I recently viewed this topic posted on the Extended Discussions in the Forums. I responded to the thread, and basically said she would not make a good president, especially fiscally, because she is a socialist (c'mon ... she wishes to adopt a national health care system). Actually, many political scientists consider her a populist or statist, the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of a libertarian. She's gaining substantial ground. An online campaign has been started to try to convince her to run for the presidency. Don't believe me? http://votehillary.org/ Sure, it's good that she's pro-choice and advocates church welfare service, those are good, but so much outweighs that overall ...

-She's in favor of forcing companies to hire more women and minorites, basically, affirmative action
-She opposes privatization of social security
-She favors censorship to change what children see on television
-She favors a great deal of federal funding on
-She favors stronger gun control
-She opposes free trade
-She Opposes decreasing taxation in general, especially for the wealthy
-She favors War on Drugs

I've made my point.

How many people here think it's possible for her to win the election? Is the country ready for a female president? Do you think she'll go up against Condoleezza Rice for the presidency? Most important of all ... would it be a good idea for her to be president? My opinion is evident, what's yours?

I'm afraid she would have a very good shot if she ran, because she would be a woman. Any man that says he'd vote against her would run the risk of being called anti-feminist, or whatever. Same if a black runs, if a white man votes against a black in an election, he runs the risk of being labeled a racist.
I do not think that this country is ready for any minority president, because it would unfavorably skew the results, (i.e. I would have voted for the other guy, but I didn't want to be called racist. ) Until we can be sure that any election including a minority wil be completly fair, I oppose all minority presidential canidats, including women.

i don't oppose minority candidates, but i think she would have a good chance of winning because she's a woman, and a lot of people will vote for her just because of that. everyone is always talking about how we need a woman president (at least the women i know lol), and they would fall for the novelty of it all, instead of actually listening to what she's for and against.

I don't see that affecting the actual voting, since no one can actually SEE who you vote for...people might say they voted for the minority to avoid being called prejudiced, but people will still vote for whoever they wish.
I think that Hillary has a shot, sadly.

Well I'll put it this way.... If she runs I'll consider voting for ANY candidate the republicans throw my way.

This is what would happen if she was president:
"HEY it's george's orwell's 1984 prediction coming true a little late...now!"

Hilary Cliton becoming president would be one of the worst things for America. (my opinion) Sadly the only other canidate I can see running against her and winning CAN'T run because he's not a native citizen.

crying oh for the Terminator to be able to run in 08!

This is my first day in the Libertarian guild. Thank you for letting me be a part.

As for Hitlery. That is the most dangerous woman in America. You have already stated most of the reasons why. Here's one more. She has absolutly no respect for the rule of law. All she has respect for is what will advance her agenda.

Because of the whole minority/woman thing, realistically the only person that I can think of who might have a chance of going up against her is Condoleeza Rice. She has name recognition. She looks good on TV. She is articulate. And has a sharp wit. I wish we had a Libertarian candidate like her. But I guess you take what you can get. I hate the idea of the lesser of two evils but president Hitlery? I just don't want to even think about it.

By the way she is the person who started that online campaign. Remember her and her "husband's" listening tours?

I really hope she does not EVER become president. The government should provide national security and that's it; the rest should be left to the people themselves to deal with. However, Hillary Clinton wants to stick her nose into EVERYTHING society does. It's like she's trying to become "mother" to the entire country, making sure no one has to suffer through making a decision for themselves.

Hum, I'd like to see them run Elizabeth Dole agaisnt Hilary. At least Dole doesn't have a reputation as a b***h.

That and I'd like to see the Libertarians run the guy from Seinfeld as a plublicity stunt. Part of the problem is that the canidates, in my opinion, aren't doing enough to get the message out there. Even listening to people I know, they're grossly misinformed of what the party is.

That and I've been working on a parody of My Country Tis of Thee.

Our country tis of thee,
We don't want Hillary,
Of thee we sing.

I'm afriad i slant towards the belief that she WILL become president. I have no doubt in my mind that she won't run, and i have no doubt in my mind she'll win the popular vote in the democratic caucass, (since i can't think of anyone in the democratic party who will be formidible or as strong as Hilary). Nor do i believe republicans can throw up a good enough canidate to defeat her, if if the democratic party continues on its current rate.

Watch her, she's starting for "morph" from her current "true" beliefs... She's going to try to appeal to the conservitive voters becuase of her morphing. She's now (as someone has already mentioned) started a investigation into effects that "adult" tv has one young ones.

As for Condi. she's already said she has no intention on running. Although it would be fun to see Condi vs Hilary. Dole i've heard nothing about...that could get interesting...
