside. I picked up the stick, swung at the hobo, and killed him. It was pretty funny because #1 I sucked at strength and #2 I just killed the doorbell.

This was a story related to me from my brother. The names have been changed to protect... me.

Okay, high level group, in the middle final boss battle. Enemy boss is a wizard. Group consists namely of a dwarf whose player can never decide on a good character and thus has them all continuously commit suicide when he changes characters, a half-giant fighter-type dude, a mage, and a couple other guys. The battle goes on for a little while, then the wizard casts a Prismatic Sphere around himself. Now, the group has a couple options. They can take cover while the mage tries to break through the sphere, they can run away and try to get the enemy wizard to follow them, or they can simply focus their attempts on the nearby minions. So what do they do? Well, the Half-Giant wants to hit that wizard, so he grabs the dwarf, picks him up, and chucks him at the wizard. The dwarf flies through the air, through the Prismatic Sphere. He takes a hefty amount of damage, but makes enough saving throws to make it through. The Half-Giant rolled a sufficient attack roll that the dwarf hit the wizard, and they both start tumbling through the other side of the sphere. Sadly, at this point I believe the dwarf was petrified and destroyed, but the battle was won in the end. The sad part was that the dwarf's player was kinda warming up to that character, and was going to keep it as a permanent PC.

Wow... That is horrible and wonderful at the same time.

I've had some great roleplaying experiences... I just can't think of them right now. >.>

My first campaign run. Party of, if memory serves, human barbarian, sorcerer, and I can't remember the last three. The past few rooms and corridors of the tower dungeon have been riddled with traps. There is no rogue in the party. The party is confronted with yet another corridor.

Me: "Corridor going forward, corridor going back the way you came, what do you do?"

Barbarian: "Is the floor slippery at all?"

Me: "Yes. It seems freshly waxed."

Barbarian: "I want to grab the sorcerer and slide him down the hallway to check for traps."

Needless to say, the barbarian got his wish, to the ire of the sorcerer. Fortunately for the sorcerer, none of the traps were pitfalls and he slid past all damage except an arrow in the butt. Unfortunately, it was so effective, the barbarian decided he would continue doing that.

Hmm- Dracorion, Unforgiven_One, EmbersGlow and I are at ScalesDarkwing's house, starting a up a new campaign. Drake- was a ranger, I think, and his char approaches Embers (she was an elven/water elemental Druid) and, knowing Drake's proclivity to hit on all of the female campaign characters, snaps at him, "Go away! I'm pondering the meaning of life!"

Later on in the same campaign, Unforgiven (playing a Tiefling Rogue) tries to pick a fight with a local tavern owner, who turns out to be an Epic-level wizard...

Here is another one.
My party and I approach the boss battle in a dungeon. We have been sent on a quest to collect these three parts for an axe. In the boss room there is a coffin and everything else is silent. The boss comes out of the coffin and we fight. Eventually we kill the boss and we are all ready to leave but the stupid one in our party decides he wants to go look in the coffin. After some complaining, he goes over to the coffin and it turned out that one of the axe parts was in the coffin.

Same quest, days later, Drake and U_O's characters are taken in by mine (she's a Nymph Bard with skill points in Profession: Prostitution) and U_O's Tiefling tears up the satin sheets in the guest bedroom. Send Dracorion on a quest across the town in the middle of the night for red satin sheets, which the DM charged him an exorbitant amount for, and U_O promptly tore up that same night.

All right, I've got one, now.

It was one of those pre-made campaigns you get in a book. We were set up with the starting situation that all the PC's were childhood friends.

We had already killed dozens of goblins when two of the guys got a "brilliant" idea. Wouldn't it give us a huge edge if one of us was a lich? So instead of waiting to figure out what the procedure involved in this was, they waited until everyone else was out of the room, leaving just the two of them with one other. One slapped the unsuspecting friend with a tanglefoot bag, and the other cut off his head.

It was at this point they realized they had no idea what they were doing.

When the rest of us got back, they said the goblins killed him.

Alright my turn.

I was Dming this one and it was suppose to be a fifth level castle. But what really happened is that our barbarian in our group had the bright idea to save time and start swinging his warhammer towards the ceiling to get to the level above. Apart from almost caving the place in on us he actually achieved the goal. What really helped him do it was his 47 for strength (we were all epic level when this happened). Anyways he procceded to do this until the top level. stressed

I tell you one thing. It really pissed me off to have him blast through a castle that took me about three days to make.

That, I suppose, is what happens when you put epic level monsters in a fifth level castle. Personally, I see several problems with this strategy, such as the structural integrety of the building and just how much attention this would draw. smile Maybe you should have such things work against the players next time.

haha... funny. evan and i are in the same campaign, so yeah. sorry, e, but i have to take this one.

our party had to get to an island to investigate some strange things when the crappy boat we borrowed got attacked and shattered. evan and i jumped on to land, and our other two party members jumped into the water. we got into a giant fight with a zombie shark (we didnt know it was a zombie at the time) who appearantly attacked our boat. when it was my turn, i shot with my crossbow and hit the elven druid in our party. i wanted to make up for it so i casted flare. the shark made its save or whatever, but i blinded our half-orc fighter because he had light-sensitivity.

and that was in one round.

hummm the greatest htink that happened. I was a halfling standing around a corner bc the rest of the party was attacking a black dragon. I had a elven Ranger infront of my shoting his stupid arrows, and when he hits the dragon finally, the dragon used its breath weapon, which mind you is a 30' line of acid. And bc i was around the corner it was like a tital wave of acid. I was flat footed bc i did not see the attack and by the time it hit me it was to late. the acid did over 200 damage and i was only lvl 5, i had 38 hp. My DM said it was like i was never even there. I was so made i yelled just about every word that came to mind. I was almost asked to leave the class room.

I did have things work against them. But only if they spent the time going through the castle. I didn't plan on them going up and through it.
